7 of us all fmaily recently ate here. First time and have to say was extremely enjoyable. A lovely setting coupled with a nice summer evening added to the overall experience. The restaurant has a good range of options on the menu about 8 starters/mains & desserts. Starters ordered included the chowder with the smoked fish was the best i have ever tasted. I shared the tasting platter which had the welcome surpirse of warm prawns with marie rose sauce. The warmth of the prawns was a very welcome surprise and I could eat these forever. Crab claws & fish cakes were also included all very enjoyable. For mains I went for the fish stew (which unfortunately had no mussels included as stated on the menu) but was still very enjoyable. Goujons of monkfish and steaks were also ordered both good portions and very welcomed. The scallops were cooked to point which wasnt to my companions tasting. The sides especially the mash & fried potatoes were lovely but the jacket potatoes did not look very appealing. We were informed they were local potatoes. However aside from this I would whole heartedly recommend the little strand and I know I will definitely be back there very soon. What a wonderful hidden treasure in the village of Clogherhead.

We had family dinner here last night, as always, food, service atmosphere was top class. I was torn between fish or beef, Waiter recommended the fillet steak and I am glad he did, it was superb. My husband went for fish and he said it was beautiful. Real proof was eight year old boy cleaning his plate for both mains and dessert. We are looking forward to our next trip. Check it out.

Dont get to visit this place as much as I would like cause I live in Dublin. It is well worth the drive. The best fish restaurant I know. All fresh from the local boats. Have always had excellent meals here and can not wait to return.
