This is a top notch restuarant. We went here St. Patricks Day as a colleague recommended it. Usually it doesnt open at lunch time but because it was St. Patricks Day, they were open for lunch with a special value menu which was faultless. I had mussels for starter then a steak sandwich and ice cream. It was so tasty and the waiter was so helpful, friendly and nice. My mam had goats cheese starter, sausages and mash as main and ice cream as dessert. 10/10 my mother said this restaurant was and she cant wait till she is down in Limerick again to go here. I would also highly recommend it

I was a huge fan of this restaurant before it relocated and ate there everytime I visited Limerick, about once a month. I thought they had gone out of business but was thrilled to find it's new location and couldn't wait to go there this evening. Unfortunately I left there very disappointed realising that I was being charged more for less food than before, so it looks to me like the customer is paying more for the new premises. No bread was given, and I really missed the seafood platter which, to me, was the best plate of food you could get in Limerick. Please bring it back on the menu! The menu is now pre-printed and laminated which means it will never change - so what, you may say but it does not entice me back. Nothing wrong with the decor etc. but it has lost it's "unique" identity, value for money and flexibiity regarding menu choices. I'll wait a while before I give it another shot.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in Limerick. We go to Azur for special occassions, birthdays and Christmas. The food is always fantastic, the service is great and the atmosphere is always very good. The fish dishes are the best in town and I have never been disappointed with a meal in this restaurant. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal at great venue and also good value.

The food was fantastic - i had scallops for starter so yummy and steak for main was delicious ... i also highly recommend the cocktails found my new fav - Kens Bellini - delicious!! will definitely be going back again but maybe with a group as it's a tad bit too noisy for a romantic dinner :(

We went to Azur for a casual dinner this evening, I picked based on the reviews of this site, I have to say they deserve the good review. Both of us were very happy with all our courses, the starter, main and dessert. I loved the salmon I ordered, it was cooked perfect and super tasty. The set menu has plenty to choose from too. We'll go back again.

I've eaten in Azur about 5 different times, and keep going back. It's exceptional value for money, with top quality food and reasonable prices. Over the course of all my visits, I've eaten there with 6 different people, and we've all found every aspect of our visits flawless. On my most recent visit, I went with my girlfriend and another couple (one of whom was a chef). We each had a different starter, and we each found ours to be excellent. I had a chicken and chorizo salad with mustard dressing, and it was divine. My dining partners had a rissotto, soup, and bruscetta...each was exceptional. For mains, two of us had the steak (I get it everytime!), one had a trio of fish dish, and the last had another fish dish (I can't remember what exactly it was). The steak (medium) was perfect. I must call out at this point that the nicest steak I've ever had was at Azur on a previous visit. All the other mains courses were very well received as well, as were the desserts; two of us had the strawberry crepes with chocolate sauce, one had a trio of ice cream, and I can't recall what the last was. Needless to say though that everyone was very happy. I can't recommend Azur highly enough. Go there and fall in love with the place!

We went here for a girly catch up a couple of weeks ago. Overall it was a pleasant experience but I definitely think there are areas where they fall down. Their €21.95 early bird menu lacks variety, the dishes on it are nice but they are definitely the lower end of their menu which is fair enough in one sense but other restaurants are offering much better quality and variety for the same price. The food itself was nice but, perhaps because of the limited selection, not very exciting. I had the chicken and chorizo salad and the spicy salmon. Again, both very tasty but not something to rave about. The atmosphere is lovelym, really warm and cozy whether you're a group of 4 or 10. The staff were very polite and pleasant but not overly warm or helpful at the same time. I think it's the perfect place for a group or an early bird but if I was looking for something special I might give this place a miss.

Went here last Friday for a work night out, there was 8 in the party, so not too big and was very impressed with thier new location and premises. Atmosphere was nice, it was such a terrible evening though felt it could have been a little warmy, help create a more cosy atmosphere. I was enttrawled by the menu the range on the €30 set was impressive and very good value. However it was easy to see why none of us opted for the €22.50, felt it let things down a little, choice for a fish lover was very restricted..I ordered the kingprawn for starter..it had great flavous, would just have preferred it to be a little warmer. The main course was an amazing duo of cod and scallops, divine..just could have done with more scallops and less cooking on the cod..but all together it was good. Finally from someone who has worked in the service industry for some time, I was a little unhappy with the service. The waitress forgot completely to take the order of one of our group, and not once did any member come back during dinner or starter to make sure all was okay ?..overall..the meal was lovely, first time so will go back to try maybe in smaller group..

went here again for a special event meal with friends yet again faultless, I know other reviewers seem to have had problems but to be fair if i was in a hurry i wouldn't wait an hour and a half for a meal i would just go, in general i could or would not knock this place and I too eat out every weekend so i guess if you looking for problems you will find them. Keep up the good work Azur....!

Firstly the new restaurant decor is lovely!!! Really beautiful! I have visited azur twice (both were on a Friday night) since it moved premises. Both experiences were equally bad and for the same reasons - Service. I have always loved Azur - previously u were guaranteed a nice meal in a pleasant atmoshpere so when my first experince in the new premises was bad I put it down to teething problems given that they were getting used to a larger and busier restaurant. However I was looking forward to trying it again and was so disappointed. The food was ok. Scallops to start were mediocre followed by steak which was medium to well done when I ordered it rare. However having waited an hour for it I wasn’t going to send it back as I was in a hurry - so the steak was awful. My partner had the prawns which were very nice and the lamb - We have had the lamb before and it was delicious but on this visit it was pretty average. The sticky toffee pudding was nice. Regarding the service - it was horrendous. There seems to be no order in the sections. We had to ask twice for the desert menu. I couldn’t get the waitresses attention to ask how long more I would have to wait for our main courses. When we were finished - our dishes were left on the table while the waitress passed by 3 times. I was speaking to another diner in the loo and she was furious as her party were at the restaurant for 1.5hours and still hadnt received their starters. Other reviewers comment on the friendliness of the staff - On both visits the staff were not particuularly friendly imo - I really felt like I was inconveniencing them by dining in Azur and that they were too busy for me. I eat out in Limerick every weekend so I know what good food is and I know what to expect from waiting staff. Unfortunately I will not be back to or recommend Azur again given that there is other consistantly good restaurants in Limerick

Ate in Azur before we headed out for a night in town with a group of girls. . Was really looking forward to it after getting a look at the menu. The €19.90 menu proved to be excellent value with a wide range of starters, mains and deserts for all tastes. I had the chicken wings, the chicken satay and the belguim waffles. They were good portions and very tasty. We also ordered a white wine €20 a bottle again great value. The atmosphere of the place was great with the staff attentive but not invasive. Lovely lighting and music. Will go there agian in the near future as it had class and style. With us all watching our money this is a place that you can afford to go and they skimp on nothing.

Has moved to much larger premises.Currently doing a €30 menu for Xmas.Emphasis is on seafood but lots of other options. There were two sittings at 6 and 8.30.We opted for earlier sitting.Despite the place being almost full service was fast and friendly and even with the pressure on the kitchen food is first class. Small and interesting wine list and also a bar but no draught beer.
Response:
Thank you for your review! We are still doing our €30 3-course set menu, which is basically our A la Carte Menu! We want to offer you this great value throughout the year, not only for Christmas! And apologies for not having the draught beer on the night, we had some problems with the cooling system.

Went with a big party for a friends birthday. Took over half an hour before we even got to order drinks. Service all night was very slow and the food took ages to come out. They were busy but we were over 3 hours in the resturant before we got desert. The food was amazing so made up for the slow service. Scalops for start were delicous and lamb for main fantastic. would recomend for the food but hopefully next time service will be a bit better

We hadn't been to the new location which is much bigger than their last location previously. It was pretty busy and the atmosphere was good. All the staff were very pleasant. There was a good menu with quite a good choice. The drink and cocktail menu was very impressive. The food was reasonable. The fish was a little over done. Overall very good.

We ate here Thursday Night, this was without doubt the best meal we had in a long time.I had the 10oz steak, cooked to perfection, it almost melted in my mouth, my boyfriend had the seafood platter, there was a great variety and very tasty. The staff were great, friendly and relaxed. Michael Buble was playing in the background which just added to the perfect atmosphere. We will be back again. I Work in a Limerick hotel so I will be recommending this restaurant to all my guests.30 euro for 3 courses was amazing value. By far the best value for money we ever experienced.

I ate here about 2 months ago with a friend for the first time and I am trying to find an excuse to go back! We went early in the evening so were able to avail of an early bird. I had scallops to start which were extremely tasty while my companion had the seafood chowder. Our portions were extremely generous but not so much that we were too full for the second course. For mains I went for lamb which was exquisite while my friend stayed with fish and had seabass. Both dishes were faultless. For three courses, a coffee and 2 glasses of wine we paid about €70 - it was worth more and we would have paid it. There was a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant - it's beautifully decorated and I have to hand it to our waitress, she was on her own and no one in the restaurant was left waiting for food. I've been recommending Azur to everyone since and I cannot wait to return.

My husband and I visited here on Saturday night and I have to say the food and service is is excellent. I had the warm chicken salad to start and my husband had the bruschetta, both were delicious. We both went for seafood dishes as our main courses and we were not disappointed, both or dishes were tasty right down to the veg and pototoes that came with them. There is a great atmosphere here and the staff are friendly and very accomodating It's a little bit on the pricy side and next time we eat there would would opt for the early bird as most of the dishes are available on this menu. Overall, had a very pleasant meal and would most definitely recommend Azur to our friends.

A group of us had dinner here this week and though some of our group had been before I hadn't. The service was impeccable. There was one waiter to the 5 tables there but we did not suffer as a result. Our needs were met before we could ask. The food itself was delicious and there was a huge rnge to choose from with something to cater for everyone. If anything I had trouble choosing what to have everything looked so appetising. The atmosphere was romantic with low lighting and few tables - it was not overcrowded. Not great for a girls night out, but perfect for a meal with your partner or parents.

I went here for a Christmas evening with my work colleagues. There were 9 of us in total. It was late when we got there, around 9pm. We were seated in a quiet corner, even though the restaurant was packed the noise level was very tolerable. The service from the staff was warm, friendly, fast and professional. We had a set menu for around €35 excluding wine. The food was delicious and piping hot at time of serving. Prior to the starter we each were given a square of brown bread with salmon and lemon and the between starter and main course were given a light, refreshing, lemon sorbet. It was well after midnight by the time we left. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a meal.

I just love this place and is now my firm favourite restaurant to have dinner in. The food is always of high standard, great atmosphere and on the many occasions i've been here only once was the service below par. the wine list is uncomplicated and not snobby but always delights. even the prices wont put you out. I will continue to recomend Azur to all I know for both lunch and dinner and cant wait to go again. Great job Ken and team.

On a trip to Limerick last week-end I made a reservation at Azur for dinner for my teenage daughter and myself. A good job we booked as the place was buzzing when we arrived at 8.30pm. We went with the Early Bird Menu which was available all night and was fantastic value. Mussels and steak for both of us - we couldn't finish the steak and had to share a selection of ice cream to finish the meal. Service and food top notch and really impressed with everyone we met in Limerick from hotel staff, taxi-men and waitresses - reminded me of Ireland twenty years ago - everyone going that extra mile. We'll be back to Azur and to Limerick!

Took my Mom here for dinner. Party of 14 included 7 adults, 5 children and two infants. We were seated downstairs in a suitable location for the size of our party, the only thing is it was very dark (one of the lightbulbs was out). The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and accommdating and provided good quality food for the kids. The staff are all very friendly and efficient. Some of the party had selections from the a la carte menu and others from the 'early bird' menu (which is offered as a value menu with no time restriction and excellent choices!) and the overall bill represented great value. Would definately recommend and will be returning in the near future!

first time here and really enjoyed it. we were a group here on saturday night and had the early bird even though we were well past the time of it, they had no problems in giving it to us which was a great start to the night!! the food was fantastic, i went for the seafood chowder which was full of fish rather than the soup you get in some places! and the cajun salmon for main which was served with med veg & citrus & vanilla jus which was top and chocolate panna cotta for dessert, everyone on table seemed to really enjoy theres too, so will def be returning to sample a la carte some night and also they give comp cakes for birthdays etc which is a nice touch. keep up good work.

We had booked the 7 course Seafood tasting menu. It was our first time going to Azur. The food was fabulous. However, the service was disgraceful. The waitress just dumped the food on our table, no smile no "Enjoy your meal", nothing. We decided not coming to this place a 2nd time. Big pity, as the owner really is a fantastic cook.

came by accident, was just walking by and thought why not, was going to have early bird but could not resist the a la carte menu, I had the scallops to start with and they were top notch, my friend had the seafood chowder and he said it was the best he had and it looked great full of fresh fish rather than the crap you get normally. for main course i had the seafood platter which was amazing, the amount of it first and the flavors, again my friend had the seabass special which was cooked to perfection, we both had ginger, citrus & vanilla creme brulee with was just perfect to finish,we the french muscadet with the meal and it went down very well and @ 26 euro was quite good for a bottle like that. will def be returning and a shame i did not know about this place before.

came here last friday for the 7 course seafood tasting night and it was top class it had everything from lobster, prawns, scallops, turbot, halibut etc and all dishes had different flavors and cooked really well only thing was that the main course was prob a little big but can't really complain!! the lady serving us told us that this will be a common thing going on so we will be booking again for the next night. and forgot to mention its only 45 euro for the menu which is pretty good considering its 7 courses and very goog quality. can't wait.

I have eaten here twice, both on staff nights out. The first time, the food was superb- I ordered the goats cheese starter and salmon for mains. The salmon was moist and flakey, cooked to perfection. All of my colleagues agreed that the meal was amazing. I had Monte merlot/shiraz (about 6 glasses!) and this was an excellent accompaniment to the meal. The bread is also delicious, and we were given more on request at no extra charge. The restaurant is laid out beautifully and the lighting is just right- It is romantic, cosy, warm and friendy- the perfect place for friends or a couple. The second time I visited, some of the same collegues were with me and I ordered the same goats cheese starter, but had the steak for mains. The steak was cooked to my liking but not as tender as I expected. I was a little disappointed with the meal and I cant quite put my finger on it- I had been blown away on my first visit, so maybe my expectations were too high! I will need to eat there again to make up my mind about Azur!

I am a regular customer to Azur when I am in the city. I have always enjoyed the food and the menu offers the beat sea food in Limerick. The athmosphere has recently improved with the changes made to the interior.I would reccomend that any visitor try the sea food platter, it is to die for. I have learned from a friend of mine that the best nights are when head chef is on. Now I make the point of asking who the chef is for the night when I make my reservation. I would like to add that all the staff are very friendly. FIVE STARS

A little disappointed the last couple of times we visited here. Absolutely loved it initially but now hubbie won't go back! The food is lovely and the staff are very friendly. BUT, the last time we went we had booked a table in advance and we had 3 courses plus coffee. We were out in approx 75 minutes!! Were being served mains as we were still chewing starters!!! A little disappointing when dinner is our night out and we like the opportunity to chat etc. The time before that we were seated between the til and another table which we were extremely close to. We should have introduced ourselves to them as we were practically sitting together! Very simple issues for them to solve but really took away from our well deserved night out.

I had the special set menu of starter, main and glass of house white for 19euro. Obviously being a cheap set menu the options were fairly limited but I was happy with my bruschetta with olive tapenade followed by wild mushroom tagliatelle. I also had a rhubarb crumble after which I wasnt impressed with, it wasnt very well balanced, but everything else was good. I would go here again, but would probably pay extra to order off the a la carte as neighbouring tables' fish all looked good.

This restaurant is simply fantastic. Every aspect from decor to service is perfect. We arrived without a booking on a saturday night and were seated within five minutes. The food is absolutely second to none in limerick. My steak was cooked perfectly a sordered and the quality of the meat well lets just say i only used a butter knife to eat a sirloin steak. The staff are so friendly and every aspect of my order was seen through perfectly. I will definately return and i would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Ciaran

came here with the family for mothers day and really enjoyed it, they had the regular lunch menu but had a special mothers day one too so we went with that one because it seemed really good value @ 23.50 for a three couse meal which was like an evening menu and even presentation was fantastic for lunch. only thing was there is no kids menu but they gave us good choices for them like chicken goujons etc but kids can also have anything on menu half portion for half price which i thought was good and a bit healtier them the usual you get around.First time here but will be returning as I visit limerick a lot.

I am a regular here and love it here, normally eat mid week so go for early bird menu which is ideal. but have also been here on weekends and normally go a la carte as a treat and it really is a treat, the seafood platter is fantastic.. We arranged a night out for 15 of us as it was my partners birthday so we had to suit everyones budget so the owner/ chef designed us our own set menu to suit our budget so it was great when it came to bill time! as no calculators were needed!! but they also made us a birthday cake comlimentary which was a nice touch. looking forward to my return as always.

This restaurant is really great, I had dinner here on sunday evening and everything was top class i went for all seafood and they have such a large choice of it too which is not common in limerick. the scallops are a must ( the best i have had) also what the others had they really enjoyed it too. and I felt for the quality of food the price was not bad either and no secret side order charges too.. but I also spotted the early bird too which seems really good value and they serve it all night mid week and sundays also if i'm correct. will def be returning here again soon. enjoy..

We went to Azur a few weeks back on a Thursday night to sample their Early Bird. I had the mussels starter and they were beautiful. I hadn't had thai style mussels in a while and they were tasty gorgeous and a great size portion. My girlfriend had the goats cheese starter with red onion jam and that was also lovely. For mains I then had the sirloin steak and it was very good. I asked for medium rare and it came out exactly as requested. It was served with some vegetable crisps (unusual, interesting and tasty) and on a bed of lovely creamy mash. I also got some fried mushrooms on the side and thoroughly enjoyed the steak. No steak knifes are on the premises which is either a very good decision or a very silly one. And low and behold no steak knife was necessary. Very tender. The desserts, which i usually dont bother with, but given we were at a 3 course Early Bird, were also very good. A selection of homemade ice-cream and sorbets was actually homemade and delicious and so was the cheesecake. Considering the price that was being charged for the Early Bird and the lack of a time restriction on ordering same this was a really nice midweek treat and really excellent value considering the quality of the food on offer. A nice strong espresso finished off a great evening. Very highly recommended. Oh, and some new decor upstairs makes it a lovely venue especially close to the bar counter upstairs away from the street.

WAS HERE WITH A GROUP OF 10 AND EVERYTHING FROM START TO FINISH WAS FANTASTIC. THE SEAFOOD HERE IS THE BEST YOU CAN GET AROUND. I EAT OUT QUITE A LOT AND THIS IS UP HERE WITH THE BEST OF THEM. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS VERY BUSY THERE WAS NO DELAYS WITH ANYTHING AND WE EVEN GOT A COMPLIMENTARY SORBET FOR MIDDLE COURSE WHICH WAS A NICE TOUCH. LOOKING FORWARD TO MY RETURN HERE NEXT WEEK

I visited here a while back with a gift voucher I received. I ordered the steak with red wine sauce. It tasted divine and we complemented it. The hostess informed us that their steak is sourced from a butcher just around the corner which I thought was also fantastic. The only thing its a little overpriced and a table of 4 actually walked out before ordering but customers already inside looked like they were enjoying themselves.

Fntatsic place. Just happened to stop in here on the way home from Galway. Had amazingly tasty steak and my Mom had a delicious pasta. The service was excellent too. We shared a Baileys cheescake for dessert and it was the best I have had in ages..Was on the expensive side, but then it was very very good. I will return!! the onlt thing i didn't like was i thought the toilets were not the best...

food score would have been 5 but for bizarre cheesecake we gor for dessert- which was just cream on biscuit base. however overall we both totally enjoyed our savoury dishes.the scallops and the goats cheese starters were fresh and full of flavour. I had oven baked cod 10/10 and the chicken was succculent and the sauce was top notch. my lemon tart desert was a delight but again the cream instead of baileys cheesecake was a real let down.service friendly.

Just have to say I am in love with this place. I am a big seafood eater and find it hard to find a good restaurant that can live up to a good seafood menu like here. I had the scallop starter and the saefood platter, which were so good I wanted to lick the plate after but was worried about the looks I would get. My partner had the chowder and left the bowl glistening white after and the rack of lamb mains which again just magnificent. The service was very good and very easy on the eye, such good looking and helpful girls. The christmas menu looks excellent value for 45 euro with scallops on it I am a def to be back for it more than once over christmas

Had such a wonderful meal here on saturday night, everything from start to finish was fantastic. It was recommended to me and lived up to it. I had the rack of lamb special and it melted in my mouth and my wife had the seafood platter which looked very good and tasted even better ( the bit she gave me!!) If I was to fault something it would be the toilets there are only one of each and on a saturday there can be a wait but did not bother me.I can't wait to return to this restaurant and will be recommending to my friends.

Great as always. Had scallops for starters and the seafood platter for main course and could not fault anything. Also I often come here mid week and have their early bird menu which is great value and they serve it till close on week days which is great so you're not rushing after work to get there before the usual 7pm!! Also the wine menu is very good and they have extended too now..

Went back here again saturday night and was even better than the first time, it was such a fantastic night from wine food & service and they remembered me from my first night which was really impressive and the seafood platter again was fab. We were a table of 4 & we all had seafood from start to finish even tho there were impressive meat dishes too we could not ignore the fish.I have already booked my xmas part here and the menu for it sounds great, can't wait to go back already!

One of my favourite restaurants in Limerick, nice staff, good menu and great food. They have great value in their "Early Bird" menu and a very reasonable A la Carte Menu. I'd have no difficulty recommending this restaurant.

The food was excellent and the seafood platter was just superd, we also got a complimentary sorbet for our middle course which was a raspberry one and it went down a treat. It was my first time there and can't wait to go back again.

My first visit here was today for lunch unfortunately we waited 25 mins after ordering to complain about wait (we had only ordered paninis!) and it was another 10 mins before we were served. The staff were friendly but reamined in upstairs section, so they did not notice our wait and I had to go upstairs to complain. The excuse was a new chef which was not at all professional excuse. Im not going to write it off I will try it out for dinner but Im expecting better!

Fine and elegant atmosphere, good food (I had all-fish dinner)with a professional and personal touch, and a small but excellent selection of Italian wines that I love overall. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back to taste the meat menu with a good bottle of Barolo. The bill was absolutely fair for the enjoying and relaxing time we had.

Have to agree with the review above - early bird really is excellent value. And seats upstairs are a must. My partner had lamb, which was perfectly cooked and I had roast stuffed chicken - beautifully cooked & succulent. We both went for the melt in the middle chocolate pudding for dessert - incredible rich chocolate flavour. My only negative comment about the dessert was it was far too small. We will go again

The early bird menu here is incredible value! good selection of dishes, I have never tasted anything as good as the Chocolate Tarte I had for dessert! One tip though, request to be seated upstairs, much nicer, brighter & more ambient than downstairs!
