Silks Chinese RestaurantPosted on 17 March 2010
Ate here with a party of 5 on Saturday. It's one of my local restaurants, but I had stopped going as I had a few bad meals there a few years ago and decided that it wasn't worth the money!.
The atmosphere was fantastic, the restaurant was buzzing (possibly due to the rugby result that day) but it wasn't too loud.
We ordered 3 starters (spring rolls- delicious, prawn satay- which came with the satay on the side which was lovely, and prawns wrapped in half chiles- very hot but delicious)
We got 4 mains- yuk sung, 2 chicken chow meins and a hot prawn dish- all delicious and plenty for all of us.
we also had two bottles of wine and a couple of vodka and cokes.
the bill came to about €190 which was quite pricey considering what we ordered.
Although we were offered complimentary drinks at the end which was a nice touch, and we weren't kicked out even though it was almost 1am when we were leaving.
Will definitely remove it from my blacklist and consider it the next time i fancy a chinese!!

Lemongrass (Liffey Valley)Posted on 17 March 2010
Ate here for lunch with a few girls from work. Food was delicious, but quite overpriced. i loved the idea of a bento box- exp since you even get fruit in it, but was disappointed to find that there was only a strawberry and a couple of pieces of pineapple. would go again, but think i would go for one of the better priced items on the menu!!

Coffee ScenePosted on 17 March 2010
This has got to be my favourite coffee shop in Malahide. It serves the most delicious coffee and the food is always really fresh and tasty. I always go for a blt on ciabatta, simple but so nicely done it always leaves me satisfied and without needing a dinner!!

WagamamaPosted on 24 February 2010
I love wagamama, the food is reliable and delicious, the atmosphere fun, almost like a school cafeteria, and the service is prompt. the only difficulty is the price of the side dishes. i can understand the price of the mains however the price of the sides leaves a lot to be desired, it was between €6.95 and €7.95 for 5 prawns the last time i visited, i can't quite remember.
I tend to go for udon noodles, done any which way, I'm not too fussy, but this time I went for the special: salmon fish cakes. they were delicious, not too greasy, the fish was perfectly cooked, the only complaint was that there was too much (they gave me 3) and they kept breaking with my chopsticks!
would love to eventually have room in my tummy at the end of the meal to try one of the deserts, not a cake lady myself, but i'd love to try the wasabi chocolate cake.
will definitely be back!!!

Giovanni’s Pizzeria RestaurantPosted on 24 February 2010
Went here for our annual girls Christmas night out, though there were only four of us so it was quite a manageable table.
Having gone to this restaurant at least once every year for the past 15 years, I have my fingers crossed that I never have to go again. Every time I leave it, I regret having agreed to meet there.
The food is bland and is the same as it was 15 years ago, despite changing hands at least once during that period. Everything (except the pizza) tastes like it was prepared the day before (if not two days before). I went for the margarita pizza- it's my old reliable there, it's not delicious but it is palatable, especially if you dose it in chili oil- which the wiatresses promptly whip off you if you're not careful enough to guard it!!
The bathrooms smell, and the smell can permeate the restaurant, highly likely if you are unlucky enough to get a table close to the toilet doors. And if you are lucky enough to avoid the smell of the toilets then there is often a smell of bleach.
The staff are uninterested, and spend most of their time trying to weave around the many tables that are crammed into the space. I was unlucky enough to have the waitress lean over my back to get the order from the gentleman in the table next to me.
My New Years Resolution this year was to never to return again, I am always disappointed

Sinergie (Liffey Valley)Posted on 24 February 2010
Ate here with my boyfriend while staying in the hotel. Our meal was booked for 9pm, so late enough, especially on the night before new years eve, however there was no one else in the restaurant.
The staff had seated us at a table just inside the restaurant, that had a draft and where everyone in reception had a clear view of us, however, when we asked to be moved to another table we were told that this would not be possible as they were setting up for breakfast- Not a good start to our meal!!
After choosing from the menu, we attempted to order but were told that our first choices were no longer available and they had no stock of the wine that we wanted.
I opted for the duck spring rolls to start, which were nice, but could have done with a bit more duck. We both reverted to the safety of steak for mains, which was cooked well, though mine was a little on the tougher side.
As soon as the starter dishes had been cleared our mains were out, leaving us precious little time to digest, and by the time we were finished our mains, we felt so unwanted that we took our bottle of wine up to the room to finish it in peace.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK Swords)Posted on 24 February 2010
Ate here with my boyfriend after a trip to the cinema. We had previously eaten in a GBK in London during the summer and had really enjoyed it so we were hoping that the Irish version would not disappoint. The reality was that it was even better than it's London counterpart!!
The food was delicious, with a huge variety of toppings and the servings were large- at times a little too big to get my mouth around (I'll just have to go for a smaller burger next time).
At times the atmosphere was stiffled by the family with the roaring children in the booth opposite us. However the staff had no problem with us changing tables, they were very friendly, though at times a little slow.
I'm sure I'll be back there soon

Seabank BistroPosted on 25 June 2008
Such a fantastic local restaurant, my parents favourite and now one of mine too. Always attend for family birthdays etc as service is fantastic and food always delicious. Staff are fantastic - remembering faces (and even names sometimes too!!). Much better since it has changed hands, interior is much the same but they appear to have solved the problem of the constant draft that used to be in the restaurant!

Cafe TopolisPosted on 25 June 2008
Ate here for lunch yesterday with my boyfriend (my first time but he had been a few times previously) Food was fantastic, house red was delicious- nice and light for a lunch time drink!! A set menu for only €9.50, value was great- only problem was that the waitress didn't tell us that it was only garlic bread or soup for starters and we never got offered our tea/coffee at the end. still food was fantastic- will defo be going back!!!!
