Da Tang Noodle HousePosted on 06 May 2012
Sadly one of the worst meals I've had in a while! Came here with my boyfriend on a friday. Place was pretty quite & no one looked very happy. Staff were nice and attentive but the food was horrid.
Both of us got dumplings (one pork, one veg) both were ok but I have made far better in my home kitchen. The side sauce was too vinegary so I justed used the soya sauce of the table.
For mains my boyfriend had minced beef (looked like Quron beef!) and heated up tofu with noodles. I took tofu (very little amount) and veg with blackbean and steamed rice. Both awful!!
The rice and noodles were flavourless and unseasoned, very very bland! Both our dishes came swimming in watered down sauces that tasted of very little. Mine was so full of bamboo I could have fed an army of pandas!!! I really do recommend to stay away from here, the food is not of good quality or have any kind of passion for cooking put into it at all! Thankfully we will never return but we are annoyed we had to spend €40 on it!

Goyas Cafe & BakeryPosted on 06 May 2012
Came in here recently around lunch time with my boyfriend just to grab a coffee & sit for a few mins. The place was very busy but we got a seat (although probably one of the worst by the loos) and were quickly given our drinks. The tea was fine although the inside of the pit was black (might need a quick wash!) however my coffee was not great. I could see the barista was busy however she has no idea how to pour the milk (globs of milk anyone? - due to the way overheating the milk) and the coffee tasted like it was allowed oxidise slightly too long. It is very hard to find a barista who actually knows what they're doing with any kind of attention to detail or care. I appreciate she was busy but cafes should trains their baristas properly on how to heat and pour milk. No excuse really!
The cakes, breads and tarts did all look beautiful.

Cupan TaePosted on 06 May 2012
On a recent trip to Galway my boyfriend & I ran came in here for some lunch & tea. I got the veggie wrap (tasty, however in my opinion chunks of cooked carrot shouldn't be in a wrap) & my boyfriend took the club sandwich which was huge! Both were around the €8.50 mark, which is a little dear. We had 2 herbal teas after which came in lovely tea pots. The cakes looked beautiful also! Total for the 2 of us was €25 which is quite dear for a cafe.
The decor in Cupán Tae is beautiful, with delicate china cups & saucers, pretty napkins & pictures on the wall. The tables are very close together & we were a little unlucky to have 2 loud & giggly girls beside us. Nonetheless we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff were lovely but a little rushed off their feet as as soon as one table is free it's snapped up again! One recommendation would be that they do vegan/dairy free options of cakes or cupcakes as I would have loved to have tried one but for dietary I could not.
Really glad we came here & hope to come back again for a tea!

Kai cafe and restaurantPosted on 06 May 2012
My boyfriend and I came here on a Thursday for our anniversary dinner, we're not from Galway so we booked a good bit ahead & asked could options be available for me as I am a vegetarian (no fish) who does not eat dairy, which they assured would not be a problem. The place was near full but the lovely staff took it in their ease & made sure everyone was looked after.
For starters they created an almost work of art farm plate for myself & soft goats curd with crostini for my boyfriend. Both were absolutely delicious. For mains I was given a beautiful spelt farro with asparagus with a side of quinoa, pea & purple broccoli mimosa. My boyfriend had lamb with carrot chutney & mash on the side which he loved. Both were presented beautifully & tasted amazing! Deserts sounded beautiful but we had no room left! We had 2 glasses of prosecco to start & 1 glass of red & 1 of white with mains. We took pictures of each course as they almost looked too good to eat!!
The bill came to around €80. Although not cheap, the food, atmosphere, staff, chefs, attention to detail & accommodation to special requests were incredible! I am often left very disappointed with the food I am presented in restaurants, however here is an example of how all amazing it can be. So glad we found this gem & can't wait to return in the future!

Milano (Dawson Street)Posted on 25 September 2007
Cool place, food was brought to us fast and was very tasty. I had the Bosco salad and loved it, really good. The pizzas looks very nice also. We were seated as soon as we walked in but the place did become pretty packed soon after. Very nice menu, though it is a little restricted. Good value for money and a lovely place for dinner.

Avoca Cafe (Suffolk Street)Posted on 25 September 2007
Food is very tasty, lots of vegetarian options. However it is a bit pricey for the amount that you get. The food is always fresh and the menu changes often so there is plenty of variety. Can be hard to get seating but it's worth it in the end. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Hard Rock CafePosted on 25 September 2007
Not a very nice place to eat, although the menu has a good bit of variety the food is generally boring and unhealthy. The atmosphere is very loud and the staff seems slightly uninterested in us. The food took an age to arrive and wasn't very nice. Wouldn't go back again, not good value for money at all.

Purple Ocean RestaurantPosted on 25 September 2007
Very nice place; the purple decor made it very cool. Food was tasty and the staff were willing to add vegetarian dishes with some prior notice. Although quite expensive, it's a lovely place to go for a nice dinner.

Taco TacoPosted on 24 September 2007
Go here very often, my favorite is the vegetarian enchiladas, two very good sized enchiladas stuffed with filling and spices! Really good value and very tasty! Can either be a quick snack or a decent lunch. The food is very reasonably priced and the service is always fast and efficient.

My favorite place to eat. The food is always gorgeous, lots of flavor and looks wonderful. Delicious Asian cooking that fast and reliable. Also have very good selection of vegetarian food. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. They play cool music and the seats are very comfy! Also great just for coffee, have a break and drink a perfectly made latte. Time and time again I go here and love it a bit more each time.

BenitosPosted on 24 September 2007
Found the place to be very bland and boring. Basically nothing for vegetarians to eat other than bruschetta (and non-vegetarian cheese based dishes) Bruschetta normally I love, however it was cold, extremely over seasoned and not very fresh. The menus look cheap and sparse, the staff were unfriendly and more concerned with gossip than waiting on tables. Also very loud with hoards of children.
