I was here in December with my work Xmas party and loved it so I booked it for Friday 11/02 for me and my partner. The food was stunning, service excellent and the value was fantastic at €72 for 2 starters,2 mains, 2 desserts, tea coffee and a coke. It is a small restaurant so your guaranteed good atmosphere and they had a complimentary candy whorl for each customer in honour of Valentines weekend, which was a lovely touch!

Loved the food here, couldn't fault it at all. It's a very pretty restaurant. Would be lovely for a romantic meal for 2. Will definately recommend it to friends and will be back in the future.

we were attending a 21 birthday next door and decided to slip in for something to eat. We booked our table and told our family we'd be back after we'd eaten . The family thought this was a great idea so we joined us and we ended up with 6 at the table. We were all accomodated with grace, moved to a bigger table as soon as it came available and served a superb meal. Several at the table had special dietary requirements (diabetic, wheat intolerant, fussy!) but we were all able to order from the menu without alteration. The variety was great, Cod with olive tapenade, steak, venison, everyone enjoyed their meal, excellant value for money and I'd heartly recommend it again.

The Finest dining to be had in Limerick We went here for dinner on Tuesday night and had a fanastic meal as ever. This is my favourite restaurant in Limerick and it never disappoints. The food is amazing. The service is efficient and the table was ours for the evening. All courses are very generous and so tasty. Keep it up!!

I dined here with six friends just before Christmas. It was my 1st visit to this restaurant and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The service, ambience, and most importantly food were all superb. We all ordered different choices from the menu and tasted each others and everything was gorgeous. I had the smoked salmon and crabmeat starter, both of which were in abundance and beautifully fresh. The main course of pork belly was also excellently executed with a generous addition of 3 large king prawns in batter. We also received plenty of vegetables and potatoes, in fact the portions here are so big that these were hardly touched. As mentioned on previous reviews the lemon posset is delicious and a nice light option at the end of such a heavy meal, I did also try the sticky toffee pudding though and if you have a sweet tooth this shouldn't be missed!! We all received a complimentary glass of bubbly on arrival which was a lovely touch, however maybe this was just something they were doing during Christmas week. Breads were asked for by one of the party and 2 minutes later two huge baskets of assorted warm breads appeared, much appreciated and no extra charge! The chef coming down to the table is a lovely touch, and the waiting staff were excellent throughout the meal. This restaurant is a real gem, and somewhere I certainly look forward to returning to in the future

After reading such great reviews on the french bistro i must say that i was somewhat disappointed with our night out there. There was 6 of us who went there for an early bird. The service was excellent. We were the only people there for over an hour. I found the food very disappointing. I had the cesar salad for starters. It was just a bowl of lettus... no parmason cheese to be found anywhere. My main course was the the vegetarian tartlet. It was dry on top and the pastry greasy. I would not be in a hurry back to there again.

Fantastic Food Atmosphere and Service. haven't been for a bit and found the new menu to offer a fab range of choices. The Braised beef cheek just melts in your mouth as for the Prawn Risotto is out of this world as always. The guinea fowl was juicy and succlent and the Rib eye steak was cooked to perfection. We had dinner for two (4 courses)plus a bottle of wine for around €90 euros.Standards were as high as ever has to be the best in limerick

Ambience here is perfect for a group booking. The restaurant is small and intimate, great for a work christmas party i would think. I found the food to be excellent. For starters I chose the ceasar salad- it was nice and light not too much dressing. Mains:organic salmon - just the right size portion and finished with the rasberry sorbet-delicious. The area is lovely too - a short walk from the city and on the banks of the river with a great pub nextdoor. Three course meal for 40euro -which this is not great value gievn the deals available in limerick at the moment it does offer a more exclusive feel and high standard of food.

We ate in the River Bistro on Friday night. It is located just beside the Locke Bar. The restaurant seats about 35 people – web: www.theriverbistro.ie The menu is a fixed 4 course for €35 including a glass of house wine – I believe that this is a special offer menu so I am not sure how long it will be available. There is a different Saturday menu which includes some specials. The wine menu starts at about €22 and goes up to around €40. We chose a bottle of Sancerre which was around the €38 mark. To Start: Grilled Portabello Mushroom With Rabbit Sausage, Organic Salad Leaves And Mustard Oil – this could have had more flavour but was an interesting and different starter St Tolla Goats Cheese Spring Rolls With Marinated Beansprouts And Sweet Pepper Relish – devine! Putting Goats cheese into Spring roll pastry is a nice change and makes for a light starter. The sweet pepper relish was Yum! The starters were accompanied by a selection of fresh breads. Mains: Piri Piri Spiced Breast Of Chicken With Couscous, Fresh Tomato Salsa, Corn Pancakes And Avocado Puree – beautifully seasoned chicken, not too hot, served with a few interesting extras. Chargrilled Rib Of Beef With Chunky Chips, Onion Ring And Creamy Pepper Sauce – very large steak, fat chips and giant onion rings. The pepper sauce is quite heavy due to the addition of brandy – but beautifully complements the steak which was cooked to perfection. The mains were accompanied by steamed veg and roast baby potatoes. Dessert: Rhubarb And Apple Crumble With Vanilla Ice Cream – not good for the waistline but a lovely comforting dessert for a wet evening Lemon Posset With Hazelnut Shortbread And Raspberry Sorbet – if you like a fruity dessert this is one for you To finish we had two lovely Bailey’s coffees. A nice touch at the end of the night was the chef coming out to the tables to check if people enjoyed their meal. Some may think this old fashioned but I think it is a good thing. I am looking forward to going back.

Have to admit having read previous review that I was hesitant in going here - however it was apparent that the reviewer must have been just out to complain - the restaurant was top notch. Had the Black Pudding as a starter and my wife had the risotto - both very nice. Main had Piri Piri Chicken as another previous review had suggested and I was not disappointed. Finished it all off with a delicious chocolate bread and butter pudding. It really is a little gem - small and intimate - I would happily choose every item on the menu. Staff were very attentive, not in your face (which I hate). Head Chef and Maitre d both visited our table also to ensure everything was perfect for us - a very nice touch. 3 words - I'll be back!!!

Mediocre at best. One of those menus where nothing is related - 3 Italian inspired starters, no related mains, one dish classically French inspired the next with Thai origin. Goat's cheese stuffed fillo pastry is not a spring roll. Duck confit was over brined and much too salty. Desserts were very dissappointing - bread and butter pudding dry and rubbery (I suspect both this and the Stick Toffee Pudding had spent time in the microwave) Out of our table the only dessert that was acceptable was the Adare Farm Ice Cream - but it's near on impossible to mess up plating some ice cream. Service was better than the food, coffee was served without sugar or spoons but they were brought quickly when this was pointed out. The wine list was badly written (although we were happy with our choice) seemed to be a cut and paste job from the catalog with varietals only named on occasion. I will not return to this restaurant.

I was treated to a meal here for my birthday. I had the prawn risotto which went down very well. Sadly, my main course was too overpowering. I think a choice should be made between the pork belly and the fillet of pork as combining the two with black pudding calls for someone with a gargantuan appetite. Nevertheless the food was perfectly cooked, the service also good and the chef visited our table after the meal to inquire if everything was to our satisfaction.
