Booked a table of ten for two friends Bday, on arrival we were lead downstairs and had the place to ourselves (though upstairs was busy). Phoned the previous day to check if it was ok to bring a cake, they said it was no problem. Staff couldnt have been more helpful or friendly, they dimmed lights for us to do the cake. There is no wine licence but they allow you to bring your own wine and dont charge corkage. The food was absolutely gorgeous, very reasonable and the menu has a great selection of dishes. They didnt attempt to rush us or put any pressure on us to leave even though we were last there. All together a great night, would highly recommend!

Nice atmosphere and decor, we went for the early bird menu and even though it was a monday night the place was very busy. The set menu didnt have as much choice as id have liked but the food was lovely. I had the chilli tortillas for starter and they were beautiful. The chicken main course was very filling but nice and after letting our dinner settle and without any pressure to leave we decided we mite manage the dessert. Choc cake was heavenly, Im surprised we managed to fit out the door! Waiting staff were all lovely and helpful. Couldnt ask for more!

The Esquire
1 Little Market Street, Tramore, Tramore, Waterford

Visited Esquire for Sunday lunch on a beautiful sunny day in Tramore. The atmosphere in the pub is lovely with lots of interesting bits to look at and glass topped tables with items such as pictures and articles underneath. The music was a lovely mix of old country such as Dolly Parton and new country like Garth Brooks. It did take the waiter a while to come back and take our order and the pub was certainly not packed. I ordered the hake which was cooked perfectly and came with a lovely salad (sadly the chips were a touch over done). My boyfriend ordered the Venison and Sausage Stew which had loads of meat and was beautiful. Id certainly reccommend the restaurant and will be visiting again. Main Courses at lunch time were only €10 and there was plenty variety. Id certainly say it was good value for money!

The Weir Bistro
Western Road, The River Lee Hotel, Cork City, Cork

Service was unbelievably slow even though restaurant was not full. Choice of dishes was limited tho dinner was included in our package so maybe the other menu might have been better. The main course lacked any potatoes or proper veg and we were very unimpressed. Certianly wouldnt reccommend it, many other beautiful restaurants in cork. My advice would be to stay in the Hotel as its fabulous but avoid the restaurant!

An Sugan
41 Wolfe Tone Street, Clonakilty, Cork

Called here Sat afternoon apx half 5, menu wasnt very exciting but apparently we were too early for the evening menu which might have been better. I got cod in batter with chips, the cod itself was nice but the chips were frozen ones and not even cooked properly, still hard. My partner had the chicken with stir fried veg and potatoes that had obviously been stuck in the microwave. Service was very fast once they eventually took our order even tho when we arrived we were the only two there. Desserts were gorgeous, strawberry pavlova and creme brulee, couldnt fault them but certainly wouldnt be rushing back for the main course!

Befani's Mediterranean & Tapas Restaurant
6 Sarsfield Street, Clonmel, Tipperary

Went here for a friends birthday, atmosphere was good, place was very busy. Took a long time to take our order and to serve the food. Being in a large group we didnt mind too much but if you were in a smaller party id certainly hope service would be faster. Food itself was lovely but a touch overpriced. In these recessionary times I think you can get much better value elsewhere :(

Zuni Restaurant & Townhouse
26 Patrick St, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

Cant see what all the hype about this place is. We went here and chose from the early bird menu. The restaurant was very busy. Selection was not brilliant. Both of us went for the confit chicken salad starter. All it was was some lettuce leaves, brown chicken, bout 5 nuts, some parsnip crisps and very little dressing, wasnt a bit impressed. Like another reviewer my partner got the steak with the €6 supplement and it was as tough as nails. I had the trout which was perfectly done but there was no sauce or anything special about it. We didnt bother with desert, had a coffee. I certainly wouldnt be recommending it to a friend and wont be back. Too expensive and nothing special.

Legends Bar (Lunch Menu) @ The Arlington Hotel
Lord Edward Street, Temple Bar, Dublin

Myself and my boyfriend choose from the Bar Menu which they serve until 6 I think andthen it transfers to the dinner and show menu. He ordered prawns to start, there was 4 of them on a tiny portion of salad. I ordered Veg Spring Rolls to start which were slightly soggy, contained no bean sprouts and seemed to contain veg in a thick veg soup sauce (Strange). For the Mains I had chicken goujons which arrived in a very thick batter that I wasnt a big fan of but the chicken was fillet and not processed like in some places. My boyfriend ordered the lasagne which he said was very bland, there was very little tomato sauce on the mince. All in all prob wouldnt eat there again im afraid.

Toscana City Centre
3 Cork Hill, Dame Street (opposite Dublin Castle), Dublin City Centre, Dublin 2, Temple Bar, Dublin

We visited this restaurant on a recent trip to dublin as it looked busy and they had what looked like good value specials. On entering the place was packed, the tables are very on top of each other. I ordered the garlic mushrooms to start, they came out covered in a creamy sauce that tasted like cambells soup and I couldnt taste much garlic. My main course was supposed to be chicken in a creamy wine and mushroom sauce. When it arrived it was the exact same sauce that my previous "garlic" mushrooms arrived in. The chicken was dry, the chips overdone and to be honest it was a struggle to get through it. My boyfriend ordered chicken wings to start which he enjoyed. His maincourse was pasta with chicken and tiger prawns in a creamy sauce (Again same as mine, they must be buying in bulk!). The tiger prawns still had shells on and due to the extremely poor lighting he didnt see that until it was in his mouth. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant Im afraid, Ive had much better quality food for less money!

The Poachers Inn Bar & Restaurant
Clonakilty Road, Bandon, Bandon, Cork

My boyfriends family are from West Cork and any time we make the journey down we always stop in here. We usually have food in the bar but on this occasion they asked us to go up to the restaurant (which we didnt even know was there). The decor was lovely, very elegant with lovely modern art on the walls. The menu has a lot of fish on it and my boyfriend usually goes for the fishpie which he loves. On this occasion I got the haddock, which was served with chunky homemade chips and a lovely salad. There was 3 large pieces of haddock which I thought I would never manage but it was so light and melt in the mouth that I finished the lot! Would highly recommend!!

The Carraig
Main St. Carrick on Suir, Carrick On Suir, Tipperary

Visited here wit a group from work. The Carraig have a great wine and dine menu with 3 course meal and bottle of wine per couple for €60total. The menu selection has something for everyone and the a la carte and bar menus have plenty choice on them also. Their steaks are renouned! There is also some special offers on during the week which makes the food great value. The restaurant itself lacks atmosphere in my opinion and could do with a more modern decor. Service is usually good but on a few occasions when very busy they can seem understaffed. Quality and taste of food though in my opinion outweighs the other tiny complaints.

La Rivista
22 Parliament Street, Kilkenny City, Kilkenny

Our second outing to La Rivista and I have to say its fastly becomming one of my favourite restaurants! We went for the Sat nite special menu, lots of choice. I had the stuffed portabello mushrooms and they have converted me to olives :). For mains I had pasta in a gorgeous creamy sauce and there was loads of chicken in it! My 3 other diners had the steak which they said was done to a turn! I had the crumble for dessert as I enjoyed it so much the last time but 2 others had "the best tirimisu they ever tasted" :) As usual the most fantastic friendly and attentive staff! Cant wait to return!!
