ely bar & brasserie, City Centre North

Situated on Dublin's waterfront in the bustling IFSC, the Custom House Quay building was the choice for ely's second venue. At ely bar & brasserie our guests can choose from a list of over 400 wines and enjoy wonderful continental cuisine. When our guests walk into our stunning vaulted wine cellars there's a real sense of taking a step back in time. We have restored the vaults and created a relaxed lounging area with two private dining rooms for private functions and wine tastings. In contrast, the impressive glass-walled Atrium Bar upstairs has its own oyster bar, and serves beers, spirits, cocktails and wines while the heated, waterside patio allows for atmospheric dining al fresco. ely bar & brasserie spectacularly showcases what we do best at ely: great wines and beers and smooth food in a relaxed, convivial atmosphere.

I visit Ely regularly for lunch with work colleagues and I always leave a happy customer. It is consistently very very good. Food is great and well priced and the wine selection is very good. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. The selection of mains is really good, yummy fish and chips, a great burger, good sized and well cooked steak it has something for everyone and I thoroughly enjoy it on each visit keep up the good work!

I arranged to meet a friend for lunch here and made a booking the night before. When I arrived I was told my table was downstairs, and was placed beside another couple on a banquette just a little too close for comfort as I prefer to feel that no one can overhear my conversation, and I could not avoid hearing my neighbour's conversation while waiting for my friend. However it must be said that the restaurant seemed quite busy. I was a little disappointed with my goats cheese tart as there was a lot of it and very little accompanying salad. It tasted quite pleasantly of lemon. The loos were of a high standard.

Had received a gift of a rewarding times voucher for dinner for 2 including bottle of wine and cvookbook for this restaurant which I have heard and read so much about. Visited on a Monday night (night of Manchester derby), so there were only about 5/6 people in the restatant, which took somewhat from the atmosphere. Were welcomed and brought to table, and were served by a really knowledgable pleasant and friendly girl. For the first time in many years I actually went to the bother of seeing the manager at the end of the meal to single her out for praise. In particular her knowledge of wine, and her passion for the food and wine on offer was excellent. Despite being on a voucher there were no restrictions - and we had a complete a la carte choice. As we have have very similar tastes, both my wife and I actually chose the food - scallops to start and lam rack for mains. The quality of food was excellent - with some really nice twists such as the "soft" black pudding with the scallop starter. The lamb rack was absolutely gorgeous - and was cooked to perfection. When it came to being offered the dessert menu, before looking we asked if there was Creme Brullee - to be told that although it was not on the dinner menu the waitress said that it had been on the earlier lunch menu, and would check if there were any available. A lovely touch, considering we were on a "voucher". Two really good cappucinos finished a lovely dinner, and a wonderful experience. While talking with the manager, and waiting for my wife to return from the restroom, I was given a mini tour of the downstairs area, where functions, wine tastings etc are held, and it was a lovely atmospheric setting, and imagine it would be a great venue when full. Cannot wait for a return visit - faultless staff, service and food - a wonderful experience !
