The Wild Swan Chinese Restaurant
1st Floor No1, Main Street, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin, Area Code: North Co. Dublin
Reviewed 30th July 2011 ( visited 14th July 2011 )I visited here recently for a family event and there is nothing I could fault about this restaurant. We had the early bird menu which was available all night. It was great value at only €16 for four courses! The choice of starters and mains was enough to suit all tastes and there was ice-cream for dessert followed by tea, coffee and mints. The food was absolutely delicious and service was great. The staff were so attentive and helpful. I couldn't recommend this restaurant highly enough. I will definately be returning here soon!
Man Friday Restaurant
Scilly, Kinsale, Cork
Reviewed 13th August 2011 ( visited 25th July 2011 )This was our first visit to Man Friday restaurant and it certainly didn't disappoint. What a gem of a restaurant! We opted for the Early bird menu and at only €25 for three courses it was good value. The food was delicious and I couldn't fault anything! There was a great atmoshphere even for a Monday. Will be retuning again.
13 Dame Court, Dublin, City Centre South, Dublin
I visited here recently with some friends and we chose the early bird menu which was good value. The choices were somewhat limited but there seemed a good choice on the regular menu and the prices appeared to be resonable here too. The food was quite good and the duck that I chose was cooked to perfection, my friends commented that their food was tasty also. I will be returning here as I enjoyed a lovely relaxing meal.
Goldens Cove, Sneem, Kerry
We dined here as part of a package whilst staying in the hotel. When entering the restaurant the view of the water and mountains was lovely and made for a nice atmosphere. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and waited the table attentively. Choices on the menu were good and seemed to cater for every taste. The food was delicious, the salmon especially was excellent as was the banoffee that I had for dessert. We spent a leisurely couple of hours in the restaurant without feeling any pressure to leave. Would recommend this restaurant for a lovely relaxing meal.

Pacifico Restaurant & Grill
Marine Court, The Green, Malahide, Malahide, Dublin
This was my first visit to La Sirena and I had high hopes. The atmosphere was lovely when we first arrived. There was a limited choice for the starters and the mains on the early bird menu so I opted for the ordinary menu. I chose the chicken enchiladas. When they arrived I was rather dissappointed to see that the flour tortilla contained a few pieces of chicken with a small quantity of salsa and no veg. The entire thing was covered with a rather sickly cheese sauce and little else. I had paid extra for a portion of sour cream, which was not necessary as there was already so much liquid on the dish already. The enchiladas cost €18 plus €1.75 for the sour cream, very over priced for what you got. In hindsight I should have said something to the waiter. I will definately not be returning to this restaurant, very dissatisfactory experience.
The Olive Grove
Custume Pier, Athlone, Westmeath
This was my second visit to the olive grove and it didn't disappoint. The value menu is excellent and the choices are quite good. I had the deep fried cheese which was delicious, followed by the duck which was melt in your mouth! We dined upstairs because there was a show on downstairs so the atmosphere wasn't as good. But I would definately return the next time I visit Athlone.
Harveys Bar and Grill Restaurant (Above Harvest Bar & Lounge)
Main Street, Balbriggan, Balbriggan, Dublin
I have visited Harvey's three times since May and have not been disappointed. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed with music videos playing on t.v screens. The menu is vast and there is definitely something for everyone. Be warned though the portions are ENORMOUS so don't eat a large lunch before heading here for dinner. My favourite dish would have to be the chicken pieces served with a choice of wedges, fries, side salad or baked potato (2). It is a very reasonable priced restaurant which serves really delicious food.
Siam Thai (Malahide)
1 The Green, North Dublin, Malahide, Dublin
Another delicious meal in Siam Thai. I went here recently for a friends birthday and once again was not disappointed. We opted for the Early bird menu which is great value, €24 for any choice of starters plus a main course off the regular menu and it includes a side order of rice. I had the wontons, 4 with a side salad, followed by the penang curry with egg fried rice. It was my first time to try a dessert here and was glad I did, I had a wonderfully light pavlova. The staff, however, while prompt and efficient were a little sour and didn't engage in much pleasantries.
Il Sorriso Restaurant
New Street, North Co. Dublin, Malahide, Dublin
I visited here recently with a group of friends because none of us had been yet and thought we'd try it out. The menu was presented and I opted for the early bird menu. I ordered the bruschetta and was less than impressed when it arrived as it was quite small. It tasted ok if not a little heavy on the garlic. For mains I ordered Cannelloni which arrived in a dish on its own. On closer inspection I discovered that there was no cannelloni in the dish and it was basically spinach lasagne. It lacked seasoning and was not pleasant tasting at all and I left most of it. My friends meals were not any better, a chicken with pasta dish was described as tasting "like you'd made it yourself from a jar" and not in a nice homemade way. After the main course we were given the dessert menu and we were left for half an hour before anyone returned to take our orders. We all opted for coffees which were the highlight of the meal. We will most definately not be returning here.
Osborne Brasserie @ The Portmarnock Hotel
Strand Road, North Co. Dublin, Portmarnock, Dublin
This was my first visit to the Osbourne brasserie. I was pleasantly surprised at the new menu which was modern and reasonably priced. The decor was fresh and bright which made for a relaxed but elegant ambiance without being pretentious. The quality of service was excellent and the waiters were in no way intrusive yet they were there to fill wine glasses etc that needed replenishing. The food was wonderful and all of us were more than satisfied, a particular favourite was the roast breast of duck which was cooked to perfection. A special family event was made even more perfect by the overall experience of dining here. Will definitely be returning soon.
