Had lunch with a friend here, had a beautiful low-fat chicken wrap which was lovely and light in the hot weather. Had to have a little something sweet so went for the apple crumble icecream which is just delicious - highly recommended.

We popped in for a quick cuppa yesterday afternoon and were seated in the bay window - stunning views from this restaurant. Tea and cakes were good, great selection of desserts and a lovely choice of cheesecakes. We had White Chocolate and Marshmallow - yummy! Will definitely be back when the opportunity arises. Thanks again.

We had a family night out in Relish for my mothers significant birthday. We have been to Relish on other ocassions and were always pleased. I just wanted to comment to Jackie and her staff on how wonderfully we were looked after on this recent visit. There was 15 in our group and everyone commented on the wonderful food and service. This is a little gem and its always busy with a great atmosphere and very reasonable prices. We will definetly be back.

I have eaten here several times as my parents live close to Bettystown.the food is generally decent and they have good value on wines. Unfortunately we have nearly always had issues with the service either being extremely slow or just plain rude. While some staff are lovely and very obliging others have a very poor attitude generally. The last straw came last week when after coming home to vote I came to collect my mother and aunt who had dined with another two family members. They invited me to join them for dessert but I settled for a coffee. What followed was a complete farce as the waitress without saying a word came and grabbed the chair off me to put at a table for which the guests were arriving. This would not have been a problem had she politely explained this and offered a solution but despite us trying to ask her was there a stool or something we could use she walked away leaving me standing there. As there was no sign of anyone returning to advise us I grabbed a chair from an empty table. The waitress then returned to take the order for dessert including my order for coffee.Five minutes later she came back and said I Couldn't sit there. At this stage I just got up and said I would wait in the car to protests from my relatives. The waitresses response was that I hadn't ordered food but if I wanted I could have my coffee at another table across the room. This despite the fact that the others had each had Three courses and no shortage of wine etc. Their bill was significant. This and the fact that she had taken my order for coffee wirhout saying anything at that stage was just too much. I left very embarrassed and my relatives followed a minute later without their desserts. I won't be back!

Have been here twice in the last 4 weeks and had the early bird menu both times which is great value. The food was fantastic especially the homemade white chocolate and marshmallow cheesecake! We hadn't booked so were lucky to get a table both times. The only downside is the service is quite slow - waiting at the front door for a long time before anyone approached us. Other than that Relish is a lovely place serving great food at great prices.

Dreadful experience today in this restaurant ,we were shown to a table for 2 that was available , after a moment the girl who seated us asked could we please vacate the table within an hour as it was booked for a later reservation, we have been previously , this restaurant cannot cope with busy periods , having ordered 40 mins previously i eventually had to go to the service desk as to enquire as to what the delay was in getting our Starter , the Managers response was "Where are you sitting " she had passed our table on a number of occasions and yet was unaware that we were in her restaurant . Overall the staff look hazzled, they have very little interest in watching what is occuring at tables , several tables had finished their courses and and were left with their plates in front of them for an unreasonable period of time .

I went back here with my boyfriend for his birthday. We had reserved the window seat and I am absolutely in love with the place again. The sandwiches are absolutely gorgeous, we both had chicken sandwiches and they both had this gorgeous garlic mayo. We treated ourselves to dessert and I got the white chocolate and marshmallow cheesecake. I was gutted I couldn't finish it, it was actually the best thing I have ever tasted. I wanted to bring the rest home in a doggie bag, but couldn't summon the courage to ask. I love this place, it is definitely worth a 50 minute trip from Dunshaughlin :D

I recently went for lunch in Relish while in Bettystown and it was fantastic. Their was plenty of options on the menu and the service was pleasant and very quick. I had the fish and it was cooked perfectly and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

I visited Relish on a Saturday morning for breakfast. The Service we received was fantastic - considering the place was very busy the staff done an excellent job and ensured that we had everything we needed on a number of occasions. We both had the mini breakfast and it was just excellent - the bacon was cooked to perfection and it was great value! Unlike many other busy cafes etc we weren't rushed off our table and enjoyed a delicious coffee following our breakfast. The views of the beach are wonderful and I am looking forward to my next visit very soon!

i visited this restaurant recently with my friend and a young infant. i had heard great feedback from this restaurant and was certainly not let down by the experience as a whole. i was greeted and seated by a young waitress instantly and was given a comfortable seat with a beautiful view of the sea. the atmosphere was very calming in the restaurant and felt very homely. i ordered the bombay chicken salad served with garlic bread and my friend had the cod goujons. both dishes were presented beautifully and were delicious. afterwards we couldnt resist their great selection of homemade desserts. i opted for the apple crumble with apple crumble ice cream and my friend had the oreo and toffee cheesecake which were both amazing. the waitresses were very warm and friendly and i am looking forward to my next visit.

I was visiting relations in the Bettystown area and they recommended this fine restaurant. We were delight when we walked in and saw the few toys to occupy our children, it got even better when we were seated out the back and the children were able to access the beach while we watched them. All the staff were very pleasant and bent over backwards to accomodate the childrens tastes. We were all very very satifed with the quality, portion sizes, value for money and service. We could not reccommend this tasteful little restaurant highly enough to our friends. WE woulsd strongly reccomend a visit if your in the area.( we would reccomend the chicken gougeons).

Was here this morning with a family member for a birthday breakfast. Was here a few times before and whilst the food was always good, past experiences were let down by the service. This morning however, the experience was an all time low. I've only joined this site today to register my annoyance at such bad customer service. On arriving at the restaurant we were met with a very cold welcome. Having hurriedly taken our orders, despite the place only being half full, the waitress appeared some minutes later without a word and literally dropped our plates in front of us. 20 minutes later having finished out meal, which was nice, i was gobsmacked that neither of the waitresses had come to ask if it was satisfactory or if we would like something else. I went to pay at the register at this time- no 'how was your meal', simply a €21.65 bill and goodbye. However good the food may be (it's certainly good but nothing you could not rustle up at home), the restaurant management need to recognise that customer service goes a long way in creating a good dining experience. Really really dissapointing experience as if the service was a lot better, we would certainly be dining there more. Pity.

I found relish very cramped and too warm as i have a young child it didn't work out very well. The service wasn't the best and the food was not worth the price, it was very small portions.

I had the toblerone cheese cake which I found to be very luscious T had the aplle pie with apple pie ice cream which was absolutely out of this world. I cant wait to go back!!!

Having eaten here on a number of occasions we decided to return last Saturday for a Girls in the Family lunch, there was myself, my mother, my sister and her two small kids (4 & 1). We had booked a table for 2pm which was not ready when we arrived and then when it was finally ready they had no highchair even though that was specified at the time of booking so my sister had to deal with a wriggling 1 year old on her knee till one was found. We were given menus and then left for over 20 mins until we ordered, our drinks had to asked for twice before arriving, our food took a further 45 mins to arrive (2 selection of breads with "dips" which was just one dip of some olive tapenade with too much oil, not great at all. The two kids were at this stage crying because of the hunger. Our mains arrived 1.5hrs after we ordered, they were nice, tasty and good sized portions, though my crab cake was a little "wet" inside the crumb coating. We decided against getting desserts or coffees as we would have been there even longer and to be honest it was an experience I wanted to be over with as soon as possible. We were not the only complainers as I heard a man who was sitting at another table giving out about the wait to one of the waitresses. Relish does lovely food with a fabulous view but I nor anyone in my family will be returning. They need to get more staff in the kitchen or something because waiting that long for something so quick to whip up is just ridiculous, oh and we had to get up from the table to ask a waitress for cutlery AFTER our starters had been served. Needless to say, we didn't leave a tip. Such a shame as it has such good potential.

Came here yesterday for evening tea with 3 friends and we all came away more than satisfied. As a vegetarian it can be difficult to find good food but the Mediterranean Veg salad was delicious, as was the cadburys flake cheesecake. With an amazing view overlooking the beach the atmosphere is very relaxed, and staff were really lovely. Will definitely come back here next time I am up in Bettystown.

I have been to Relish before for an evening meal with some friends and decided to go back this time with my partner. As before, I found the menu selection to be excellent with something for all tastes. We had the antipasto to share for starter. I had the tiger prawn pasta and my partner had lamb shank. For dessert my partner had a mango and passion fruit cheesecake and I had an Irish coffee. The food was really tasty and well seasoned. The prawns in my main were really fresh and the sauces were flavorsome and had a lovely texture. The cheesecake was a light option after the main. I found that Relish had a really pleasant atmosphere and the views are stunning. The staff were welcoming, well informed and were enthusiastic at recommending dishes. I will definitely be going back to Relish and I am really eager to try their day menu. I highly recommend Relish to anyone for a taste of excellent food and service at a very reasonable price.

I go here quite alot for day time food and i love it , great place for meeting for a chat. The food is just ok, nothing amazing no great culinary skills exhausted here, but the staff and ambience makes up for this. I have dined here three times at night and my advice don't go, the food is the same as day but its restaurant prices and as such I would expect my sauces not to come out of a jar. I feel they have not made the transition from cafe to restaurant. I will always continue to go there during the day.

I love this Restaurant,I haven't been in awhile but it is still as good as ever.I booked a table and when we got there, I didn't like the table we were been shown to, I said it to the waitress, she was more than plesent in showing us to a different table. The menu has a good choice and it was good value for money. The service was excellent as was our food.I would highly recommend this restaurant day or night.I've had morning coffee here with their excellent homemade scones. I've had lunch here always good. If your thinking of going here for lunch or dinner you will need to book.

I went to this place for lunch this afternoon (Sunday) and I have never in all my life have been served so terribly. The manager / owner sat us at our table and then tried her best to completely ignore us. My boyfriend had to ask could we place our order (after 20 mins had passed) - which she didn't write down and then another 10 passed before she brought the wrong drinks and then another 5 mins before she came back to "double check" our order - which she had clearly forgotten to place. Fast forward another 30 mins to when the food came out. My boyfriends chips were cold coming out and the filo pastry tart was meant to come with brown bread - which I didn't get. After waiting so long for the food, I didn't say anything because I would still be sitting there waiting for my bread now if I had! Never have I been so rudely treated or had such terrible service. I earn decent enough money and I love to reward good service in a restaurant - I'm a big tipper. Never in my life have I left a place without leaving even a small tip - I guess today was my first. It was also my last - last time at Relish that is - if you feel like being treated as if your invisible and your custom doesn't matter, then this is the place for you!!

Had lunch here again.Hasn't disappointed me yet Walked on the beach beforehand. What a beaufiful setting.. Very efficient friendly service. We had a window seat which was lovely.Had the house red wine at €10 which is excellent quality. We shared the salami and cheese platter for a change. Good menu choice. This place is always pretty busy which is great to see.

Myself and a number of friends visited Relish at the weekend, there were two young children with us. This restaurant is very adult and child friendly as there is an outside area out the back that allows the children to blow off steam whilst their parents can watch over them. The food and staff were also very good. Our party had starters of crab claws, deep fried courgette flowers, goats cheese salad and all were great. Main courses were also very good, portions were a good size and nice variety, fish and chips, lamb (huge portion and very good), vegetarian stir fry was not very tasty. Desserts were the highlight, we had key Lime pie, Galaxy Cheesecake, Carrot Cake and Chocolate brownie and they were all excellent, freshly made and delicious. If I lived in Bettystown this place would be my 'local'!

Came here after some recommendations and it was for my mother in law's 70th birthday. Made a booking on their website, arrived only to find out they didn't get it or missed it..so we were tucked into a tight table. They weren't apologetic at all. Food was only ok. Ordered children's menu, 'homemade' hamburger with cheese for my boy, burger arrived without cheese. Then it came back and burger was rock hard and dry. Very disappointing for such a nice place and I do believe they DO have nice food..but that day was a really nice day and there were lots of people in restaurant so maybe quality of food might be affected? Anyways, we might drop in again, but probably NOT for a meal, maybe a cuppa and desserts.

Had to wait an hour as was full house when we arrived. Wasn’t a prob. When we were seated we had chicken Cajun burger with chips, my hubby had some kind of wrap with chicken in it and skinny chips. Our daughter had chicken goujons no chips. I thought for €8.95 hers was a bit mean as there were no chips. For dessert I had rhubarb crumble, the hubby had berry tart yum for his. Our daughter had chocolate cake. Quite spongy, not the best choc cake I’ve tasted, to much sponge. Staff were very pleasant but we had this one couple that never stopped looking at us which I thought was very rude, but the tables are very close together, still v annoying though. Cost us about €55 nice enough as a once off.

i visited this place for lunch with 2 friends. we all had burgers which were absolutely delicious, followed by white chocolate and marshmallow cheesecake which was very enjoyable, although quite heavy. The food was excellent, however the atmosphere was not great. the restaurant tables are very close together. It was also very noisy, full of children, and quite humid and stuffy. Although it was a saturday i wouldnt expect such a crowd at 4 o clock, if i went again I would book a table

Mmmmm yummy yummy! We went here for Sunday lunch and hadn't thought to make a reservation. Luckily, despite being extremely busy, they were able to find us a table on the terrace overlooking the beach. The decor inside seemed nice and homely but given it was warm day, we were glad to be outside enjoying the sunshine. There was a couple of tempting dishes on the menu to choose from. However, it was only after we had ordered did we spot the specails board which offered even more mouth-watering alternatives. That are waitress didn't bring it to our attention would be my only complaint. The staff were friendly and relaxed which served to compliment the general ambience. My main of spicy chicken and red cheddar quisedella served with salad and lashings of sour cream was a packed some real mexican flavoured punch. My fellow diner's spaggetti carbonara was a hearty flavoursome affair. My cadbury flake cheesecake was extraordinary - sweet, crumbly and chocolatey. His choclate fudge cake was a gorgeous gooey treat. It was amazingly good value, especially given the quality of the food. Our two mains, a side of chips, 2 deserts, a glass of wine and 2 coffees came in at just €48. I can't wait to go back again

Lovely location for a restaurant and the house its in is very nicely styled. Great views of the beach but unfortunately Bettystown beach has cars parked all over it so its like looking at the M50 in grid lock. A real shame. Food was very nice here but the only drawback was the slow service. We had a toddler and just going in for a bite of lunch took 2 hours nice if you can do it but toddlers don't have that staying power. Also served by 4 different people and when I got dessert it was really a very small slice of cake and the ice cream had melted beside it. not good for 5.50 euro so I sent it back which is something I have never done in a restaurant. It was not a problem getting it changed but it was an annoyance. I would go back for the dinner menu as the value menu is a good offer.

Myself and a friend ate here around 4pm last Saturday. When we arrived the place was fairly packed but we got a table straight away. The cafe itself is lovely with a gorgeous view onto the beach. As the place was busy, the service was a little slow but I guess that is to be expected. We both ordered the Pasta Carbonara which was gorgeous and came with a lovely side of Garlic bread. We were both very happy with our choice. We also shared a bottle of the house Sauvignon Blanc which was very nice and perfectly chilled. Can't wait to go back and try out the dinner menu!!

We ate here for the 3rd time last Sunday and arrived at 5:25 with no booking. We didn't think we would have made it in time for the lunch session which ends at 5:30 but the waitress presented us with the lunch menus and brought us to our table. I ordered a small caesar salad to start and chicken goujons with skinny fries for main. Other half ordered soup of the day (mushroom) and also went for the chicken goujons with skinny fries. Salad was to die for. Just the right amount of dressing, which may I add was homemade. Mushroom soup came with homemade brown bread and there was no complaints from himself. After the starter, the waitress came back to say there was only 1 portion of chicken goujons left so we substituted one order for the cod goujons. Portion sizes are huge for the price. Only problem was the chicken goujons tasted like fish!! They had obviously been thrown in the frier with the cod. I'm not a fan of fish tasting chicken but luckily enough himself agreed to swap half and half so I was happy. Two starters, two mains and 3 bottles of budweiser all came to €48 which is great value. All in all, it was probably the most disappointing of my 3 visits but I usually love the chicken so I will give them another chance! Also, cod as a main is excellent! Portion size is enormous and I usually struggle to finish it! Service can be slow sometimes as the restaurant is split into two rooms and attempts to grab the waitresses attention can sometimes be missed. Any time I have been in, the place has been at capacity which is a good sign considering the times.

Have eaten a couple of times in here for Breakfast on a sunday. They don't open Mondays or Bank holidays which is annoying (the bank hol) as there is not much choice elsewhere. Love the views and the decor but food is average. Had a brekkie with fried egg and the egg was over cooked on the underneath so it was chewy and not nice. HAve got the brown bread toasted with poaced eggs a few times which the eggs were great but the toast was burnt (on three occasions!) Said it to the waitress a couple of times that the bread is always burnt and she said she'll say it to chef, nothing changed though. Its also quite loud due to wooden floors to not a good place with kids there (I have none so prefer a restaurant with no kids). But they seem welcome there. Overall, very good setting and views but food is average and service not great

Relish should be renamed Delish! The food here is nothing short of amazing and great value. At only ten euro for a bottle of wine and the amazing early bird specials, the current economic crisis is far far from your mind! The mushroom crostini is a must for any mushroom lover and the bombay chicken will definitely be the ticket for my return!

Completely disagree with the previous review. Loved everything about it. I can't rave enough about this restaurant. The food was incredible, fresh, seasonal and full of flavour. The atmosphere was chatty and full of fun. The service was prompt, friendly and helpful and it was more than worth what we paid. The wine at E10 is exceptional value. Will definately go back

We decided to go to the relish as we had heard lots of great things about it. I phoned a couple of times and there was an out of date answer message on the phone. I never got a call back so just turned up hoping to be able to get a table. We all had the luch time menu Our company found theirs ok. I had the salmon and prawns on brown bread which was far to heavy. once we got our food we did not have anyone come around to see that the food was ok or if we needed another refreshment. After about 30 minutes of the plates sitting in frount of us they came now i have to say was surprised it took so long as it was not that busy. My overall impression was it lacked customer service and we felt that we were not good enough to be eating there a mistake we shall not be making again.

Little Gem in Bettystown and very impressed. The Owner used to own a place in drogheda burt has moved out to bettystown. The Derserts are great so keep room in the tummy to try them out. I had the Cajun chicken pasta and it was just lovely my friend had the goats cheese and veg tartlet which was served so nicely. We shared a carmel slice as they are large portions. Will defo be back.

We've been here many times for lunch, but we had our first evening meal here last Friday. The evening menu is very well thought out, with something for everyone. We were both very happy with our mains, everything was very fresh and well cooked. As usual the home made deserts were to die for and the atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be back for the evening menu.

Was out for a lovely stroll on Bettystown beach on Sunday and decided to pop in to Relish for Brekkie... thinking it would be quiet!!! how wrong was I, it was packed as we had to wait until a table was vacant....went for the full Relish breakfast which was lovely but I thought a little expensive at E10.00 orange juice etc., extra... overall it was nice, seaview fabulous especially on a beautiful Sunday morning....

My partner and I visit here often, sometimes for a meal, sometimes for a cuppa and a cake. On every occassion we have left extremely satisfied with every aspect. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection using the finest ingredients. It is tremendous value and the staff are always plesent. The atmosphere is great as it is always busy. We highly recommend it for breakfast, lunch, evening meal, or afternoon tea.

My husband and I went here for dinner last night. It's not the first time we visited here and as always the food and service were great. We had the relish platter to start and it was beautiful In fact if you are the kind of person who prefers starters to main course then this would be great for you as it was so tasty. My husband had the scampi and it was as fresh as can be. I also thought that it was very reasonable priced 2 starters, 2 mains, a bottle of wine and a coffee came to 75 euro. It's not cheap but it is reasonable. The menu isn't overflowing with choices but honestly if everything on the menu was as good as what we had then a smaller choice with great food is definitely what I would go for every time. I can agree with other reviewers about the service being slow at times but if you can live with that then a trip to Relish is worth it.

Myself and my husband arrived at Relish on Saturday evening, the 4th of October with our two children. Although we hadn't pre booked a table, I felt the welcome was particularly warm, and the staff catered exceptionally well with our 2 children. They provided colours and toys for the kids while we enjoyed our meal which I must say was of the best standard. I would highly recommend relish to all, whether it be a family, a large group, a couple etc.

Not far from where I live and have popped in for a late breakfast early lunch a few times. Always busy but for me the food just wasn't the best. On one occasion I had ordered a club sandwich and asked for no tomatoes. It came with tomatoes and also the added extra of egg shell. On another occasion myself and my girlfriend ordered and 45mins later we still had no food in front of us. My girlfriend politely inquired to the manageress who snapped back "well our burgers take time to cook" which wasn't stated on the menu as in most places. Haven't been back since and in no rush and the burger wasn't worth a 45min wait!

A lovely setting to enjoy a nice lunch beside the sea. Service is pretty dull and staff aren't the friendliest, doesn't come across as a cafe with very high standards but nice all the same. Food is good, a bit pricey for what it is.

Having decided to go for a drive my girlfriend ended up in Bettystown. We looked for somewhere to eat and found relish and we were glad we did. The location was good with a nice beach and sea view. The food and service were very good. I went for the steak sandwich the girlfriend crab cakes both very good. For afters the white choclate and marshmallow cheese cake was really good. The meal location and service were great. Will definitely go back.

I ate here for the first time last week with a friend of mine and I have to say it was lovely. It was a very busy lunchtime period but we weren't waiting too long to get a table. The restaurant was very tastefully decorated with beautiful views of the sea. The choice on the menu was pretty good. I had the pasta and avocado salad with garlic ciabatta which was divine!! My friend had a chicken panini which she said was lovely. Overall cost was very reasonable with efficient and friendly service. I would definitely return.

Absolutely perfect afternoon, sitting outside in the sunlight watching the ocean with the food spot on. I went with my boyfriend and we had a 1/2 carafe of white wine. The food was fantastic. I had the crab salad, which was light and fluffy, but there was not enough salad; fortunately, boyfriend doesn't eat salad so I was able to combine his side salad with my dish. He had the steak sandwhich which looked good, but he reports that the gravy was packet, not homemade. Our deserts were good - my white choc/marshmellow cheesecake was perfect; his chocolate brownie a little dry, but overall, I would definitely return here!

My husband and I made our second visit to Relish on a beautiful sunny evening and had a fabulous table and some fabulous food. Starters were duck spring roll (almost ALL duck) and the nicest chicken goujons with garlic mayo I've ever tasted. Delicious. My husband ordered 'Surf and Turf' for his main as he couldn't decide between having a steak and having scampi. Unfortunately, when it arrived, I just had to offer to swamp my dinner for his - the surf part actually consisted of prawns in a Marie rose sauce sitting up on top of the steak - and he hates Marie rose sauce more than almost anything in the world - he literally went green. I must admit, that separately - I love the two component parts, but one on top of the other as presented, I wasn't crazy about trying. In retrospect, we should have said something - as the sauce wasn't mentioned at all in the dish description. I scraped it off the top of the steak and ate them separately, but the Marie rose sauce still sat in the grooves of the steak and really didn't do anything for it (steak was top quality, by the way). I'll be more careful about asking how food is to be served as it really was a shock and it's a shame to pay €28 for something that you weren't expecting. It's still a lovely spot and we will continue to visit - might be a bit more conservative with our order though. I hadn't room after that for desert, so although normally fab, we had to skip it on this occasion.

I would highly recommend!! Service is good. Food is fresh, very tasty and well presented. 3 of has the Quesadilla's. The portions are huge and this dish could have been shared between 2. The chicken goujons are also very very nice. The coffee they serve is also top notch. Great atmosphere and super location. Will be back to sample their breakfast menu.

Second trip to Relish - the first was so good we had to come back quickly. Both times we arrived early afternoon, when lunch service was winding down and the staff should have been getting rather tired of the sight of customers and both times the welcome was really friendly. First time round we both ordered the crab cake and were rewarded with a really spectacularly good dish, light and fluffy and never a hint of powdered mashed potato - just lovely light fish and crab - don't know how they did it. And the salad was equally impressive. Baby leaves in the same sort of mix you find most places but a bit fresher and crunchier and no sense of mass production. Second trip we thought we'd have the same again but alas, all out of crab cakes. So I had the roasted vegetable couscous and himself had the crab salad. Veg had been roasted a fair bit earlier and got tired sitting around waiting and the couscous was not longer separated but dissolving into slime. And while the crab was fresh and flavoursome the salad was much older than the earlier model - which is fine if it is made up of interesting leaves but this one wasn't. I've met it in my local supermarket under a well advertised brand name. Dressing was good and home made but overall there had been slippage. Coffee wasn't as good as last time either. So its a could try harder this time around. A shame as the whole Relish concept is very well designed and last time was well executed. This is a good modern cafe designed to fit a modest local budget and entice regulars in through the doors - so get the salads back on track guys and don't cook the whole day's cous cous in one batch or I, for one, won't be back

If you fancy a drive at the weekend I would recommend here as place to stop for lunch/dinner. The food here is great. Its always busy, great atmosphere and situated on the beach. Children are welcome. You could be forgiven for thinking you were on holidays when dining outside in the summer (or at least when the sun shines). The service is friendly and there is a great choice on the menu. At peak times you may have to wait for a table but it will be worth it.

I just returned from a two night break in Bettystown. We were eating in our hotel the first night and wanted to try somewhere different on the second night. A cursory glance around Bettystown didn't net any obvious choices. I was actually afraid that were going to have to resort to eating in the Funfair Restaurant. However, a bracing walk down the main street revealed "Relish". I decided to go in and have a coffee and check it out for the evening. The minute I walked into the restaurant, I was taken aback by how truly lovely it was. The sea views were fabulous and as I sipped my delicious cappuccino and watched the waves beating against the wall, I knew I had found a real gem. The cappuccino was deliciously frothy with real chocolate, but this restaurant had a lot more substance than froth as the later dining experience was about to reveal. From the onset, the owner was so friendly and accommodating. I informed her we were all vegetarian and she assured me she could provide my children with whatever they wanted. We returned to the restaurant at 6.00. It was well decked out in candles and the atmosphere was so cosy. We ordered two bruschettas for starters, to share. They were absolutely delicious, dipped in pesto with succulent fresh tomato, basil and garlic and plentiful enough to share. My children ordered pasta with tomato sauce and a ciabatta pizza with black olives. Chips were also produced for them to share. Hubbie went for a delicious stir fry which was exquisitely flavoured with ginger and Soya. I had a roast vegetable penne dish which arrived garnished with garlic bread and fresh Parmesan in a bowl. We washed this down with a delicious Shiraz. The girls shared a chocolate fudge cake and we very boldly decided on another glass of wine. I just didn't want the night to end. Even though the restaurant was very full, the staff were so friendly. The waitress enquired as to how we had come upon the restaurant and the owner came over the talk to us. I was so impressed by the energy.
