We had the early bird here Monday night, 3 courses for €38 if memory serves me right. I had the goats cheese parcels with cranberry to start which gave the impression of shop bought and bland, the cranberry wasn't strong enough to cut through the goats cheese. My friend had the prawns with chilli and had similar opinion. However for main i had the cod in champagne sauce which was delicious and he had the steak both of which brought smiles back to our faces. My dessert of bailey's tiramisu was a triumph. Service was good but there was only us in the place so not too demanding. So after a bumpy start we finished up happy and it's definately worth a look if your passing through.

Maybe i was expaecting too much, looking for a diamond in the rough? There is an early bird menu at 24.95 for two courses, but the evening cost us 73. My partner and i bothe had two drinks (2 glasses house white 5.95, and 2 bottles heineken 4.95) The food was mediocre. The goats cheese samosa was lovely but need way more cranberry, the mozzarella and basil tart was fine but the tapanade it was served with was bland. We both had fish, the cod was delicious but a little overcooked and as we had asked for the sauce on the side, the fish seemed very dry.The Salmon was the same, a lillte bland, but for a decent beure blanc. The veg was grand. I think the main issue with this place, is the table/chair size ratio. The tables are small and the place is crowded with furniture, for all this clutter the place is chilly. can't say i'd be running back anytime soon.

Beautiful little restaurant amidst quaint settings, it was SOME find on the way back from Tralee the other day, when we decided to stop for a meal here. Delighted with their Lamb main course. Big, great value portions too, the seating was slightly tight, but who cares ?

I dined at the Blue Door Restaurant in Adare for the first time. It’s a small place and I thought that we wouldn’t get in, as it was quiet full. But the waitress found us a nice table in the corner even if it was a bit small. The food was excellent, with fresh ingredients and it had a French style to it. I had the Lamb Cutlets and my friend had the salmon, both were very tasty and well presented. We also had some homemade cheesecake and it was delicious. The waitress was very good and made us feel at home. I found the prices to be correct for what we received and I will be definitely going back in the future.

Lovely place. Very intimate. Service is excellent, and food is beautiful. Have eaten there at least 5 times now and the standard has always been upheld. Only gripe I have is, I went with my daughter (age 2) for Sunday lunch and unfortunately there was no highchair or suitable seating for her. So wouldnt return with a small child again.

Now this is what I call a Restaurant. We dined there on Friday last - our first time there but will definately return - easily the highlight of my year in terms of food and service. Small and intimate the variety of food on the menu was excellent. I had the Trio of Goats Cheese to start with following by the Medallions of Chicken in a Strogonoff Sauce with Eastern Rice( I even remember the detail which says a lot). My wife had the Mozarella and Tomoato Tart followed by Fillet Steak - again which were delicious. Service was just right - enough time betweek courses and not in your face but still very attentive - why I haven;t dined here before I will never know. If I was to pick a hole in anything it is a little on the pricey side - but definately a place that is worth a treat.

I love this restaurant. The staff are friendly, professional and well trained which is rare to see these days. The atmosphere is casual yet intimate and very homely. The owner/manager is charming and funny and is a true restauranteur - again hard to find these days. The food is superb especially the fish dishes although I often order the steak too which is always great and perfectly cooked. The attention to detail in the presentation of the food is commendable. I also have a sweet tooth so I'm never disappointed with the dessert offering which are made by the owner's wife from what I understand. This restaurant is something special and is easily the best restaurant in Adare. I would eat here everyday if I could.

Good little restaurant , good friendly professional staff , the food is also good tasty fare , it does not pretend to be something its not just simple good tasting grub , good portion sizes great value for money, I left my wallet behind rather stupidly as I had endulged in on too many brandy's at that stage but they had it waiting when I returned the next day, thanks guys for a great experience.

Great restaurant with very professional staff, but still a casual atmosphere . The food is creative yet simple and exceptionally tasty! I would recommend the seafood here as I am a regular and they have yet to let me down, it great for Saturday nights too . Everything is fresh and homemade. No food out of the packet at The Blue Door Though just good hearty ,honest grub! Oh and the spuds are the best here!

When deciding where to eat Saturday night in Adare we were most impressed with the menu of the Blue Door…which I must say is one of the more original and varied menus I have seen for years. We were looking for comfort food with quality and this is exactly what we got. I wasnt expecting the quirky presentation which was interesting and made us smile when the food arrived. Sometimes this is a worrying sign as the food does not live up to the presentation but not in this case. Every mouthful was heaven. I had smoked salmon with cheese cream and chives on warm blinis – it was surprisingly light and I was pleased that the chives were not overpowering. I had spinach and ricotta cannelloni for the main course – it was unusual as the cannelloni were almost like pancakes...delicious!! The dish was served piping hot and was far tastier as it cooled down. For dessert I had lemon and meringue pie with butterscotch icecream. I didn’t think that the ice cream would compliment the lemon meringue and it didn’t particularly but they were nice separately. The staff were friendly and helpful (and very professional I might add). I would be a regular to this restaurant if I lived anywhere near Adare.
