Essence BistroPosted on 27 October 2010
I recieved a flyer in my letter box advertising a new restaurant in Swords , it stated what my knife and fork had been waiting for !!
So i called the place and got through to a very helpful guy who was handling the reservations it turned out to be the manager Ian , lovely guy and very professional , when i looked at the menu outside before we went in i was over the moon to see what sort of fare was on offer , nothing like any other of eaterie's in Swords .
When we were seated i had a look at the wine menu a great selection of classic's with a nice mix of new world wines to boot , now onto the food after ordering our starter the waiter brought over a little appetiser of the white onion soup in an espresso cup and little crunchy croutons on the side like sugar lumps great lookin and the flavour was silky smooth delicious , i had the wood pigeon to start and my wife had the goats cheese and the two dishes looked amazing and the tatse was even better !!! moving onto the main's i went for the Pork belly which was not alot of fat as you can normally get but absolutely melt in your mouth material !! my wife opted for the free range chicken which was cooked to perfection, juicy and succulent and a great size of a breast , after finishing we had a look at the desert's and i was feelin quite fool but saw creme brulee with biscotti biscuits it was fantastic and my lady went for apple tart was beautiful .
As a local of Swords i am delighted to see a restaurant like this open in my hometown the value was unbelievable and the service was impeccable , we will definatley be back !!!!

The Grafton LoungePosted on 12 April 2010
We had heard the old cocoon had reopened as Grafton lounge , gone are the mad prices for the drinks and food , instead we found ourselves in a funky new place , we had some drinks first then tried the the food , i had a salad with pork belly and apple confit , was delicious the meat melted in my mouth and my friend the dreaded vegi thouroughly enjoyed his baked goats cheese and beetrot salad for mains i went for a special which was salmon , mussel and baby leek chowder which was delicious and a enjoyable size portion too , my friend went for the Oyster mushroom Linguini which had shaved parmasan and me not being a vegi still thought it looked very appealing , for after's my friend went for martini cheesecake which is served in martini glass was light and fruity with fresh strawberries , i went for the grafton selection of cocktail ice creams which thought was quite clever as all the flavours are on their cocktail menu , there was mojito , cosmopolaton and bellinni all delicous and i found myself nearly licking the glass , we stayed on for few hours as the atmosphere was cool it started gettin busy with a real mix of people coming in , and after few pints we decided to try the cocktails i had all the flavours from my desert but with a little more alcohol this time , but service was good and had a very enjoyable evening will definately be back for food , and we noticed that they have started a jazz sunday which the bar man told us is really starting to get a crowd , but big thumbs up to the grafton lounge !!!
