Campo de' Fiori

Campo de' Fiori

I have previously named this restaurant on Menu pages as one of my favorites. However after my last experience I will never return to it again. We had a booking for 9:30 and it was close to 11 before recieved our main courses (two of which were badly burnt). When we complained to the hostess we were told bluntly this was our fault because we were late sitting down. This despite the fact that we arrived at 9;30 on the dot (the time for our reservation) and the table was not ready and we were seated at the bar. 2 of our party arrived at 9:25 and were sent away and told to come back in 20 minutes which they did. So if we were late sitting ot was not our fault and more down to the fact that this restaurant has a two sittings a night policy which means they cant manage tables as efficently as they should. What was most disturbing about this restaurant visit was that one senior member of the management even came to our table in quite an intimidating manner and demanded to know why we complained. This created a spectacal and was most unwelcome. six of us will never return to this restaurant.

The food here is not spectacular, but for what it is it is really tasty and always good quality and is to a very high standard. Service alwasy comes with a polite smile. Plenty of Vegetiaran Options and the place is really well situated. Handy for coffee and a cake or Lunch with a friend after a bit of shopping.. Does excatly what it says on the tin! Highly recommended.

This is a Bistro that really has ideas beyond it's station. My opinion is it needs to get the basics right before it puts itself in the same league as a Gordon Ramsey, or Garry Rhodes establishment.. which it clearly does according to the staff. In a visit there with my family last night I found it almost impossible to get a Vegetarian option. The closest they could offer was penne pasta without the bacon. In fairness if I wanted Penne pasta I wouldnt bother going to a restaurant, I'd boil a pot of water myself. I was told by not just one of the serving staff, but by three, that the Chef and owner didn't believe in doing Vegetarian options and I was one of several people who had complained recently but what could they do? it was his place. One staff member told me they though if I had such a demand I should have though twice before coming to that restaurant and should have found another restaurant because the policy was not to go to that much trouble for such a minority. Appaling that this is the policy of this restaurant in this day and age, even worse that the staff so clearly and bluntly communicate it. I think this Bistro, described on "Menu pages" as Cheap eats and as having Vegetarian options, needs to realise its a "Bistro" in Patrick St, Dun laoire, Not a michelin star restaurant in Paris. After the staff making a big deal of it and totally effecting my evening out with my family, I was given a very average wild mushroom rissotto (which is a side from a rabbit main dish) and some over cooked veg and tasteless spring rolls. What was presented to me was sub standard and did not represent fine dining, good service or most importanly good tasty food. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone based on the attitude they displayed or the food they served

Disapointing to say the least. I went to this restaurant with a friend on here recomendation and expected a good standard. The restaurant it self looks nice , if a little small. It was was totally empty when we arrived at 8:00 on a thursday and the waiter who met us made a face when we said we didn't have a reservation. he left us stand for a few minutes to return to say he could squeeze us in. the menu was basic. i had checked out the website to see if it had veggie options (me) and the web site suggested 2. the menu on our table offered only one. A curry. We ordered soup as starter and it was lovely. My friends main course arrived, steak and chips with a chips side. She was anoyed becuase when she ordered the waiter did not tell her it already came with chips when she ordered the side dish. A few minutes my veggie curry arrived with chicken thru out. I called the waiter and sent it back. he told me it was a small mistake.. Not in my opinion. minutes later the curry arrived. It was served in a soup bowl and had a small side of rice. I can only discribe it as curry soup. Difficult to eat with a fork. I didn’t finish it. I simply couldn't. (a first for me!!). A new waiter noticed i had not touched my meal and offered me a free desert. I declined. we paid and left with out anyone in this small restaurant bidding us good night, even though the head waiter was beside the door.. There are so many better restaurants out there.. who go here .

Shelby's Brasserie

In this day and age it's really rare that a restaurant has almost no vegetarian options, But Shelby's is that restaurant. 2 veggie options (the main course a Mexican omlette), no Vegan options... The most they could offer me was some VERY basic diced veg stir fried in olive oil. Reminded me of restaurants in the 80's. I thought we had come a long way since then, not in this part of Bray it seems. The menu is expensive, €114 for 2 people with one bottle of wine, bare in mind one dish was simple stir-fry veg. the wine selection Basic (long Mountain @ over €30) the decor is perfect and the service in places was great.. And this place has the potential to be great... We visited on a Thursday... by 9:50 the waitress was sweeping up around our table... Not very classy... This place puts it self in the same price bracket as some places in the city... it is very very far from the quality and I would suggest they reduce their prices, improve their menu selection and train their staff and then they could have a great little restaurant in Bray... from my experience last night.. I won’t be rushing back.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Dublin. The food is great but what makes it is the welcome at the door, the style and personality of the service and management and the great simple but wonderful wines. I've never had a bad time at this restaurant. The owners are the most interesting people and it's clear they have a passion about being Hosts to their guests. Check it out it's not expensive but you need to book as it’s often packed. I'm going again this week end and I can't wait...

This is a really great little restaurant. The Pizza is fantastic, really authentic. and the special is the best value in town. Under 9€ starter pizza and glass of wine!! The staff are efficent, but a little lacking in personality. However I would Highly recomend this restaurant. It's the perfect place to meet up with an old friend or a casual get together before the cinema or pub.

Lamb Cutlets with Garlic, Lemon and Paprika

Why not make up a large quantity of this marinade in advance – it is wonderful with cutlets and would also work well with leg steaks or loin chops. The longer you marinate the meat for, the better the flavour!
