I have been meaning to write a review of this restaurant since we visited last december. as first time visitors to Limerick we used tripadvisor to find restaurant and were not disappointed by this little gem. I especially remember the cod and chick pea and chorizo dish as i have tried to recreate this at home and have always fallen short. Big thumbs up from me.

Been here years ago and it was superb, now it's extremely disappointing. Chicken wings were horrible, not a great taste. Steak for main course was ok but the fish not great. Side portions were way over priced. Very cramped upstairs, was on top of other couples. For the price this was not a wonderful meal. Wouldn't be recommending it.

I went to Freddy's on Valentines with my husband, not sure if its the night that didn't justify their quality, but we certainly were bit disappointed with the food compared to our expectation after reading the reviews. My husband had chicken wing for starter, the wing was too soft like been cooked too long. I had fish cake which was OK. Both main course wasn't bad though. Maybe our expectation was too high, maybe it wasn't a right night to do, but our overall experience wasn't impressed, I say, we'll not rush to give another try in a while.

I found Freddy’s Bistro to be a lovely quaint restaurant with good food. Not all my friends agreed though. I went with a group of friends for a birthday dinner, and we ordered from the set 2-course menu for €20. While not all of us were very impressed, I was lucky that everything I had was great. I ordered a starter of mushroom risotto and a main of mild fish curry, which were both very good. The fish doesn’t seem to be on the menu anymore so I can’t say exactly what kind of fish it was. It was really good though. Two friends had 2 other kinds of fish and they weren’t as impressed. They found theirs to be either uninspiring or dry. One friend had the carbonara and really liked it. The birthday girl also got the sticky toffee pudding, which I loved. I would go back for that pudding alone.

Myself and my girlfriend visited Freddys one evening after work. We booked for 7 and were seated upstairs. The building is lovely very well finished with a nice style. The atmosphere was nice however there was one large party there and another arrived when we were havin our main, by the end the noise was far above a comfortable level. The service was very good with nice friendly staff. The food was the best part of the experience we shared stuffed mushrooms for starter which were beautiful leaving me to wish we hadnt shared. I then had steak for my main course which I have to say was the nicest steak I have had in recent memory. The set course menu is reasonable it includes two courses however not having tea/coffee included is always disappointing. I will most definitely go back to Freddys again.

Freddy's Bistro is a fantastic place to eat in Limerick city. Their early bird menu is terrific value, and there is plenty of choice on it too. Dined there as part of a group of 4 recently. Each of us enjoyed our meals (starters ranged from risotto, to stuffed mushrooms and buffalo wings). Mains also impressed, particularly the cod baked in a banana leaf, and the crab linguine dish. Yum! The only thing I could fault were the young and uninterested waitresses that actually marred our experience. We were served, throughout our meal, by 2 or 3, so this remark is not a slight against any one person. Dishes were thrown down in front of us, or into my hands to place on the table myself (which is something I hate!!!). My friends and I all agreed that the food was tremendous, and we had a wonderful dining experience. However, the uninterested, and at times, rude attitude of the front of house staff did take the gloss off an otherwise wonderful experience. I would award a "hats off" to Freddys had it not been for this. For food and wine, Freddys is a MUST!

Probably one of the better restaurants in limerick city .Food always good , service excellent .Only one issue , and that is the time you have to wait for a table despite reservations .And latly prices getting a little bit high for this type of restaurant .Would recommend though .

ate her eon saturday night early bird. The place was busy though and had a good atmosphere - we were upstairs small and cosy nice chilled music. I found the staff attentive and friendly. The manager was involved and created a buzz-nice to see someone passionate about their work. I had a risotto starter- rich and creamy full of flavour - I know it was a starter but a larger portion would have been lovely - it was so tasty. I had pan fried chicken - done beautifully and no prblem getting extra pepper sauce. also the sides were reasonably priced at 1.20 Had a sticky toffe pudding for dessert - no faults in it but certainly the portion was very small. I do dislike a stingy dessert- a nice big serving of pudding doesn't cost much more and would have swung the value meter higher for me.Also I say to all restaurants doing a fixed price menu ,for goodness sake throw in a tea or coffee : ) But yes I would go back and yes I would recommend it for a nice sit down tasty food and very good service.,

First time in this Limerick institution and will definitely return. Had the 3 course early bird which was great value. Starter of risotto was yum and main course cod baked in vine leaf was excellent. Couldn't fault a thing, service was warm and attentive, will be back!

Have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Last time I was there was not the best but we had a great meal on Satuday night. All of our table went with the Fillet of Beef Medallions and there was not a morcel left on the plates - really tender. staff were very friendly and attentive. Only criticism would be that it is a little overpriced for what you get, especially in the current climate. Will definately go back though.

Very nice atmosphere and excellent service. Most importantly however the food is always superb whether its the steak or the fish. Not the cheapest restaurant in Limerick but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. Highly recommended and one place I keep returning to.

Can't recommend this restaurent highly enough for great food, in a relaxed atmosphere at very reasonable prices. Try the fish cakes followed by their award winning seabass..delicious. And their early bird menu is very reasonably priced.

We visited recently for a family occassion, Food was absolutely delicious, tasty and fresh.... Lots of Choice on the early evening menu....at 29.95 was brillant value!! One of the family is coeliac and cannot have any flour....they prepared all her dishes to order. I opted for fresh mussels...and the Medallions of Fillet was so flavoursome, and my favorite dessert...sticky toffee pudding mmm.. The early bird menu has so much choice....my young brothers loved the gourment burger.... we loved it..... Staff are professional and friendly... Freddy's Rock.... and it is so reasonable..

Freddys is a consistently good restaurant where you are guaranteed a lovely meal, nice wine with a charming atmosphere. The mushroom risotto is to die for - Im addicted to it and have to have it every time I visit - the caesar salad, and mushrooms and beef salad for starters I would recomend - For mains - the jamaican jerk really is a surprise both in how its served and your expectation - it is BEAUTIFUL and def soemthing to try! The steak is always delish and the sticky toffee pudidng and the choc / nutty pancake is gorgeous - Freddys is a total winner. However it is a fraction pricey - which is the only thing that stops me going there once a week!.... esp with the recession! Even the early bird is expensive for an early birdwhen you want soemthing inexpensive but for an occasion - Freddy's will not disapoint.

Love the food in Freddy's, well worth the price of it which is a little over average. Lovely little quaint restaurant hidden away. Go here about once a year for a treat.

went here on night out with workmates:food lovely but very pricy... one of the more up market restaurants in limerick... also the location isn't the best as its tucked away in a side street... however, this can be a good thing if you would prefer to shy away from the main street

Ate here last week.. excellant food and fast service. Very courteous and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. A little out of the way location wise, would recommend a seat upstairs as downstairs can be a little cramped in a group of 4. However will definitely be visiting again soon.

Was there last week with my husband. It was very busy and we had to wait with others in the front near the door. After being seated the menus came but no bread followed. I ordered the duck confit and my better half had the mussels. The bread arrived with the starter which I found strange but both were very nice. The food came out a little too quick for my liking to be honest. For mains I had the seabreem and himself had the peri fillet cooked perfectly. We shared a sticky toffee pudding for desert which was nice. Overall it was a nice experience but we felt hurried as the young waiter came with our bill and left it on the table while having coffee. But a thumbs up for Freddy's all said and done.

Ate there on Thursday night. It is in an isolated part of the city centre down a lane with no other shops or restaurants and takes a little finding. Fresh mussels for starter were very nice but they should have given a second bowl for the shells. The Fillet Steak was the best steak I have eaten. Beautifully tender and melt in the mouth. At €8.95 for the starter, €25.95 for the main and €6.95 for the dessert it is at the upper end of the cost range in Limerick. However it's worth it.
