I love this place! Has become my regular place I bring people! Great early bird menu. Food was lovely. Drinks a bit pricy, but I'm not an expert!

I was really looking forward to a family gathering at the Dunderry Lodge as it was the first time we had been together in along time. I must admit I left the restaurant very disappointed with the whole experience, and felt embarrassed that I had invited family members to have a meal there, The portion sizes were very small, the adults received the same tiny portions that the children received and between 9 diners we received 1 small dish of mashed potatoes and 1 small dish of chips,( with copious amounts of cauliflower sent to the table and 2 small dishes swede and carrots). Overall the main dish was very disappointing and we certainly had an appetite for the dessert menu. Thinking they couldn't get that wrong, again we were disapponted, the portion sizes were miniature. The lighting above our table was very poor, there was 2 chandeliers in the area we dined, 1 of the chandeliers had only 1 bulb working with 4 broken and the other chandelier had only 3 bulbs working. There was only 1 positive, the waitress was pleasant. My overall impression was that they didn't have enough food in the kitchen and they were trying to make the food they had, go as far as possible. I can honestly say I was disappointed, I didn't say anything at the time as I didn't want to create a scene but I certainly will not be back.

this was the first time i had been here in a long time and i was diappointed to see how run down it had become on the outside. i went for the early bird option which was good value but the portion sizes were quite small. the service was friendly from some but cold from others. this restaurant has become very hit and miss

4 of us ate here last night, and it was a really lovely relaxing dining experience with excellent food, good service and a brilliant set menu for 25 euro which included a 10oz fillet steak. Will be recommending to friends.

I used to come to Dunderry Lodge all the time but was very disappointed to see how badly run down it had become. The service was truely appalling. we were given freshly made bread on arrival but when we asked for butter it was quite literally thrown at us. Our meal was okay but nowhere near the quality it has previously been. i hope that it regains its former glory sooner rather than later.

I hadnt been to Dunderry lodge in quite some time and i decided to google it to see how things were in these recessionary times and was very dissapointed in what i read on this site. I decided to go and pay it a visit for myself to make up my own mind as i had always found it a very enjoyable restaurant.Myself and my husband arrived to a packed carpark but i must say it did seem a little run down.Walking into the front entrance we were greeted by a friendly smile and a packed lounge area that was full of atmosphere. We hadnt booked and now realised this was a mistake but the lady at the desk didnt think this would be a problem as long as we were willing to have a drink in the lounge and wait 15 mins.Perfect we thought as we were out to enjoy an evening. We had two drinks in the lounge and were then brought to our table. We enjoyed garlic prawns and duck and leek spring roll for starters followed by panfried Seabass for myself and Guinea Fowl for my husband which was absolutely stunning and at great value. Would recommend it to any of my friends and will definetely be going back.

what can i say??? this place used to be THE place to go around navan and now i can only tell people to steer well clear. Dunderry lodge relies on reputation as it would get no passing trade due to its location.and that reputation has gone down big time. I really cannot believe how bad it has gotten. not just the food but also the building has got so shabby. when we visited we commented on how few cars were in the car park.the place was empty. (people steering clear already perhaps) after having a drink we were seated and the(empty) resturant was freezing. the heat was on apparently the menu selection was poor. the food was totally tasteless . soup was appalling. garlic mushrooms served covered in a sauce making them soggy. main course again bland and all garnished with weeks supply of chopped chives. awful. dessert was desperate. one of my fellow diners thought the sticky toffee pudding tasted burnt. and was horrified to see christmas pudding still on the menu in the third week of january. am only rating service and thats because the place was so quiet so we were not kept waiting.a great big fat zero for every other catagory. however the website tells me i cant give a 1/2 star so scoring 1 for that reason alone. in summary.... stay away. a ham sandwich from a petrol station, eaten in your car would be better than going here.

Once one of the nicest restaurants in the county what a difference a couple of years make. I was so disappointed with my recent visit to this restaurant. We were seated outside by the fire where we ordered our drinks & looked at the menu (this is the usual practice for the restaurant). Half an hour later after ordering our food from our fire side chairs I began to wonder would we be eating our dinners on our laps beside the fire so I asked to be seated again. 3/4 of an hour later I asked again about our table. Finally we were seated & our starters brought almost immediately. As I looked around there were only two other tables occupied. I wondered what the delay was in seating us! I was surprised it was so empty as it was the Oct bank holiday. The main course arrived BLAND BLAND BLAND dreadful food - cover it in gravy it would seem to try to give the food taste. Absolutely shocking that they serve up such dreadful food! And then there was the desert - Pavalova my favourite - how could you go wrong? Believe me you can in this restaurant. I really had to say something & ended up speaking to the manager. Frankly the offer of another pavalova just didn't work for me, as it was going to taste the exact same as apparently it was a particular receipe that the chef uses! I couldn't get out of this restaurant quick enough - I was starving anyway! Zero for atmosphere, food, service, value.

Took my mam to the lodge for an early dinner on Sunday, although it was not busy at all there was a nice atmosphere while we sat in front of a lovely open fire while we had a pre-dinner drink and placed our wine and food order. I was very disappointed to be handed two menus, neither of which were complete. When I received yet another two the waitress could not find one that had a full menu and wine list in it. A set menu is offered with dessert yet there is no indication of what desserts may be on offer. The set menu contains lots of lovely dishes yet they are not available on the a la carte menu? I have to say the the meal was lovely, I had the pate which is clearly home made, very pleasant and light. For mains we had the fillet beef and the beef wellington. Both were quite substantial and cooked to the correct temprature. Veg served with them were not overcooked, just right. No room for dessert :( Overall a good experience but definitely need to sort the menu issue as it's good food that is not being advertised correctly!

This restaurant has gone way down hill in recent years - it used to be one of my favourites both for atmosphere and quality of the food. If you're vegeterian don't expect many options on the menu!
