Temple Bar Cultural Trust announces The Sunday Times Outdoor Film Festival this summer at Meeting House Square. Running at 10.15pm every Thursday from 10th May to 14th June, the festival will feature some of the most popular films of all time - from musicals and romantic comedies to action and sci-fi.

On May 10th, film fans are invited to follow the yellow brick road to Meeting House Square and be transported to the magical land of Oz at the opening gala screening of the 1939 musical classic, The Wizard of Oz. As well as free hot chocolate and popcorn for everyone attending the movies, five lucky members of The Sunday Times Sunday Club will also be given the star treatment with a pre-movie dinner at Eden restaurant on Meeting House Square and lots of other treats on the night. "We are really excited to be partnering with The Sunday Times for a fantastic celebration of film in Temple Bar.

There is nothing like the experience of watching your favourite movies outdoors in the summer time and the new umbrellas on Meeting House Square mean that even if there is a summer shower, we will all be dry and cosy underneath!”, remarked Lorraine Maye, Events Programmer at TBCT.

Commenting on the new partnership, Kevin Anderson of News International said “The Sunday Times Ireland are delighted to sponsor the first ever Outdoor Film Festival in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar. In addition to this series of classic movies screened at the Square, we will also be giving away free movie downloads with every purchase of The Sunday Times paper as well as our exclusive VIP package for members of The Sunday Club. The Sunday Times loves film!”

Free tickets for The Sunday Times Outdoor Film Festival will be available from Sunday, April 29th through The Sunday Times’ Sunday Club, where 200 tickets will be up for grabs over the course of the festival. In addition, every week in The Sunday Times film fans can win one of five VIP packages to the festival which includes two movie tickets, a three course meal with wine in Eden restaurant, Temple Bar and other great treats on the night. Check your copy of The Sunday Times from April 29th for more details.

The festival will see sensational screenings presented at Ireland's only purpose-built outdoor cinema at Meeting House Square including cult classic Pulp Fiction, romantic comedy Amelie, the Academy Award winning film noir The Maltese Falcon and sci-fi thriller Aliens. The festival will close with everyone's favourite action adventure movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark.
