Myself and my mother decided to drop in here for a quick lunch one Sunday afternoon. The place is very nicely decorated, plenty of character, old fashioned decorations and I could see why it was a draw for tourists and visitors to the city. However, the standard of service we recieved was very poor and as a result we are unlikely to return given the choice of establishments in the city. We both ordered toasted sandwiches and pot of tea. We were given our tea and told our sandwiches would be brought down to our table when ready. The place was not busy and after 15+ mins, they had not arrived so I mentioned it to one of the floor staff. He said he would check it out but another 15 minutes later, he had not returned and our food had still not arrived. Eventually, we decided to leave as we were tight on time. We told the deli staff and they said our sandwiches had been burned and they were remaking them, they were just ready. Had they informed us of this, we would have understood and had no problem but the complete lack of communication left a sour taste. In fairness, the staff did offer the food without charge as we were leaving.
