This is a fantastic place, a real smile on your face when you think of it place. Do not go here for breakfast kind of hungry as it will be a waste of your money! The portions and large and the quality of the food high. I love the fact that you can see into the kitchen & watch one of the owners cooking away. This for my nieces is their biggest treat of a weekend stay at our place, a visit to the Wild Onion. Just a few words of warnings, do not enter with buggies or children who are too young to order as the place is small & the manager is honest & forthcoming with their opinions. However I believe this all adds to the Wild Onion's charm & eccentricity. I have sampled every breakfast at this stage & love the hash browns, french toasts & real maple syrup & great coffee in particular. You are always greeted as a long long friend even when you have not been in for ages. Combine this visit with a Saturday morning visit to the Milk Market but be there at 9.00 am when it opens.

Small venue always seems to be full which makes it difficult to obtain a table to dine at. The omellettes however are worth the wait. My favourite being the veg out. The coffee is excellent and waiters ensure your cup is always full. The american sausage and hash browns are also good. The atmoshere is cosy and provides a unique breakfast experience.

This place has a cult following. Go around midday otherwise you won't be able to eat all the food they put in front of you. On a Saturday it is advisable to ring about an hour ahead or you might be queuing for up to an hour. Their omelette with hash browns(homemade) not the nonsense you get in some places and sausage burger thing is the best. Great atmosphere and you'll see the same faces each time you go. It has a deservedly loyal following. One of Limerick's hidden treats. Go!!!

EXCELLENT....!! Cannot recommend this place enough. Well worth the wait if you're passing by but would recommend ringing ahead for a seat in this tiny gem. Big portions of good American food with maple syrup and French toast as sides. Excellent coffee served by very friendly staff and of course the famous co-owner Ruth who`s fantastic sense of humour will never fail to raise a smile. Highly recommend a visit.

Three words: BEST. BREAKFAST. EVER. This is a little out of the way place run by a couple from Chicago (the whole place is kitted out with memorabilia from the Windy City, including a letter of endorsement from former mayor Richard Daly). Go in for breakfast. If there are no tables, wait. Or add your name (or the nickname Ruth, the wickedly funny co-owner will give you) to the list and come back when you're told. Brekkie is big and American style: pancakes, syrup, sausage and hash brown potatoes. There's plenty of normal ones for the less adventurous, but this is what makes the place legendary. Order plenty of coffee and use plenty of Tabasco sauce. Get a bag of coffee and some peanut butter cookies to go on your way out. You won't need lunch that day.
