Moloughney's ClontarfPosted on 03 March 2013
After a long walk on the strand we came here for much needed nourishment. Moloughneys did not disappoint. The service efficient and friendly. My friend and I both had the butternut squash ravioli which was amazing I could have eating a bigger portion of it though as I was so hungry but it was delicious with the sage butter sauce. My friend had a lovely carrot cake with lime cream cheese zest whilst I had a gorgeous Morrocan orange and almond gluten free cake it was moist and flavours were lovely. With two coffees total bill came to about €45 which was reasonable. I will definately be here again as I had my eye on lots of other meals like the beef, chicken and desserts like chocolate and salt caramel tart.

I came here with my friends today I was so glad I booked they were turning loads of people away as it was booked solid probably due to it popularity and a week before Christmas. We have a lovely bottle of wine two of my friends has the fish and chips which they enjoyed, another had the poached egg with beetroot salad and I had the poached eggs on sourdough with coleslaw why shared the delicious chips. Atmosphere is great is close to the centre but not near all the crowds and busy shops. I will definately come here again for brunch.

Roly's CafePosted on 25 October 2012
My husband and I went here on a meal deal I have to say the food was lovely. I got a lovely cashel blue, chorizo and avocado salad "minus the avocado!!" I let that go as it was a nice salad, My husband ordered Heineken and got a Guinness and there was a small bone in his chicken burger. I have to say thought the burger was lovely and the chips amazing. His bacon and potato croquette starters were yum also. My mains of pasta with mushrooms and tarrgon and cream sauce was delicious. I would come back again service was quick and friendly and food is tasty and value for money.

I got the trio bruschetta and my husband got the Polpette for starters both were delicious. For mains my husband got a lovely chicken wrapped in pancetta, with roast potatoes, spinach and a cream sauce and I got a beautiful fillet of beef with spinach and sweet potato gratin. Had a meal deal for this restaurant I had never been so was looking forward to it. We both shared the fried chicken and veg gyoza which was tasty. I had the chicken Itame which was a lovely chicken, rice noodles, mushrooms, peppers, onion and bak choi in a tasty green curry and coconut soup. My husband had an equally delicicous chicken katsu curry. The service was friendly and quick and the bill came to €28 for a starter, 2 mains, a beer and sprite. I will be back again.

Dada RestaurantPosted on 28 May 2012
Came here with a group for the early bird menu. There is a good selection on it, we were seated for 6 and on the website you had to vacate by 8. The staff were very good and didnt rush us at all. I chose the hummus and pitta for starters which was delicious and the chicken tagine with olives and potatoes served piping hot. We also enjoyed the delicious white sangria. For 19.90 for starter, main and mint tea it was good value. We adjouned downstairs to the bar and we all had fun trying the Shisha Pipe for the first time. I will definately come back again. The staff/service was quick and friendly.

Millstone, A Dublin RestaurantPosted on 20 May 2012
I went here with a group of friends last night our table was booked for 8 but we didnt get seated until 8.20 as they were waiting on the last party to leave. We just ordered mains as we had to be somewhere by 10 the staff were friendly but the service was slow we were waiting quite a while for our mains. I ordered the goats cheese wellington as I dont eat steak or fish it was lovely but I thought it was quite dear at €15.95 for a vegetarian dish and no potatoes or chips with it. I ordered a side order of chips there were nice but quite saltly. I think if I was coming here again I would just get the pizzas as they are supposed to be nice. We were upstairs and it was quite cramped with 3 groups and one couple. It is a very small restaurant and on w/ends it does get very cramped I would prefer to come here during the week.

This is still one of the best value for money Italians in town. The fact that it has stood the test of time shows how popular is is. I went there for a quick bite before meeting people later. I had the penne gorgonzola and my husband had the pizza margarita with ham both delicious I wouldnt normally order a pizza in a restaurant but I may be ordering one from here I tried some and it was one of the best restaurant pizza's ever. Service was fast and friendly and two mains for €20 ideal, will be back

We got a deal here for the comedy night and two 12" pizzas. The pizzas are the traditional wood fire pizzas we ordered two pepperoni but got a salami and perpperoni (they must have run out but we didnt mind as we like both). I enjoyed the pizzas the service was good and it was value for money the only things that wasn't good was the music was way too loud luckilly it was good music, drink a bit pricey and the place was freezing upstairs, I had my cardigan on and was still cold. Apart from that its a good place for a comedy show and a snack

The Porterhouse (Parliament Street)Posted on 18 April 2012
I was here with a few friends I like the Porterhouse in Temple Bar for a few drinks. I was here for food at Christmas and wasnt impressed with the burger but I was hungry and said I would this the food the benefit of the doubt this time. The service was a little slow and the orders were wrong one of my friends got a half Caesar Salad instead of a full and another girl got a wrong drink, I ordered the Porterhouse Pie but they didnt have any so I went with the pasta instead. It was just ok for €11 I would have expected more flavour, the chicken was bland and bacon fatty with a watery cream pasta sauce. I just ate the pasta, some bacon and the mushrooms. I like Porterhouse for the night as the beers are good but wouldnt rush back for the food.

The Larder Cafe RestaurantPosted on 15 February 2012
I went here with my husband for Valentines and I was delight to know that they were doing the regular menu as well as a special Valentines one. Too many restaurants do a set Valentines menu with mediocre food and rushing customers out as soon as possible. The staff were very friendly and accommodating I ordered the Goats cheese profiterole which was delicious and my husband had the smoked salmon salad starter with a creamy sauce and juicy cherry tomatoes. For mains I had the delicious vege option of pasta with toasted pinenuts, and sun dried tomatoes in a cream and white wine sauce my husband had the corn fed chicken in a lovely butter tarragon sauce with asparagus and baby potatoes. We pushed the boat out and each got a dessert I had a lovely buttery rhubarb crumble and he had the most divine white chocolate cheesecake. Our meal came to €67 with a bottle of wine also. I throughly enjoyed it the service, food and atmosphere. I will come again

My husband and I went here one weekend. We had one of those deal vouchers and thought we'd try it out. I got the deep fried wheat balls for starter and my husband got the cassava balls with minced meat both were delicious. For mains we both tried the roasted chicken breast in breadcrumbs topped with cheese, tomato and mashed potato. We ordered chips on the side along with our two bottles of Brahma included in the deal. The mains came which looked lovely after 10 mins we were wondering where our chips were but we were struggling through our massive portions of mains and decided to leave it I was so glad she didnt bring chips. We left stuffed I would definitely only come here again if im hungry as they give very generous portions. The food was different and tasty.

Queen of Tarts (Temple Bar)Posted on 11 January 2012
I had been in here at Christmas and had a lovely meal with friends so decided to treat my husband to a meal here. The place wasnt busy so we had our pick of seats and the service was quick and friendly. I had the cheese and potato tart which was lovely but my husband wasnt impressed with his ham and cheese sandwich it wasnt great just bland cheese and ham thrown together and the bread didnt seem fresh. the side salad was paltry. If you are looking for a hot meal and dont like savory pastries I wouldnt reccommond here as it really is only a sandwich/tarts and cake cafe. We didnt get cakes but I can vouch that there desserts are delicious I had the most divine Victoria sponge there at Christmas.

Havana Tapas BarPosted on 11 January 2012
I went in here with my Mother and husband on Christmas Eve for some Tapas as an alternative to all the Christmas food that would have been around the next few days.
The service was quick and friendly between the three of us we got potatas bravas, spanish omelette, the havana platter of hams/cheeses and a selection of dips/breads. The food was delicious and there was plenty to each to share. I love coming here for either a meal or a casual snack and the price was reasonable also.

Ciao Bella RomaPosted on 24 October 2011
A group of us visited here last Sat I have to say that the place has gone downhill since my last visit in January 2010. There was 16 of us booked in for 8.00 but we didnt get waited on until 8.45 we didnt order starters as the prices are crazy €8.95 for a brushetta and €10/11 for salads. We had all ordered a mixture of mains - meat, pasta and pizzas 5 plates of soggy cold chips came out first and after 5 mins the meat dishes and pastas came out they charged separate for the chips and they came out way to early everyone was starving so the chips were eaten by the time the meat mains came out. My carbonara was mediocre the pasta and sauce was ok but the bacon was terrible. It was like undercooked fatty pieces of rashers no meat hardly in the dish at all. The pizzas were sloppy. One waiter sent out the wrong pizza and we had nearly all eaten by the time the person got it back again. And another persons steak sauce was cold. Also they forgot to give us a bottle of wine we had ordered. Someone side dish of spinach also came after he has eaten his Calzone The service was rude and not efficient I would prefer to go to a Pizza takeway joint than go to this restaurant again it was abysmal food and service.

I got a lovely salad starter with blue cheese, poached pear and walnuts. My main was a delicious pasta with creamy mushroom sauce. My husband had a lovely gnocci starter with tender chicken with black bean and corn salsa. For dessert I had a lovely summer pudding with berries and my husband had the chocolate mousse. The service was excellent it was a lovely relaxed calm atmosphere with no noise. I would come here again

Went here today with my friends have to say its a lovely little place you would never see it though as it's up a little side street. I had the Caesar Salad which was delicious and my friends enjoyed their smoked salmon and BLT. Our cakes were yummy citris torte and carrot cakke and my friends cheesecake was the best I've ever tasted crunchy and creamy. I thought the service was good and friendly maybe we got them on a good day as to previous reviews I love the quirkiness of it like a mix of 70's kitsch but it works

McDonagh's Seafood HousePosted on 08 August 2011
I called in here on the way for some lunch I was dying for some of McDonagh's chips having studied and worked in Galway I miss the chips since I moved away. As I approached at midday they were opening up and there was a queue outside already to get in a mix of locals and tourists. I got a takeaway portion of chips to eat down by the Claddagh the chips are amazing real proper chipper chips with loads of salt and vinegar the chips are proper fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Service is prompt and friendly I would recommend McDonagh's as it is a well established Galway landmark

Had a meal here with my friends during Race weekend I have to say the food is very tasty during one of the busiest Sat of the year in Galway it was essential to book. I have to say it was a little cramped but the staff were excellent as I think they had been short staffed people were still coming in for tables at 10. I had a lovely brusheta and my friend had garlic bread, my friend's pizza was delicious and my carbonara was very flavoursome with a good bottle of house white we were too full to manage desserts. I would come again but maybe during a quieter w/end I wouldn't bring a large crowd here as it is a bit tight for space

All the time we were there about 15 couples must have come in some turned away because they hadnt booked. Our waitress was very nice and prompt with the service even though they were busy. We ordered 2 beers and Sangria and 4 Tapas the potatas bravas were delicious, along with bread and the juiciest olives ever, we also got omelette and chorizo which was tasty. We treated ourselves to dessert and got the cheesecake and mousse both delicious. We had an enjoyable meal and if ever I am in Galway again I will go there

Johnnie Fox's PubPosted on 12 June 2011
Came here with a few of my friends as lived in Dublin for years but never tried here. We booked for 8.45 I have to say there isnt a great selection if you are not a seafood lover like a few of us one girl was vegetarian and was left with an unappetising choice of unadventurous veggie options I had the chicken which was medicore not great. The service was terrible the waitress forgot our basket of bread that we ordered and clearly had not a clue when we asked if they did side orders seemingly they dont do sides?? or chips there very strange one of my friends was starving afterwards also the dinner plates were stone cold!!. The desserts were lovely. Starters all seafood bar soup/goats cheese. Service was friendly but painfully slow and inexperienced. The music and atmosphere was good but if ever I came again I would eat in town beforehand and just come for drinks and food. As the food is overpriced and not that great.

7 of us went to Montys last week and it was a good experience. The service was quick and the staff were friendly. I had the Tareko Sabji deep fried vegetable balls which were very tasty and the chicken babari, a masala sauce with mint and boiled rice.
They went out of their way to do extra mild dishes for someone who wasnt used to Indian food and had coeliac friendly food too. We had to leave the table at 9.00 but by the time we sorted the bill and finished our wine it was 9.15 and they were still polite and didnt hurry us. I would go here ago for good service and delicious food.

Went for a meal here with my husband as a surprise have to say I heard about it but never got the opportunity to go there. For starters I have the goats cheese and hubby had the Caesar salad both delicious. For mains my gorganzola and walnut ravoli was divine as was my husbands chicken and yummy potato gratin. We went all out that night and each got a dessert I had banoffee my husband chocolate brownie. We were well and suitably stuffed the service and atmosphere was excellent low music, not noisy and a lovely setting. My only slight irk was I would have preferred our dessert to come on a plate instead of in a glass. The whole meal came to €95 for 2 starters, mains desserts a bottle of nice pinio grigio and basket of bread included. I would definately come here again to try the other lovely choices on the menu.

I enjoyed a lovely meal of minced chicken and onions for starters, yellow curry and banoffee pie for dessert. There was good choice on the menu and I would come back again. My 5 friends enjoyed their mixed dishes of fried potato and chicken patties, green curries and sea bass also. The service was good just a little slow between mains and dessert but that didnt worry me too much as I needed a food break. The room is a little small upstairs you could only fit about 15 people therefore would advise to book well in advance as it gets packed quickly. We enjoyed our night anyway as ended up been there over 3 hours

Juice Vegetarian RestaurantPosted on 09 May 2010
I ate here with a friend and enjoyed my meal a lot. For starters we shared a platter for two including stuffed vine leaves, Satayana, pitta bread, hummas and salad it was tasty and not too filling. For mains my friend got a vege Malaysian curry with brown rice and I got a Juice burger with chips both meals were delicious. We shared an indulgent hazelnut and chocolate torte and two coffees. The meal came to a reasonable €47. Service was prompt and friendly except at the end we were waiting for our bill for a good while in fairness though it had filled up fairly quickly that Sat evening and they were rushed off their feet. My one grip was constantly having to ask for water I drinks loads during a meal and it would have been easily for him to leave a jug on the table than having to call for more 4 times! All in all though I would go back again

For dessert I got a fantastic marscapone and mango mousse with a pistashio biscuit it was a beautiful finish to a lovely meal. Everyone loves their meals which included swordfish, duck, and chocolate cake for 5 starters, basket of bread, 5 mains 3 desserts and 3 glasses of wine it was €169 which was quite reasonable. I went here with my husband last Saturday I was surprised that we got a table straight away at 7.30 as it was quite busy around town. I had the brushetta della casa which was delicious and the carbonara - one of the best I've had in a long while usually the bacon can be fatty the meat was fantastic and the sauce divine not a good meal if dieting!! my husband had the polpette which were tasty and a delicious margarita pizza with ham. Our only small gripes were that we were not offered parmasan/black pepper with our meal but I think this was the waiter as I saw a waitress offering it to another table. And the starter polpette was a bit small. Apart from that the food was good and service friendly and prompt I will go back again to try more dishes on the menu.

I went here with a friend my first impressions was a nice atmosphere, roomy, good seating areas and friendly staff. There was a good selection on the menu however as we were not starving we went with two paninis and chips with drinks. The panini selection was good not just the usual ham and cheese choices of chorizo, goats cheese, chicken pesto, brie and serrano ham. I got the serrano ham and emmental and my friend got the chicken pesto together with a huge bowl of french fries and salad. Both orders were delicious and satisfying. Staff were effecient and friendly and was good value for money. I will definately come here again for a full dinner.

Cafe GertrudePosted on 06 December 2009
Myself and my husband went here on Sat I dont remember seeing it before so thought we would give it a go. I ordered the goats cheese tartlet and hubby had the garlic bread the garlic bread was ok the same ould french bread with garlic butter anyone could do my goats cheese tartlet was mediocre a shortcrust pastry tartlet with a dollop of pesto, some chopped tomatoes and goats cheese and small side salad with no dressing. I had asked for a white wine spritzer the waitress came with a full glass of wine and a bottle of water she didnt know what it was I explained I wanted some wine topped up with soda. When our mains came (I got carbonara hubby got Margarita pizza with ham) They sent out the wrong pizza no ham they did apologise and the pizza was nice. My carbonara though was just ok they must have just chopped up Dennys ham in it I would have preferred bacon to be honest and there were half cloves of garlic floating aroud the dish everywhere. If they are new I will probably put it down to teething problems and might go back again. Service was friedly but they were painfully slow, food not great and for 7 on a Sat in Temple bar were extremely quiet. The who decor of the place is gloomy especially toilets a few candles, soft lighting, plants and bright paint would lift this place to know end. Also there were typos on the food boards outside if they are new they would new to do a lot of adjustments.

My main was a lovely tagliatelle with garlic, wild mushrooms and white truffle oil my friend had prawns and pasta in a tomato based sauce. Picasso RestaurantPosted on 23 July 2009
I came here will my husband and father in law as as the menu looked good. I had booked and I was glad I did as the place seemed quite small downstairs upstairs thankfully there was more space. We were given a basket of bread and there were breadsticks on the table which we gratefully tucked into. I declined on a started by my husbands polpette and father in law's marinated seafood starter got top marks. My main my husband had the chicken supreme and father in law had seabass which were enjoyed. I asked for sirloin medium it was huge unfortunately found it very tough I know the longer you cook it can get tough but I could hardly cut it with a steak knife it was a pity as my accompanied potato gratin and veg was delicious. I has wished I had gone for the old faithful carbonara! I finished about quarter of it and I knew the waitress wondered why I didnt it it all I foolishly said there was tood much when I should have complained but she wrapped it up for me and I bought it home for my dog to chew on! Our desserts were lovely Tiramasu and ice cream both tasty. A round of coffees and digestifs of choice ended the evening. On the whole the free pre meal nibble and digestif were a plus as well as friendly staff and prompt service on the downside it is a little expensive, cramped downstairs, and my steak was awful the fact I could hardly cut it ruined my mains.
