The Purty KitchenPosted on 03 December 2012
I can't get over how much this place has changed for the better!!
Popped in to The Purty Kitchen early on Saturday evening on the recommendation of a friend. They were fairly busy and we didn't have a reservation but as there was just the 2 of us they made a great effort to seat us straight away and instantly we got a lovely vibe about the place.
The menu has lots of seafood options but also a good few alternatives if like me seafood doesn't float your boat. We both decided to order from the Early Bird menu for €17.50 per person.
I had a crispy poached free range eggs starter followed by a goats cheese main both were just gorgeous. My friend had the Salmon Croquettes and Prawn Linguine - she's still raving about both of them and we are already looking forward to going back.
The service was great, our waitress was lovely and was really enthusiastic in telling us all about the new set up (think the pub changed hands very recently?) and how excited they all are coming up to Christmas.
I can't praise this place enough, I only wish I lived closer to Dun Laoghaire so I could visit it a little more often!

SalamancaPosted on 01 June 2012
I chose to go to Salamanca with my family for my birthday as we all love Tapas and have all enjoyed meals there in the past!
We were not disappointed! There was a great deal where we could order 3 tapas and get a glass of wine for just 19.95! All 5 of us went for this and it's a good complaint but the portions of tapas were so big we struggled to fit all of the plates on the table!
Also, I wasn't drinking wine and neither was my dad but instead of letting us swap for a coke etc they said we could give our wine to someone else but they never actually served it to us (not a big deal, but still). I also noticed a thing on their facebook page saying if you checked in to the restaurant you would get a free glass of wine so even though I wasn't drinking I checked all 5 of us in and she said that only entitled us to 1 glass of wine, I asked if I could have a coke instead and she said no - so we didn't get that glass either.
The food made up for this 100 times over, I had the petit fillet steak which was full of flavour and perfectly cooked as I had requested, I also had ravioli which was divine along with chicken and chorizo paella which was really tasty and as much as I desperately wanted to finish it I couldn't!
Everyone else enjoyed their meals too and despite the mix up with the drinks and heavy restrictions on promotions it was still very good value for money and all of us will be back

The Step Inn Stone-Grill RestaurantPosted on 04 July 2011
4 of us dined here last night for my sisters birthday. I really enjoyed cooking my own steak - I've never experienced that before and I'll undoubtedly be back before the end of th summer to do that again. The meat was really good quality, service was friendly and excellent, we left wanting for nothing and all of us agreed that the value for money was really great, especially in this climate!

The Counter DundrumPosted on 01 January 2009
LOVE IT!!
I've been about 6 times now since it opened and although there are a few minor issues - like the draft when the door opens which is a little spine chilling and the fact that they do seem to struggle to have a full menu in stock I really really have always enjoyed my visits - it's the only place in Dundrum I will eat now - I'm totally hooked!
It's casual food so don't be expecting silver service but for a burger place it's a very new and fun concept which i think is brilliant. I am fussy about my burgers and it's a really great ordering system for me anyway!!
It would be easy to say the place lacks in atmosphere but it is a burger joint and that has to be taken in to account. I enjoy the food too much to allow that to take away from it

TribecaPosted on 01 January 2009
I visited Tribeca for the first time on Saturday evening. We made a last minute reservation and were told we could have the table for 2 hours, which to us was more than enough time. I had heard really great things and wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere was relaxing, and although they were busy - we never felt rushed or under pressure to move on. I had a chicken dish with the most amazing garlic mash which was just perfectly cooked, I left nothing but bones behind which is always a good sign!! The staff were very friendly and helpful also

Mao Restaurant (Dun Laoghaire)Posted on 01 January 2009
As some other reviewers have mentioned; Mao can be a little hit and miss. I am a regular customer as it's quite a handy place to go to in terms of parking, its prices have increased vastly in the past 12 months but it would still be considered good value for money. The service leaves a lot to be desired and I find it really takes away from a very nice menu. There seems to be a very high turnover of staff and although I'd say I have been there at least once every weekend for the past 3 years - the long-term staff never seem to recognise us....which we always find a little odd. However, we continue to return because the food is always lovely!

Tamara RestaurantPosted on 01 January 2009
I have been to Tamaras about 10 times now since it opened and each time I go there I love it more and more Besides the fact that it is SUCH good value, the staff are always friendly and attentive. I actually would struggle to find a negative word to say. I've been recommending Tamaras to my parents for months and tonight we all finally went as a family and it certainly passed their test! Great restaurant for a family, or a couple, or friends. It's just brilliant all round!
