we booked in for a party and we had a private room that we were promised noone would be walking through but we were seated a whole 5 minutes and several people had passed through. our waiter was lovely, very attentive, a little too attentive... i ordered the vveg soup for starter and when it came out it looked and tasted like packet soup. for my main i ordered steak, medium-rare but it was burned. the potatoes and veg were beautiful and the pepper sauce was fab, all the time we were eating the waiter was standing there watching us, which wasnt very comfortable. the dessert was fantastic but all in all i wouldnt go back there again. big disspaointment...

Was on a weekend away and after hearing amazing things about this restaurant we decided to visit ourselves. Gorgeous space and lovely venue. The food was ok. The only problem I had with the restaurant was that there was no separate entrance for the restaurant and you have to walk through the bar which is turned into a nite club after 10pm. It was very loud and messy. I'd return again but not on a weekday night.

Stayed in the hotel and had dinner in the restaurant. Being a Wednesday evening the restaurant was not busy which took away from the atmosphere. Good menu, good food and reasonably priced. Top class house wines. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. Overall a lovely evening

Booked into Langtons for a Christmas party from work. The food was very good and the service was impeccable as usual in Langtons. I had the Brie for starter and I dont know if I tasted nicer. I had the 7ox steak for main and it was cooked exactly as I asked, however I woasnt crazy about the taste of the meat, I thought it was a little bland. The veg was ok I'd have preferred a green veg but I'm probably being too picky. The service was great and the waiting staff were polite and quietly efficient. The Maitre D'or asked the table three times if we were ok which was nice. However they couldent do anything about the atmosphere because it was half empty, pity when the restaurant is so good. I hope they get busier up to Christmas. I've eaten and stayed here before and have always been very well satisfied.

Ate here on a steam train weekend. The service was excellent provided by an extremely pleasant and efficient lady. My friend and I shared a garlic mushroom starter. For mains I had lasagne whilst my friend had a fish dish. We both loved our food. This bright and airy eatery offers very good value for money. I will be back again.

It was half four when we got here so the place was dead quiet - just ourselves and another person dining in the bar. The menu was good, lots of variety, husband had the Monday Brunch which he enjoyed and I had the chicken panini which was tasty. All in all food fine, staff fine, pricing wise - it was a little steep for what is being served. Would give it 3/5.

I booked a table for 10 here for a stag night. I was looking for somewhere nice so that the focus would be food rather than alcohol. Langtons was perfect. They were very accomodating, menu had a lot of variety and atmosphere great. The place was really buzzing and busy. Food was great. Price was good but not great. I guess it is one of those places that is so well established that they don't have to do deals etc to fill the place up. Very happy with them...

Food and service is always very good in Langtons, however currently when most other restaurants and bars are reducing their prices, Langtons remains the same. In a great location for one in any part of the town.

Visiting Kilkenny decided to go Langtons for dinner. We walked into bar were food was being served, not a fan of bar food decided to go into restaurant. I ordered lamb cutlets to be cooked well done. I might as well have stayed in bar as thats what was served Bar food. The lamb was very tough and red and mash was just warm. Only good thing here is staff lovely

went in here while in kilkenny during the week,we were told it done great food by a taxi driver, but when we went in and sat down all the waiters just kept walking by us,so we went up and asked for a menu and the bar man was very abrupt and said he was very busy, then he shouted at another waiter and was very degrading to him,it took a very long time for food to come and it was mediocre nothing to praise the hotel about.i will say it was good price, for 13 euro u get a main and a soup or a dessert.

was in Kilkenny today, went to Langtons for lunch. the place is very comfortable with a well stocked bar, nice but busy atmosphere. i had fishcakes and steak main, the lads had turkey and ham, the food is okay but nothing special, just pub grub you would find anywhere half decent, maybe the restrauant is better at night but lunch is average, not a scratch on the last restruant i reviewed in Wicklow. Service is okay but slow, it was a busy place during lunch so we did not mind too much. no soul , no heart in the food, no little extra touches, nothing special or memorable. Value wise, fiver for starter tenner for main, its good value, but how this place gets good reviews for food is beyond me, but i'm just going by todays experience.

I can't understand how this place has such high reviews?? I was down in KK visiting family and met a friend here for lunch - it would never have been my choice but went along anyway. Im sorry but on a value for money basis this place just doesn't cut it. It's average at best. I asked the waiter what his idea of a medium rare steak was - being presented with a cremated piece of meat - and was told, 'not sure, I dont eat steak!' Maybe I was rude - but why ask me how I like my steak if it doesn't mean anything - frustrating!! Wont be rushing back in a hurry.

Great buzzing place to call in for a speedy, tasty lunch. We got a table in the bar but there is a large restuarant out the back (both serving the same menu at lunchtime). We had a great freindly service; the chicken gougons served with salad and fries were hot, fresh and not those tough fast food types. My sister had the lasagne and found it a bit strange when she was asked if she wanted potatoes and veg but she chose the salad. It was a nice lunch, quick and effiicent service and good value - all you need during a lunch break

There has to be some pay-off between such a cheap meal and the food quality! Ate here on Saturday as part of a large group. Service was excellent, very helpful staff. Atmosphere lovely etc. It was such a pity the food was such a let down. Caesar salad came in a dessert bowl, terrible presentation. Steaks - the waitress didnt ask how we wanted our steaks cooked, should have been our warning sign!! Chargrilled wasnt the word, we nearly needed electric knives to eat them they were so tough. I know most people go here because its a cheap and convenient eat pre-nightclub but they let themselves down badly with the food quality!

Went here for lunch on a sunday with my partner. We both had chicken caesar salad that was made with chicken goujons-delicious!We were seated straight away even thought the place seemed very busy ad the service was excellent. There were lots of young families here and so I would reccommend this place as child friendly for sunday lunch!

Myself and four friends had a great evening in this beautiful restaurant. We had choosen from the set dinner menu as we got a free dinner, with complimentary bottle of wine as part of a special offer with the Hotel. The restaurant staff were friendly and very accomodating (we changed tables, then they volunteered to take a group photo of us). The resaurant manager that night was a real lady! She recommended the lamd shank (heaven!), and the wine (a great Shiraz on special offer). We were so comfortable in the restaurant that we had our three courses at a leisurely pace, and were the almost the first to arrive and the last to leave. The starters were brilliant-the salmon that night was a standout. The lemon tart, and cheescake and chocolate tart desserts were yummy also. We all agreed we had gotten quality food and friendly service at a fair price. At the end the waiter escorted us into the nightclub (carried our drinks for us) and got us a great table by the dancefloor. Highly recommended.

Went here for a dinner yesterday. I had the mixed grill which was cooked with all local ingredients. The sausages were up there with the best i have tasted. It was quite busy and there is a always a good atmosphere here. The satff were attentive and friendly and the service was quick. The meal was good value for waht i got. The best point was the food and the worst was the seats i found them a bit uncomfortable. Very small complaint though! Recommended!

Visited relatives in Kilkenny last week and after pottering around the shops decided to have lunch in Langtons. A varied menu with the main specials changing daily.... I had the Chicken A la king which was really yummy and the profiteroles are gorgeous... The others all had the Chicken Breast stuffed with Spicey Sausage...their only complaint was a need for extra gravy/sauce for the mash! Good Value, good service and a full happy belly.

I have been here four or more times in the last six months and ate at the lunch menu. The food is of a very good standard its all ways full on a Sunday with good reason. The prices are not high and the food is well cooked and presented. The only negative I could possibly give the place is there is almost too much attention given by the merecat like waiters. But I suppose that's a good thing.

I regularly visit Langtons as I think it is the only relaible restaurant in Kilkenny when it comes to food quality and service! The staff are always very helpful and pleasent! The ceaser salad is perfect for lunch while the duck makes a perfect dinner!I would easily eat breakfast, lunch and dinner here! it's always worth the money and the atmosphere is always great!

Visited with a family group for lunch. Food was dissapointing. A chicken kiev consisted of a breaded chicken breast with a lump of unmelted garlic butter sitting on top, beef was overcooked and dry, salmon also overcooked, veg eventually was served to some guests when they had nearly finished their main course. Kids portions were too large and large amounts were left over. Service was disjointed and there seemed to be more urgency in settignt the room up for dinners than dealing with the late lunch guests.

I ate from the Bar menu on the Bank Holiday weekend, the menu was pretty standard bar food, I only had a sandwich, which the staff accommodated my request for a non meat variety, it was cheap and cheerful, exactly what I needed. I was reliably informed the burger was very good and also had the desired effect. My main gripe would be related to the service, the staff were very pleasant but actually getting served was no easy task. Naturally the Bank Holiday meant it was busier than normal, but it wasn't packed by any means, in fact the day before when trying to order 2 drinks we waited so long we left and went else where.

Myself and two friends eat here in the bar area which was very well set out for dining. I had roasted goats cheese starter and absolutely devine mussels for main course. We each ordered different starters and main courses and my friends were also very happy with their food. Service was friendly and efficient and the cost very reasonable. I would recommend to my friends without hesitation.

I went there for a dinner with my friend Place was not too busy. I heard that usually it is packed. We had no reservation and got a table for 2 with no problem. Service very good. We didn't have to wait long for a meal. I ordered a greek salad which was lovely! Full of olives, feta chees with delicious dressing. Plate was full of fresh ingrediences. Menu not too pricy. The best thing about this place is that it's located in the citycentre. There's hotel and night club.Really worth to try.

We dropped into Langtons on a Saturday Afternoon after soending some time shopping in Kilkenny. On offer was the Lunch Menu of a Starter and Main for 17 Euro. Decent value for a full meal. For starter I ordered the deep fried Brie while my boyfriend had the chicken which was delicious. However my brie was so overcooked that when I cut into it, all that was left was the an empty breadcrumb shell... all the cheese had obviously leaked out. For mains he had the beef pie while I had the lamb. Both were cooked very well and the lamb was the nicest I have had for sometime. If I was in Kilkenny again, I would definitely return to Langtons.

Had dinner at Langtons a number of times in the last year and have found the standard to be quite low. Have ordered fish, on a few occasions, which arrived at the table overcooked. Also, asked for turkey without ham for one meal and found small pieces of ham in my veg.

ate here with my girlfriend after hearing alot about it and must say i was impressed, for starter i had the fried , i wasnt overly gone with the flavour but it was cooked perfectly so that was just me i would say, for mains i had the rack of lamb which was fantastic, it was so tender it just fell off the bone, the mash and sauce that came with it were also very tasty, for desert i had the ice cream and brown bread gateau with butterscoth sauce out of curiousity and was pleasently suprised to find it a wonderfull way to finish the meal, 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desert and 4 drinks for €79, excellent value, staff plesent and effiecent

Lunch in the bar is great value with a good choice of starters and mains. It can be hectic in the evenings, especially at weekends, but make your way through to the formal restaurant at rear, an oasis of calm. Again a vast menu, with something to suit all tastes.

The atmosphere at Langton's is fantastic! It's spacious, but it's always alive and buzzing with activity. The menu is huge and it usually takes me some time to decide what I want, but I've always been extremely pleased. The staff will recommend dishes they like or dishes that they know the cooks do well. They do basic meals like steak and chips, and they also do casseroles and stews that are always tasty. The service is always fast, and sometimes the portions seem a bit small, but I suppose that leaves room for dessert! I highly recommend stopping into Langton's for lunch or dinner and prepare to be satisfied!

Consistently good restaurant - have been visiting here with my family since I was a child. Food is always good quality and a huge choice is offered. Great value for money. Restaurant is nicely decorated and large but well laid out. Love the chicken & mushroom vol-au-vent and ice-cream gateau or choc biscuit cake.

Over the years we've gone to Langtons for lunch, birthday dinners, hen nights etc. Overall it's great- good menu, efficient service, occasionally I choose a dish that ends up not being as nice as those that people with me choose..but I guess that's my fault. Today we had lunch and it was perfect.

self and partner ate here friday 03/10 and can say that we both enjoyed our meals.partner opted for 7oz steak which she thought was a bit on the small side, whilst i got the steak sandwich, both were served with fries and side salad.nothing special about the food or value, but that being said we were both happy enough and wouldnt rule out a second visit to langtons when in kilkenny again.

I was at a Hen party in Kilkenny at the weekend and the bridesmaid booked Langtons for our meal. None of us were particularly familiar with Kilkenny but Langton's reputation for hen partys kind of gave us the impression that we weren't to expect very much food wise. We arrived and were brought to our table and then no waiting staff approached us for about 15 mins. This suited us very well because there were 20 of us and everyone was arriving in drib and drabs and at no stage did we feel under pressure to order etc which put us all at ease. The table was well stocked with jugs of water so we were all happy out. It's very hard to please 20 people, yet alone 20 women!!! But not one of us had a bad word to say about the meal. I had the cheese which was so tasty and then the Lamb Shank which was to die for. It literally fell away from the bone. I didn't have dessert but a few of the girls commented on how tasty they were. We all left very happy. It cost €50 a head including a 3 course meal, wine, beers and the tip and the bride to be's meal also. I'd definitely recommend it...but...be careful, the floor is like a parque/wooden floor and is lethal, many of us nearly ended up head over very high heels! :)

My family regularly eat here. Its top quality. Easily one of the best places to eat in Kilkenny. Staff are great. Menu is constantly changing but always the best of food. Excellent.

Good food, nice atmosphere at a reasonable price. Lunch menu and Sunday menu in particular are excellent value. Friends went for evening meal few weeks back and also thoroughly enjoyed it.
