Aurora Bar and Grill, City Centre North

Established in 2006 by local man Tom McKeon. The Aurora boasts really unique features for a pub of its kind and location. Situated on the corner of Eccles Street (Opposite The Mater Private) and close to The Children's Hospital, Temple Street, there is 3 floors to choose from (including a Function Room) in this lovely Victorian building, which steals the effervescent natural light from outside. Formerly 'Larry O'Rourkes' to which James Joyce alludes in Ulysees, there is a real traditional, solid IRISH CEAD MILE FAILTE to this pub "Come for the food and stay for the Craic" is exactly what you'll do at The Aurora, where all your needs can be catered for: A business lunch, quiet tete a tete, early bird or a pint and a bit of craic at the weekend where there's entertainment Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Hol Mondays.

Five stars for the Aurora. As ever, great, efficient friendly service. Food was excellent and my partner is still talking about how good the venison burger was. All in all a great experience.

Was here during the week on a hospital visit. Its ideal when you're in a bit of a hurry with an appointment. They were swinging at lunchtime. And it made the service seem effortless and buzzy. Our waitress was vas bubbly and pleasant and always remembers us.Ive eaten here before several times and always found it excellent. Tuesday was no disapointment. Had Roast Beef and Mammy had the Salmon. Really tasty. I overheard an older gentleman complimenting the owner on his staff and gave a "10" for everything, which he said he didnt give out often!! Its a little pricy but you get what you pay for!!! Cant recommend it highly enough.

This place is below par. It looks fancy from outside, but inside it is nothing remarkable. The food wasn't awful, but it was not worth the price it goes for and as for the service it was atrocious. The waiter was moody, gave us wine instead of the soft drink we ordered and couldn't seem to get rid of us quick enough; not that other customers were queuing at the door. Waste of time and money.

Response:
Dear Claire K22. I wish to apologise on behalf of us all here at The Aurora, and we sincerely regret that you did not enjoy your experience. I would be very grateful if you could revert to me and I will discuss further with you, in person, your grievance. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Yours truly Tom
