I purchased a MenuPages deal for this restaurant and as it was our first visit when we used the voucher, we did not know what to expect. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was good, and finally the food was top notch. The menu was extensive and had anything you could want available even though we were on a set deal. We have since returned to the restaurant for a second visit and again had a great evening. Will definitely be returning.

Have eaten here often over the past few years and keep returning. Staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Great choice on the menu and good value – two courses for two people and bottle of wine for 49.95. They offer varied breads and dips as we read our menu which is always a nice touch. Have tried a number of different starters - the mussels and chowder are delicious. It’s very hard to resist the 8oz fillet steak for mains which has been cooked perfectly the majority of the time and comes with mushrooms, chips and your choice of sauce. I have also asked for it with potatoes and veg and there’s no problem. The specials are a bit hit and miss so will be sticking to the a la carte menu. House wines are delicious and great value. Will definitely keep returning here.

Visited again, with a group of 6 for Sunday dinner, as usually busy enough but still managed to get a table, salmon bruchetta is a must and this time I ventured for the stuffed chicken with moserella & parma ham, the sauce was divine, kids portions are very good & great kids menu. Great offer if you order 2 course/ 3 course you can get your choice of wine for €9.95, which was deal. Great food, excellent service. Will be back.

im from kildare and have passed chapter 16 @ the silken thomas on lots of occasions. today we decided to pay a visit for lunch. on entering from the back door it was warm and very busy it was 2.30pm. great to see it so busy in the current climate. we were lucky to find a table near the front and within 5 mins of sitting down we were approached by a waitress to take our order and within 10 mins of taking our order we had our food. i had a small ceasar salad lovely cold crunchy lettuce & croutons crispy fried chicken strips and creamy ceasar sauce. plus a portion of chips. my partner had a toasted sandwich which came with side salad. half bowl of soup for the baby and a bread roll. chapter 16 well worth a visit. plus when you park behind the silken thomas which cost 2euro they take it off your bill. well done to all parties concerned...

had lunch here. pumpkin soup was nice came with nice brown bread. ordered fillet of sea bass with pesto ratatoullie. sea bass fillet was possibly the worst most overcooked fish i have ever even seen. honestly could not get my knife through it. it was like it had been semi dehydrated overnight, pesto ratatoullie was good idea if bit oily. brought it to attention of waitress who handled it very well and immediately acknowledged its flaw took it back and returned with an apology from the chef. companian had lovely basil and mozzarella stuffed chicken breast and lovely buttery champ potato. ended up having decent salmon fillet which had come from carvery next door in attached pub but was practicle option to catch up with companian. dessert of bread and butter pudding was bit heavy but enjoyable. would come here again decent value

In my opinion this is the best restaurant in Kildare town. The menu is broad and they are well staffed even with a full house on weekend evenings. I ordered the ceasar salad for starters and scampi for the mains and both were quite delicious. Earlier on the same day i actually went in for breakfast and got a lovely full irish with the most genuine bacon ive tasted in a long time.

I dine here occasionally, usually for a family gathering or party of some sort, and have always found the food, service and value for money exceptional. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and efficient. The garlic stuffed chicken is amazing, and they always have great specials on. Recommend this to anyone who'll listen, especially for parties!!!

Have eaten here a couple of times, the most recently being Friday night. I do agree that the buffalo wings are second to none, however they are just a starter and they don't offer them as a main courses. The house red is very good and one of my group ordered the sea bass and found it quite nice. However, overall I found chapter 16 to be a bland, run of the mill restaurant with little on offer that isn't offered anywhere else.. I would go back, because they are consistent, and in Kildare it is one of the best of a bad bunch.

I ate here once and wouldnt be in a hurry to go back. I thought the menu was fairly ordinary with nothing special on it. The only thing on it that I liked was the chicken fajitas and even at that it was only enough for 2 of them which wasnt great value. We only ordered a main course and were left waiting for ages. The service wasnt great and then we were left waiting for ages again when we went to pay.

Found this web site and thought it pretty cool to write a review on the restaurants I like. I dine in Chapter 16 quite a lot and have done for many years. I have found it ideal for my family events and on the occasions my wife and I wish to have a quite meal together. The steak is what keeps me coming back and my wife loves the chicken wings, a little too hot for me. The staff are the best, they even took our youngest son into the kitchen one evening when he was a bit grumpy, cheered him up a lot.

One of the best establishments I have ever eaten in... The food was fresh and wholesome and the service was fantastic to boot. The decor of the restaurant was very modern and the large window looking out on the market square of Kildare Town only enhanced our experience. I brought a party of 16 people there on a Saturday Night and every went according to plan. Would also like to thank the manager for all her help, a wonderful night had by all and will definitely be back

I have eaten there 4 times and like it very much. I really enjoyed the chicken wings and the Silken Thomas is well known for its steaks. Also I enjoyed the sea bass and found a great variety on the menu. One thing that really impresses me is that I feel full leaving and don't feel I have been robbed. Its great value for a hearty meal.

I have ate here twice. The first time I was not impressed. The food was just about ok & we waited ages for our food. The 2nd time was the same again. We did not want starters, so we just ordered a main course. We had to wait 1hr 15mins for our food. We were going to order dessert but we were waiting so long for our main course we just left after that. Don't think I would be in a rush to go back.

Ate here just the once. Phoned to book and asked if there was a vegetarian option and was told there was by a very abrupt chap who seemedd rather annoyed that I was bothering him with the question. When we got there I was told the vegetarian option was veg and potatoes......need I say more. My partner said his food was average, more like carvery. Won't go back here....ever.
