ChocolatPosted on 21 September 2009
I have eaten at Chocolat on a few occasions. It's quiet nice and the food is tasty. I like the singapore noodles for lunch. They have curiously shaped plates which can be a bit fiddly at times. I feel it's best for girlie lunches and not so much for children.

Corbett Court - CharlevillePosted on 17 September 2009
Corbett Court is a great restaurant with a very varied menu and we eat here often. It’s very Family friendly and the food is fabulous, extremely well presented and reasonable priced. The staff and service are quick, friendly and the place has a real homely feel. The bit I like best about Corbett Court is that everything is included in the price. A 12oz Sirloin steak comes in at under €20 and comes served with Potatoes, Chips, 3 x Veg, Sauce, Onions and Mushrooms and it is fantastic. I have eaten steak in some of the best steak houses in the states and this place could give any of them a run for their money. When I go out to eat I do not want to pay for every little side dish on top of the price of my steak. I can also highly recommend the Mushroom starter – one of my favourite things, the Curry, Cajun Chicken , even the salad is one of the tastiest I have every had – tip ask for it with warm chicken. Yum Yum. I have tried a lot of the stuff on the menu and have never been disappointed. My 2 year old is not a fan of the usual children’s menu stuff and it is never a problem for the staff to make him up something that suits his tastes; in fact the staff seem very good with children in general and each child get a free gift – not the usual pap handed out in restaurants that I would normally put in the bin when I get home because they are a health hazard but good stuff, story books etc. I would highly recommend it.......

Matt The Thresher (Birdhill)Posted on 19 June 2009
Stopped here on my way home after a long drive with my young child. On arrival I asked where the toilets were located and was informed rather rudely that I would have to place an order before using the toilets as they were for customers only. I ordered a fairly pricy children’s meal (which turned out to be a very small portion) for my child and coffee and cake for me – the response by the waiter was “is that it” with attitude. The portions were small and overpriced and the food was ok but there was nothing special about it. The waiter appeared to be looking at my child like he was an alien and on viewing the menu further I noted that it states something like “although your children are welcome in Matt the Threshers they must remain seated and under control at all times. In the event of them making noise they must be removed from the premises”. I wish I had seen this before I ordered as I would have removed both myself and child from their premises. I have a child not a dog! And I seriously resent restaurants that thinks children are 2nd class citizens. I would recommend this restaurant to no-one and I think anyone with children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews etc should avoid it as a matter of principle.

Riverbank Restaurant @ The Absolute HotelPosted on 10 June 2009
The Hotel is really very nice and looks better on the inside than the perception is on the outside. We had the Early Bird Menu and I would highly recommend it. There was a choice of 4 starters and as there were 4 of us we had one starter of each. Each one was more delicious than the next. The Vegetable soup was the best ever, the Smoked Salmon divine. Each one was so well presented and the portions were just right. The Main course was just as good. I had the Salmon which was the best I have ever tasted and the Vegetables and sauce were scrumptious. Everyone else was equally pleased. Our waitress was so lovely and helpful and the food was so well presented I didn’t know whether I should eat it or photograph it. As there were 4 of us she took our order in pairs as each couple gets a bottle of house wine - we had the red and it was fairly good. It worked out at €60 per couple. Our son had the chicken dinner from the children’s menu and it was gorgeous; he got crayons and colouring pages to keep him occupied and the waitress had a special word for him every time she came down. He loved her! If I had any complaints it would be the deserts (although I am not really a desert lover) the brownie was just a bit coco tasting for me and the apple crumble had a new twist on it and I sort of like it standard. I would certainly eat here again and recommend it to anyone.

Copper & Spice RestaurantPosted on 24 March 2009
Went to Copper & Spice with Friends. I had heard great reports about this place and was utterly disappointed. We had a Variety of dishes - Most of us thought our food was OK, nothing Wow and nothing we would rush back for. 3 people thought it was not very nice. My food tasted ok, it was nothing special and I have certainly eaten better Indian food on many occasions. The portions were not big by any means and we were charged over €40 for Service which I think is extreme. Even if the food had been really good I would not have gone back because of the service charge. The Service was overwhelming – They pestered us, watched every bit going into our mouths and we dare not even glance up from the plate or they were over despite been told twice that we would call them if we needed them. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Texas SteakoutPosted on 16 February 2009
We went to the Texas Steakhouse on Friday night and it was the best meal I have had in a very long time. Although the place was packed the staff were very helpful and attentive; the food was superb and the atmosphere romantic. I had the Nachos which I can highly recommend my husband was also happy with his ribs. We both had the Fillet steaks and they were second to none. My only complaint is that everything is an extra portion i.e. onions, mushroom, onion rings and the cost adds up. My husband does not eat the fore mentioned so I end up ordering a portion of each just for me when all I really want is one or two. I think it would be much better to serve the steak with a few mushrooms and Onion rings even if it means adding a Euro or two the cost. Also the Pepper sauce could do with having a little kick – bit mild for our liking.

We visit this restaurant often. Food is fairly good although a little overpriced. Atmosphere is the best and my toddler seems to love the place, he would highly recommend the Milkshake. The Kids menu is reasonable and the staff is the best I have very come across with kids.

Moll Darby's RestaurantPosted on 27 January 2009
Only ate here once and was very disappointed. Portions small. I had the fillet of Tipperary Beef which I requested well done. It came out Burned on the outside and completely raw in the middle, no sauce. Can’t remember what I had for dessert but remember that I didn’t really like it.
