Stayed in this hotel for the weekend and meal was included in the deal.It was a set menu and I must say it was really good. I had the brusetta for stater and it was very tasty. She had the chicken salad which was good but there was not much chicken in it. We both had steak for mains and mine was cooked to perfection. Both deserts were really good too. Washed down with some nice red wine. Everything was perfect and I will be back.

i dined here with my husband over Christmas on a Saturday night. the restaurant was very busy so i had high expectations. We were quickly seated but had a long wait to place our order and an even longer wait for our food. The waiting staff were very friendly but so busy-absolutely run off their feet. I had ceasar salad to start and it was nice but not exceptional. My husband had the prawns which were very nice but way overpriced €13/14 for a small starter portion. I had the chicken curry for main course and had no complaints. My husband had the pork and again no complaints. We both had a glass of house white/red wine and it was excellent. We did not have dessert mainly because nothing really appealed to us on menu but also we were satisfied with the food we had.

Booked for half eight and we were seated immediately, the waitress who attended our table was very professional, ordered our starters and mains and a bottle of wine, starters arrived shortly after and mains arrived within 5 minutes of starters finished , food was excellent and we will def be back shortly

A few of us dined here over the June bank holiday. Our waiter was on the ball to get our order in before a large group who were also about to order which was nice of him. The food was fresh, very tastey and great value for money. We all tried desserts and everyone was happy.

Faboulous early bird menu. Great value and excellent quality. Normally whenever I have gotten an early bird menu, you epect there will be something cut from the meal as well as the price, but not in the City Bar. The selection is slightly limited, but well worth the €25.50 for the 3 course meal

We visited on a busy Satuarday afternoon, lots of families dining out but relaxed atmosphere. The fish cakes were delicious and the service impressed. We will be back.

eaten here on a few occasions and have to say the food is lovely.. apart from the fact that my mam got brought out a fish pie instead of a shepards pie but other than that i could not complain... very child friendly... the steak is superb and the chips are real potato chips. a great kids menu and extremely helpful and friendly staff... a definite place to dine my husband loves the mussell starter and everything is cooked fresh... highly reccomend

Have eaten in Jacobs Cottage on numerous occasions and have yet to be disappointed. Great food and atmosphere, friendly and efficient service - definitely my favourite restaurant in Kilkenny.
