I was in Limerick Thursday and just about had time to grab lunch before the long drive back to Dublin. As im not to familiar with Limerick I probably would have settled for a quick takeaway bag of chips or sambo, Luckily I was with a foodie colleague and he suggested Sage Cafe the place was packed but the staff were quick to let us know they will seat us in 5 min, sure enough they did, I ordered the chicken and mashed potatoes that I read from the menu while waiting, the food was excellent, so much so I dont know what foodie even ordered I was so impressed with my own,, Its a pity I was pushed for time but its noted for my next visit. Its great value too, a proper lunch for a reasonable price, lots to choose from on the menu also.

Truly excellent, food, service, quality could not fault a thing. This place is one of the best cafes in town. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great menu. There's always something yummy to choose! They also do an especially nice carrot cake!

Great little place for lunch dates in Limerick, always busy and bustling. Went here twice this week, had the same meal both times, boring on my part but testament to the food. It was the chicken breast, spiced and served with cream mashed potatoes and balsamic dressing along with caramelised onions that are to die for. It is perfect hearty fair for the current weather. Cosy, homely and honest food but with the distinction of a classy presentation and imaginative tastes. Rustic cooking at it supream best, perfect for lunching ladies and starved solos alike. Not a restaraunt for late dinner or elegant gastronomics but a real treat for daytime dining. Service is also efficent even with the crowds, staff are friendly. Atmosphere is a bit rushed but nothing, and maybe the setting lacks character but otherwise one of my Limerick favourites.

Absolutly packed at lunch times, had chirizo and pea risotto, lovely, piping hot, nice size portion for lunch when ordered as a starter size. Perhaps a bit expensive compared others in locality.

Service was quick and efficient. The food was very quick getting to us. There is an older crowd here. Not many young people eating here. The portions could have been a little bigger but the food was very nice. I had a Chick Pea and Kidney Bean curry, and it was lovely. The toilet was out of order which was inconvenient. It was quite good but maybe a little expensive for what we got.

spotted this in the Bridgestone guide so when i had to travel down to Limerick with work, I decided to try it. Varied menu with staples like caesar salad but also more unusual restaurant fare like chickpea balti. I had the haddock fishcakes with a poached egg which were absolutely delicous. The cappocino was excelent too. Service was a little slow but it was busy.

Visited Sage Cafe for lunch with my wife and family. We were lured in by the external appeal. Food looked lovely laid out on the counter - lovely breads and cakes. Waiter came to us straight away and took our order. My wife had soup and really enjoyed it. My son asked for a chicken sandwich unfortunately the chicken was marinated in lemon and herbs and was a bit sophisticated for a nine year old palate - so he did not eat it all. Would have been nice if this was explained to us before hand. Chips were nice. Service went rapidly down hill. Unfortunately day we visited, toilets were out of order - another inconvenience. When eventually managed to get a waitress's attention - we had to talk quickly to get our order in , she started to move away while we were still ordering and did not seem bothered about clearing our busy table. Quite expensive but food was nice. Would not go out of my way to visit again.

I was a regular visitor to the Sage Cafe but my most recent visit really disappointed. Overpriced, ok food and ok service. Had the soup which at €5.50 is pricy enough, came with 1 slice of bread and when i asked for another i was charged €1.00. Husband had the chicken dish, asked for portion of chips which were charged at €3.95 in addition to the €11.95 for the chicken. Total bill including one tea and one coffee came to 27.30. Way too overpriced for lunch, wont be eating at Sage again.

Sage is fanatastic, there is thought gone into the menu, the food is fresh and the flavours are so well balanced in every dish. Any time I've been there the staff have been excellent. The only downside is you often have to wait for a table it's so good. I'm highly amused that a person would send back a cappuccino for being too HOT - twice!! Come on!

Overpriced. I was very disappointed with my visit to The Sage Cafe. It had been recommended to me but it seems just like it's the trendy spot. I found it to be very average and overpriced. A girl with no English served me who just nodded when I gave my order. I had to return my cappuccino twice because it was absolutely boiling hot and burned my mouth. I then ordered the open brown fish sandwich which was tasteless. Maryroses got this one badly wrong. I will not be going there again.

Great restaurant , professional yet down to earth staff even when jammed packed, the breads here are fantastic , the dishes are all homemade using fresh produce which is a breath of fresh air by limerick standards ,every other place seems to buying so much ready made stuff in these days ,it feels like you are paying money for something you could just buy in Dunne's stores, This restaurant should not be mistaken for the white sage in adare which is awful. I would certainly recommend this cafe, it is a shame they don't open in the evenings compared to other restaurants in the city they are by far the best!

Very good cafe. Great coffee. Usually only have breakfast here on a Saturday morning but have tried it for lunch twice. Only problem with going there for lunch is there is always a queue and eveyone in there seems to be a lady who lunches i.e. takes a full two hours over lunch. If you are going for breakfast make sure you ask for their homemade brown loaf with your brekkie. Accept nothing less. Really excellent but to buy a loaf from the deli counter is €4.95 as far as i can remember - so make sure to eat plenty with your breakfast.

I sent back the tempura prawns because the prawns had not been prepped correctly and when I was there recently the lady in the table next to me sent them for the same reason. Generally, the food is quite good. Unfortunately Limerick city has very little else by way of competition with the Sage Cafe. Always lively and busy.

The Sage Cafe has got to be the best cafe in Limerick right now. It has a cosy feel, and lovely decor. The staff are very friendly, and the food is gorgeous! The salads and bread are always so very fresh. Yum!
