This was a favourite restaurant of my wife and I until recently. We went there Friday night and we will not be returning. The place was full of staff but most of them they were just hanging around the place talking to each other rather than waiting on the tables. It was an effort to get their attention. My starter was cold and my wife's bruchetta was a soggy mess overdosed in garlic. The main courses were acceptable but not up to their old standard. The desserts were a disgrace. My tiramisu was much too soggy and lacked flavour and liquor. The eaton Mess was a disgrace and was made with tinned strawberries. We deeply regret that we ate there on what was supposed to be a nice night out. I miss the old staff who would always make you feel welcome and happy that you ate there.

Always loved this restaurant as a treat, but was sad to see they are now Thai/Italian which is just strange. The decor isn't as nice and s dominated by a graphic design blackboard with typo's!They messed with my favourite dish,Massaman chicken and made it spicier and not as nice. They also stopped doing Coconut Rice.Due to all this,I would not be inclined to go there again, which is a shame as I used to love it.Bring back the real Bambu!

Visited Limerick for the night and was very happy to find this restaurant. I'm a big fan of Thai food having toured around Thailand for a long time and this restaurant does it's best to retain all the qualities of a Thai restaurant - tasty food, great value and friendly staff. 3 generous courses for 16euro, a bucket of 6 beers of many varieties for 20euro and large cocktails for 5.50! What would have put me off going in at first was the inclusion of Italian food in the menu - not a good mix? However I sampled the minestrone soup for starters and it was very tasty. It is a good idea for someone who is encouraging their friends/parents to come for dinner who wouldn't be brave enough to go for Thai food! Italian is always safe!

We ate a few times in the Bamboo restuarant, it has always been sastification, the taste of the food or the value. However, the last time we were there, we saw the menu has been extended with Italian, it makes me feel that they are loosing their identity as a Thai Restaurant. But surely, it doesn't matter to me as I would only go for their Thai. But one change they made that I don't like is that the rice portion has been halved! We end up order one extra portion of rice to be able to fill our stomach. It is annoying rather than costy, and it doesn make me consider if I would like to go back again.

i have been eating at this restaurant for over two years and it has always been great value with tasty food, however it has recently introduced an italian menu which i find strange for a thai restaurant. tonight i got my usual red curry and it was awful, laced with salt and missing its usual good flavour, my girlfriend got the green curry which was even worse, watery to look at tatsed nothing like a green curry should, the starter portions have also become smaller in size and to cap off my memorable night i was overcharged compared to the prices on the menu. To show how disappointed i was tonight i have never used this website but felt compelled to share how bad i thought tonights food was, I am not a chef but have made thai food numerous times and it is not hard to get a green or red curry right, when i find a nice thai i will be more than happy to recommend it but sadly bambu is not one that i will be telling my freinds about.

Back to Bambu and another good meal. The green chicken curry was good. The four course deal is good value - four courses plus a coke and tip for €20! Merry Christmas!

It you're looking for somewhere cheap to eat. This is the place to go. The portions are very small and I didn't like the food. There wasn't a lot of variety on their lunch menu. I left there hungry and dissatisfied. The place was nice and the service was good.

The resturant over all was fine the tables are very close together and we could hear in detail the conversation at the next table which put us off chatting. We both ordered the Fish Cakes for starters. They were rubbery, greasy and fairly terrible. The sauce that came with them was nice. We ordered a sweet & sour and a massaman curry for the main. The curry was nice and the sweet and sour was fantastic. The noodles were the best we ever had. The cosmopolitan was very plain but a great price at €5.50 with loads of alcohol. I would go back but would not be in any immediate rush and I would certainly not order the fish cakes.

have been here countless times and always have a great meal, had early bird of dim sum, thai green curry and Eton mess for dessert, every dish was beautiful, the curry the right side of spicyness, the meal was piping hot and presented beautifully. The staff are very accodating and can expain every dish to a novice, a really nice dining experience. a great price too for an early bird.

Had a really nice experience in Bambu with my boyfriend for his Birthday. Nicest spare ribs I have tasted and the Thai Chicken Curry is the best in town!! Staff friendly and welcoming and in all a very nice little place to chill out.

We went here on a girlie night out, it was the only place that we could get without a reservation on a Saturday night and it was exceptional... It was great value for money I actually thought they had given us the takeaway menu by accident! Food quality, portions, service everything really was top notch. I will be returning.. :)

We had the Tea-time special menu at a cost of €13.95 each. Incredible value for money. The chicken satay starter was delicious and the main courses of a green curry and a massaman curry we excellent. Servie was quick and very pleasant. I would definitely eat here again.

What can I say? Possibly my new favourite restaurant! Here is all you need to know: I am 100% convinced the Chef is Thai (Having spent a few months in Thailand and having done a cookery course there, believe me i can tell!). Try the massaman curry - it's particularly good with the plain rice!

Best value in Limerick. I went last week and had a 3 course meal for 13.95. Chicken satay skewers were very tasty. I would also recommend the thai red curry, light fresh taste. The selection of deserts was surprisingly varied.

Prices were very reasonably and the food was also quite nice. Had a more chinese feel to the menu as opposed to thai! Nice central location but nearby parking could be problomatic during the day.

My boyfriend and I went for dinner in Bambu while we were staying in Limerick. Food was amazing. Portions were huge for the price - Which was quite cheap and cheerful! We were pleasantly suprised. It was quiet and relaxed - the waitresses were very friendly and helpful. Fantastic restaurant. Will definitly eat there again when we visit Limerick! Would recommend to anyone!

I have visited here a good few times and have always found the food delicious. I am not a big fan of Thai, but the Massaman curry is to die for - so creamy and fragrant. We have also had take out from here and the quality is just as good as dining out here. Their prawn crackers are gorgeous - quite strong in flavour and the texture is completely different to others i have tried. A very good restaurant to visit, with good quality and flavoursome food, at the right price.

Have been here on numerous ocassions whilst visiting Limerick. Great place to meet and catch up with friends. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere in the center of the city. Food is absolutely fantastic. I've tried so many different dishes but favourite has to be their chilli beef.... to die for! Everything is such good value and nothing is ever too much for the staff. Great with big groups also and very welcoming, not often you find a place that will welcome a group of 16 without any prior booking and still arrive with all the food together. Huge thumbs up!

Myself and my boyfriend went for an early bird here. I had been for lunch before and thought it was quite nice. However, there mmust be a new chef working here as both our meals were full of MSG and did not taste fresh. We got Massaman chicken and the thai green curry. I barley touched mine and was informed I still had to pay full price. We will not be going back.

I love this place and my favourites are; their Chicken Satay is the best, the peanut sauce has a texture, richness and spicyness that I've not found anywhere else in Ireland and for main course their Massaman Chicken is just heavenly, it the perfect balance of flavours with the sweetness of coconut and to top all that there is potatoes in it too... Mmmmmm! I've not tried the Massaman Beef, beacuse it just couldn't be better than the chicken :-)

i ate at bambu with 2 friends. we went early in the evening for a quiet girlie catch up. the food was lovely and the staff friendly and efficient. because of the early time we ate, the restaurant was almost empty and therefore lacking in atmosphere but i would not let this put me off visiting bambu again.

Had lunch here recently. The food was top notch, had to chilli duck which was very tasty. The duck was slightly fatty (but I've had much much worse) but the accompanying veg and sauce were delicious. It being lunch time I can't really comment on the atmosphere but it is a well laid out room and I would definitely like to try the evening menu. One downside is that the lunch menu is quite small (5 selections) so it might be worth checking it out before you go to make there is something there to please you.

We were visiting friends in Limerick at the weekend and really fancied something hot and spicy to eat so they suggested The bambu, well what a treat, we didn't have starters as we were not that hungry, but the main courses were huge and piping hot. Would certainly recommend the chilli fish. The service was quick and the staff very friendly and they have a good selection of wine as well. We can't wait to visit our friends in Limerick again
