Very, very disappointing. We were expecting Eden, Temple Bar standards. Instead, we got very mediocre food. Just one vegetarian starter and one main - so no choice. Starter was microwaved - not a treatment that improves pastry. Left most on the plate - no interest from waitress. I complained that the main course was not heated evenly - the message back from the kitchen was that this was not possible! Good creme brulee with stale biscotti. This was lazy food, poorly conceived and badly executed. The friendly and attentive service of staff can't make up for the deficits of the kitchen. Grubby glasses, not matched for the reasonably expensive and very nice wine, further let the place down. Although, astonishingly, no prices are shown on the menu, this turned out to be a fixed price menu of €35. Food this poor would have been expensive at half the price.

Ate at Eden as part of a 1night stay with Dinner and B & B. Have to say the food was delicious. I had breast of pheasant to start, followed by pan seared cod with risotto and for dessert a lovely creme brulee. I could not fault any of it. My other half's steak was to die for. Great atmosphere in the restaurant set in the old cellers of the house. I'd definately go to Bellinter again just to eat in this restaurant.

I was so disappointed with Eden, I'm a massive fan of it's Dublin branch, in fact I think I'd say it's one of my very favourite restaurants. I thought it was going to be of the same quality but unfortunately the food just wasn't the same at all. I had scallops to start which were nice to be fair. However my lamb main course was very average - chewy and hard to cut. I'm not a huge fan of lamb but I order it at Eden because I know it will melt off the bone - this certainly was not the case in the Bellinter branch. Also it's in a basement, the complete opposite of the airy glass panelled Dublin Eden. Breakfast was DIRE! We went at 10.40, breakfast was until 11am - literally they didn't have a thing left......no juice, no croissants, no jam. When I asked, it was all delivered, but I feel they should keep supplying until breakfast was finished. Also the hot food that we ordered was luke warm, like they had just taken it off a buffet in the kitchen. Beautiful hotel, Eden needs to pull up it's socks.

Stayed in Bellinter House Hotel on a mini break package so a 3 course meal in Eden Restaurant and breakfast was included. I was very impressed. The food was super. Eden's famous "smokies" were gorgeous, as was the pheasant starter. For my main course I had beetroot risotto which didn't sound great but was very tasty and the desserts were lovely. breakfast the next day was delicious - I have never tasted such scrumptious porridge (with toasted walnuts and maple syrup!) Service in the restaurant was very professional. I will definitely be back.

Stayed at Bellinter House for 2nights B&B & one evening meal.It was a great time to go because there were very few people staying in the hotel, which meant we had the pool etc to ourselves, & yet the restaurant was still busy enough to have a nice atmosphere. The staff were all excellent;helpful, informative. We had Starters(I had Wild Rabbit, my other-half had the Pheasant), an Amuse Bouche, Main(Venison & Steak) & Desserts. I've worked in restaurants and eaten in what are supposed to be top-class restaurants, but I don't think I've ever had a meal where everything was perfect - normally one course lets it down, but not here, it was absolutely perfect. Perfectly cooked & presented. Every course tasted amazingly good including the dessert-the waitress recommended the Trio of Mini Babas,I can't even describe them properly, but they were all excellent. I'd stay there again just to eat in the restaurant!

We had a beautiful Sunday lunch here last week. The Eton Smokies starter stole the show - hot, tasty and gorgeous. Each main was accompanied by indivual vegetables to suit the dish. The desserts of Christmas Pudding and sorbet (Apricot, Kiwi and Cranberry) were superb. We finished the day by having a drink in gorgeous drawing room upstairs. Although the restaurant was quite empty there was a real buzz around the House itself with people coming and going all the time.

a group of us eat ere on friday night and it was well below standers, our food was served cold and the restaurant was not at all busy. the staff were not very well trained and did not understand the menu. i do not mind paying for good food but this was not at all... and the deco was very cold. i did not enjoy it at all and after complaining and our food been taken back twice to the kitchen we were still charged, and were looked at like it was our fault that there chef could not cook a steak.we left hungry. navan is really failing in good restaurants.

This came very well recommended from friends and family and while the whole experience of the place was nice, I have to admit I was a tad disappointed with the restaurant. It was fine, but really not worth what we paid for it.(75 euro for 2 mains, 2 desserts, glass wine, 1 beer - early bird menu!) We were there on St. Patrick's Day this year and were told earlier in the day we could order the pre-theatre menu. However, later on in the restaurant, staff explained that as it was a bank holiday, this menu was not 'on'. As other people had been promised the same menu as us, the manager allowed us to order the pre-theatre menu. Maybe this was our mistake! I ordered steak for the main course - it was nice but I didn't feel it was the best cut ever - it was quite fatty which I wouldn't expect in a restaurant of it's calibre & price range. I would generally order steak when I eat out and I have definitely had nicer pieces. I ordered a glass of Pinot Grigio, which at 7.50 euro is expensive, but it was the smallest amount of wine I have ever seen for that price. Again probably connected to the fact that we were allowed to order from early bird. Dessert was ice-cream in a nest which was fine, nothing to write home about. I'd think twice about driving up from Dublin to this place again solely for the restaurant. Perhaps a weekend here would be nice with spa treatments etc. I certainly won't be rushing into temple bar to try out that Eden!

I recently had the pleasure of being in Bellinter House for a family confirmation party - it was a treat from beginning to end. We were accommodated in the private dinning room which meant we could really relax and make as much noise as we wanted - and the kids could move about without annoying anyone else. Our waiter, a young french man, was fantastic - very friendly, meeting all our needs without being over attentive or stuffy - it was perfectly pitched and done with ease and professionalism (which, sadly, seems often to be lacking in the Irish service industry these days). The kitchen did a set menu for us – again – it took all the fuss out of a large family gathering – ‘choice-editing’ makes things wonderfully easy and great value for money – something which Bellinter House is offering across the board along with good food and a well balanced menu. We started with honey roast root vegetable and herb soup – it was delicious – and I’m fussy –and cannot be fooled easily. It was smooth and velvety, they had obviously taken the time to strain out the pulp, which I would expect in such an establishment (but it does not always happen elsewhere), and it was not over flavoured with salt and honey, which meant it actually tasted of the carrots and parsnips and herbs etc. It was served with well-made, what I call proper/real bread – not the pretend bread served in so many places these days. We then had a choice of either fillet of cod or cornfed chicken – the kids had great home-made beef burgers with great sourdough baps and home-cut fries. I had the cod – and will, therefore, venture further comment. It was served with chive mash and greens with a sauce vierge. The cod was beautifully cooked, moist tender flakes of cod with a crispy skin. If I was to fault anything (and on this occasion it’s a difficult thing to do) I might have served the fish with more greens and potato on the side – but this is a very personal taste/critique – I personally don’t like fish served on a bed of mash – I prefer lots of greens to keep th

The restaurant was in a historic basement & the atmosphere was all soo cosy!!!!! I had the Eden smokies for my appetizers. They were to die for... yummy yummy ...yummy. I have had these before in Eden restaurant in Temple bar and they always live upto their repuation!!! For my main course I had the oatmeal stuffed pheasant and my husband had the lamb. The food was just out of this world! It has been a long time since we had such tasty food. We were told that they have a new head chef. Keep it up !! we will definetely be back for more & wil highly recommend Eden Restaurant @ Bellinter House to our friends

Hi I must admit to being a friend of the owner of this hotel/restaurant and so when I first went there I was all the more critical as I had experienced his great work before in his previous restaurants and he had set a very high standard indeed. When you first arrive at Bellinter House the beautiful lawns and very old gracious trees on the bank of the river Boyne remind you of mythical Ireland, This is the exact place Finn Mac Cumhaill and the salmon of knowledge came together forever. Upon entering you are greeted by the nicest staff this side of the Atlantic, indeed both sides. If friendliness is next to Godliness then God is seated at your table here. You are made feel at home and safe from harm with no fuss or pretentiousness. It is like being invited to your friends beautiful Paladin home in the country for the weekend and they haven’t seen you in years and want to give you the time of your life. Beautiful rooms, bountiful amazing bathrooms, the most romantic indoor infinity swimming pool ever. All this and a wonderful restaurant too. You can choose to eat in the proper restaurant downstairs or upstairs in the grand front room next to the fire. The restaurant is part of the highly successful restaurant in Dublin called Eden. Fresh wonderfully cooked food with a menu to suit both parents and kids. The wine list is extensive and has lots of Grand Cru French wines at normal prices. Most impressive. Breakfast here is divine and having it in bed is a must. On top of all this is a beautiful old renovated stable in which there is a 5 star Spa treatment with all kinds of pampering taking place. Finally the prices are excellent and you can do a weekend here with your loved ones and still be friends with your bank manager at the end of the month. Congratulations to all at Bellinter to creating what must be the true heaven on earth in Eire.

We stayed for two wonderful nights in Bellinter mid February. My husband brought me as a valentines treat and oh did we love it. The house is fantastic, so welcoming and relaxing. If you want to chill this is the place to go. We were lucky to be upgraded to the main house and stayed in a fantastic room, wood panelling, shuttered windows, gorgeous big bed. We were on a dinner, b & b package for both nights. Eating in Eden both nights. The first night there were not many for dinner so we were seated in what is the games room. This was a good idea given the number eating. Having heard so many things about the Eden Smokies we had to try them and were not disappointed, they were gorgeous, I will definetly be cooking them at home. I had duck confit, which was ok, not a huge amount of meat but then that's the cut of the bird. Our second dinner was in the Eden restaurant downstairs in Bellinter house, it's a really lovely room. The manager was pretty much manning the place on his own so service was fine to start but as it got busier it was a little slow, however we were in no rush and relaxed over a fantastic wine. Dinner that night was beautiful enjoying salmon and beef carpaccio, followed by fillet steak and pork belly. My husband loved the pork belly. We couldn't fault the food and were surprised to see some bad reviews.

I was brought for an early Valentine as myself and my partner both work weekends, we choose Bellinter from the website and from recommendation by one or two friends who have stayed there. We arrived to a warm welcome by the girl on reception with a roaring fire in the big main room, had a cocktail before dinner and were led to a beautiful room where we were given a cheap and by all means cheerful menu happy days..... we requested the 'Eden smokies' as a friend recommended these (and had requested the recipe from the hotel previously!!!) these were not on the menu but it was not a problem getting them. I got the cornfed chicken for main course the best chicken i have had, was cooked to perfection and there was just the right amount, my boyfriend for the beef, was cooked perfectly also, and for sweet i go the chocolate gateaux and he got the creme brulee both delicious. just the perfect amount of food given and we didnt leave a scrap. After we went back to the main room again and could have sat all night. was so relaxing and well worth a visit.

Recently had a meal as we wanted to have some continental food...utterly disappointing...over priced..pretentious....i feel sometimes in these recession times hotel and restaurant runners shud work hard to impress the custom and bind them...but in Bellinter not at all...food was very bland..reads well on menu but on plate it was very flat...never the less service was just a formality....May be they need a Really good chef and good training manager...Have 2 order fish n chips after paying 100 euros for meal here......never again

I keep getting suckered into going to this place...every time, I experience really bad service, snobbie and untrained staff, and being charged way too much for what I am getting. It is the overall experience of this whole establishment, think twice about driving all the way out to this hard to find place. It really isn't worth it.

The menu is pretty standard over priced for Navan with poor service. What's new in Rip off Ireland? I had dined there twice before and both times were average. My colleagues are located in Navan and i ventured from Dublin they had given me a voucher for Bellinter, 10 months previous. Hence, i forgot the voucher the Sunday we dined and of couse it has expired. Just to make a point they did not renew the voucher and it is no loss to reiteriate bad service. I will not be frequenting Bellinteer again.

What a fab house but such a let down with the food and restaurant. It felt like we were caught in 60's time warp. Eden smokies consisted of that horrible injected smoked haddock, naturally smoked would have been far superior. The chef had then forgotten to season the fish of the day (cod) in any shape or form, bland, dry and tasteless. the ravioli did not fare any better but the belly of pork was very good. the only saving grace were the desserts, hot chocolate souffle, amazing and the creme brulle, perfect. Not enough for us to go back I am affraid.

This is where I go with friends & Family on a special occasion because it is very expensive but worth it. My favourite thing about this place is the place! As soon as you drive in & approach this old building which I think used to be a convent and walk in the door your somewhere special. They should be proud of the interior & furnishings really art deco and funky! Anyway getting on to the restaurant ... little narrow spiral staircase down to it is so old world they should be clapped on the back for keeping it.Food is really nice great chefs obviously working hard only reason I didnt give 5 stars is that people I have eaten here with (not me!) find it ridiculous that you must pay for side order of veg to accompany your main meal and given the price you should expect that and other reason is that vegetarians dont have much of a choice actually none only 1 vegetarian option on set menu so like it or lump it at least two would be better so TAKE NOTE please as I will be back and I dont eat fish either unfortunately!

I ate here a couple of weeks ago-I have to say I expected great things. On arrival I was surprised by having to walk down a windy staircase that looked like the stairs down to the kitchen-once arriving in the dining area I also was surprised by the decor-it was not in keeping with the rest of the house and had stark white ceilings and overall not a terribly good atmosphere. The food got better by course and the chocolate souffle was by far the best dish. The service was good however with the waitress being attentive enough without being overpowering. Overall it was a mediocre experience and I probably would not bother returning

Myself & my husband ate here as part of an overnight package at the hotel. We expected the usual 'set menu' from our package but ended up with a free rein on the 'al a carte'. It was gorgeous. Only negative is it lacks atmosphere - modern & a little sterile.
