I have had the displeasure of eating in this dump on more than one occasion, all but the first not of my own choice. I always judge an establishment on the basics first, it is safe to say that cream soups are about as basic a preparation as a place can engage in. The first time I went here the soup was made form a packet, the next time it was clearly made from the leftover, over cooked veg from the previous days' carvery with some Chicken Paste from a tub in it. The last time there, my wife got Soup which I tasted, it had lumps of squidgy raw flour floating in it which was evidence that a floury roux had been dumped in after the veg had been blended in order to thicken it up. It could safely be infered that any "Chef" worth his whites would not be this careless in his preparation of the basics and this is evident in both the Carvery and Bar food fare. I have had watery Mash, under seasoned Mash or overly dry Mash which is a standard of sorts. I have had dry Roast Beef with a packet gravy on top, Bland Lamb Shanks and what are clearly bought in Chips. As for the Bar food menu I had a wrap that while swimming in grease was rock hard at the bottom and quite inedible served again with bought in Chips. Why do only a handful of establishments make their own Chips? The Bar itself is large and spacious with a lot of high seating and tables which is great for the large drinking trade they do in the evening but very uncomfortable for eating and impossible for those with buggies, the only low tables are situated on a raised area which is small and another hindrence to ladies with children. This place is beat avoided if you like nice food and eating in comfort.

Response:
I ate here too on a couple of occasions it can be hit and miss but never like limdiner has expierienced. I would it give it the benefit of doubt on that occasion, could be change of chef or maybe even absense of chef..!
