What a meal. My wife and I decided to try the Little Italy restaurant on a Saturday evening. We have had tasty dinners over the last few years. Great decision. We both ordered the Gamberoni starters, followed by the 10 oz fillet steak and we shared a dessert afterward and coffee. So boring that we had the same food but it was so tasty. The prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. They were presented very nice on the plate and we were pleasantly surprised and enjoy them completely. It was the best Prawn we've had in years. Brown bread was served by the ever attentive waiting staff. Follow that? Well the chef did. My wife ordered a medium fillet steak and I ordered mine medium rare. Both were cooked to perfection - a difficult enough thing to do with such a thick cut. Really lovely and beautifully seared. We had the chef’s medley of vegetables and gratin potatoes to accompany the steak. Steaming hot, delicious and served with a genuine smile. We had ordered a bottle of Shiraz to enjoy with our meal only for the waitress to recommend the Chilean Cabernet. The Cabernet was less expensive but the waitress explained that recent guests to the restaurant had thought the Cabernet was exceptional and that we could change to the Shiraz if we felt the Cabernet was not to our taste. It was very pleasant and was a perfect foil to the steak. Finishing with a nice dessert and a couple of coffee, I am certain we had just had one of the best meals in ages. Unfortunately there were only a handful of diners enjoying their food.

Hats off to Little Italy. We found this place by chance and we were not disappointed. They did a set meal including a bottle of wine for €50. The service was great (genuine Italian for once) and the food matched the service. As Arnie said in the Terminator "\i will be back" - yes we will

I have to say this is one of if not the worst restaurant experience I have ever had, first of all the table we got was dirty - no big drama we use a napkin on the table to clean it no big deal. We ordered starters and mains and the waitress was polite and courteous things are looking up at this stage, we got our starters and my girlfriend got a a few hairs in it she sent it back and didn't want to get anything for starters (not good). we got our mains and the pizza we got were not freshly made but frozen pizza's heated up it was bland and tasteless we also did not get out side order with the mains - fair enough in a busy environment but hey we were the only people in the restaurant when we got our mains and I can see why. So my advise is avoid, avoid, avoid this is not worth it there are plenty of restaurants that are much better value and cleaner. This really ruined our dinner and I would not go back even if it was for free. - yes it was that bad!

I was in 'Little Italy' recently for a birthday party with a group of 13 other teenagers. As soon as the staff saw our age they seemed to make assumptions about how we would behave and our waiter was inattentive and, frankly, rude. The food, although tasty, took 40 minutes to arrive and even then one of the party's order had been taken wrongly. In fairness, Happy Birthday was played for us and the cake that we had brought was kindly cut and served but we were reprimanded for being too loud with our celebrations. As soon as we had finished, our waiter did everything short of telling us to leave when one would have thought that the restaurant would've been glad of 14 people's custom. It's a pity that our experience was not as happy as it could have been as the location is excellent.. Not good enough to entice me to go back though, I'm afraid.

Wonderful little restaurant. I would recommend to anyone. I have eaten here a few times and I have succumb to Italian food. The staff are well informed with regards the menu and wine list. The food is well presented and to say large portions are given is an understatement. I believe this is the best value restaurant for money in Kilkenny.

I went here on a Saturday night with some of the girls. I opted for the fettuccine with chicken and mushrooms in a lovely creamy sauce. Very busy restaurant, I wouldn’t recommend it for a romantic meal as the night we were there the place was full of hen parties.….good spot for large groups though! And the meal was absolutely scrumptious…couldn’t fault the food!

yum. I really enjoyed the early bird meal I had here. It was extremely good value. The restaurant itself is quite small so booking ahead is essential. Pretty much standard Italian fayre. Yep I would definitely go again, maybe on my next visit to Kilkenny.

This is a jewel of a restaurant in the heart of the city. Its quite small so you would want to book ahead especially if you are going for their early bird menu which was very good value. Not much atmosphere but when you try the food and see the prices, you will be more than happy. It was only 34euros for two starters and two mains, and you can choose from a wide variety of dishes. Would definitely go back here again.

On a recent visit to Kilkenny we dined at this restaurant and it was fab !!!!! Doesn't look much from the outside but is really nice when you get in. Staff were very friendly and efficient. We had our 6 year old with us and she got pasta which she devoured - licked the plate !!!The menu was very extensive and the early bird was great value. I had linguni gamberi and it was delicious. Overall a really pleasant experience - would recommend it highly and will visit again.

Had the early evening menu on Friday last (2 courses, wine, tea/coffee for 2 for €50) Great food, delicious wine and superb value. I would highly recommend the mussels to start. Very few other people there though (but it was only 5pm) so lacked atmosphere.

Myself and my BF went here on a Thursday evening. Understandably it wasn't very busy.. We were over an hour late for our booking and had made no contact to the restaurant but when we got there the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Definitley reccomend this restaurant. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Food is great. Price is very reasonable. And the staff are very friendly.

Have been to this restaurant on two occasions.. Have been really impressed with the food... Had meatballs for starters and a seafood pasta main the last time I was there.. Both gorgeous.. Really wide choice of foods available.. Only complaint is the veg come smothered in butter which kills the taste.. Also on my previous time there my friend and I took advantage of the 49 euro deal which includes a bottle on winw.. Unfortunately we had to ask for the wine as the waitress was a bit preoccupied and when we did receive it it was warm.. The atmosphere in the restaurant is a bit sterile and on the sat night when the restaurant was nearly full, it was really loud.. Do not go if you want a romantic atmosphere. but if you want good food, great choice and a good deal go there!

Always come here with my boyfriend and we are always very pleased. the food is delicious and the menu is so extensive! Recently tried their pizzas and it was scrumptious. I again had the antipasta misto for starters and it never disappoints. Fantastic value and very generous portions.

Went here with partner and 6 yr old daughter today for lunch before cinema. Was busy enough for a Sunday lunchtime. Staff were very pleasant and the menu extensive. No separate menu for kids which I loved, just order kids portions from the normal menu. Partner and daughter had pizzas which were absolutely gorgeous, I had the fettuccine (perfectly cooked) with chicken and mushroom sauce, also excellent. Cant remember the last time all three of us finished everything on our plates! Desert was delicious, the chocolate cake is very good indeed. We all had very pleasant experience. Great value for money. main course and desert and drink (no wine) for 3 of us was 40 euro. Definitely will be going to this place again.

My family and I were staying in Kilkenny recently and on one of the evenings we booked a table for Little Italy, a fabulous little Italian restaurant right in the heart of Kilkenny City, opposite Langtons. We choose the early bird option, 3 courses for 15.95. Food was delicious, portion size excellent and food presentation second to none. Staff were lovely and very pleasant. We must have been there for 2 hrs at least and there was no rush to leave. I must stress that in order not to be disappointed, you should ring ahead of your visit and book a table, as there were at least 30 people turned away while we were there because they had no tables available, a great sign, especially during a recession, cannot wait to visit litttle Italy next time i am visiting Kilkenny

I visited this restaurant on Saturday evening with my wife to try the early bird. We were seated immediately and we decided to try the three course early bird special priced at €15.95. The taste and presentation of each of our courses was excellent A nice atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff all contributed to a very pleasant evening overall. Great value for money, highly recommned, will return.

I visited this restaurant on Saturday evening for the first time. We decided to try the early bird menu priced at €15.95 for three courses. The choice was either a starter or a desert along with a main course and tea or coffee. There were four of us together and each of our courses from starter to main to desert were very well presented, tasty, and each a generous portion size Our waitress was friendly and efficient. Toilets were clean and the restaurant was well laid out and attractively decorated. Overall a very pleasant experience, great value for money and a restaurant that I would highly recommend and one that I hope to return to again soon.

In Kilkenny for 2 nite stay, went here for the first night. Great location. We had tasty bruschetta for starters and antipasto misto, only thing about that was the parma ham was a bit off colour we thought so we didnt eat it, which we noted to the pleasant server. For mains we had Tortellini Alla Ricotta E Spinaci which was gorgeous and creamy and also the carbonara which was also really really tasty. We skipped on the dessert because we were so full. We had a bottle of decently priced wine also so all in all a good night, bit quiet for a Sunday night but shur what can ya expect with the recession.

This is a new restaurant in Kilkenny and I've been there a few times. The early bird menu is great 16.95 for two courses - a good deal when some of the starters are 9.00. The food is very nice and the staff very friendly. Make sure you don't sit anywhere near the door, the door doesn't close properly and everytime some one comes in it stays open - we had to get up at least a dozen times!! Though that shows how popular the place is.

I would definatly come back for the food . but the service was not so good, like most of the reviews i have read if you dont have patience dont go. cos you would just end up walking out. i know i would have only my two friends wanted to go for dinner there.we waited 20 minutes before someone took our order and thats only cos we put our hand up to get someones attention. and nobody came back with dessert menus, but i have to say every thing we ate was fantastic even the desserts when we finally got them.

One of the busiest restaurants in Kilkenny at the moment due to the value menus available. I visited at lunch on Satuday and availed of the €15 lunch menu which included a starter, main course and drink of your choice. The antipasti starter was delicious, with a very generous helping of cured italian meats, artitoke hearts, olives and italian breads. I felt i ,made a mistake with the main course, i ordered a pasta with fillet steak, mushrooms and cream. Cream! The dish was just too rich. Maybe the large starter played its part but it was just too heavy to eat. I havent given up on Little Italy, but when i return i wont be odering number 51 again

Had a gorgeous meal in here on Saturday night, food was delicious and reasonable. Like other reviewers though, I felt the staff let it down, we waited ages for our order to be taken while staff polished tables. However I would go back for the food & the good value!!

I came here with friends as I heard good reviews about the food! We were shown a table in the middle of the restaurant which was kind of uncomfortable to start with as it felt quite cramped. The food here was lovely with a nice selection! However it's only downfall was the service! It was slow and quite cold! Instead of taking our order the waitress persisted to clean tables and walk aimliessly around with a bottle of polish! Once the main had been cleared we were left for ages!till finally we asked to see a dessert menu! It's a shame because the food was nice but I wouldn't be returning with anyone that has no patience!!

Was looking forward to some italian as hadnt had any in a while. Though the food was good here one memeber of staff was so rude I would prefer to have spent my money else where. 4 of us had the meal deal- 2 courses for 2 adults plus a btl of wine for 50eur. This is good value and food was good, but this member of staff almost put us off our food they were so rude. They should definitely think about how the treatment of customers before losing them all.

Went here with my bf the first week it opened! I had a yummy tomato and goatscheese starter and my bf had the antipasta. For mains we both opted for chicken dishes- both of which we loved! It was busy on the night we were there, a mixed crowd of old and young so there was a good atmosphere. Def good value, think our bill was around 60 for 2 starters, 2 mains and btl of wine-had no room for dessert! Will def come back here, we had a lovely evening.

Beautiful place! Myself and the wife went for a meal here on Friday night after seeing it open during the week, I had a delicious thin based pizza and the wife had the carbonara, we had a bottle of red to go with the meal, everything was excellently presented are very well priced. If the prices arent a good enough recession buster alone, there is also an early bird menu I hope to try this week. I will definitely be back, and probably on a regular basis
