Bedlam, City Centre South

Bedlam is one of Dublin’s HOTTEST new restaurants. You will find us in Castle Market – that’s the pedestrian street that links the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre to the Georges Street Arcade. Bedlam is all about casual dining in the heart of the city, and our menus feature unfussy cooking using only the best ingredients. Our food has a ‘Mediterranean meets New York’ twist. Our hugely popular rotisserie chicken and rotisserie pork, our house specialities, are already creating a buzz about town and show our chefs at their best. We are open for brunch, lunch and dinner each day. Brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon is a specialty and not to be missed!

Went to Bedlam last night for the first time, I do love trying new places so was really looking forward to dinner. I rang and booked a table for 5.45 to make it for the early bird which was advertised on menupages to be available on Saturday from 5-6.30. When we arrived there was no early bird available, we were told they don't do it on Saturday. A bit disappointing. We ordered the antipasto platter to share for start. Was really disappointed when it arrived, the presentation was awful, it looked like it was falling off the plate and had toasted sliced pan thrown on top with packets of butter, very small amount of meats, poor quality olives and lukewarm roasted veg. At 16 euro it was a major rip off, and a really bad start to the meal. For main i had the prawn starter with a side of veg. It was really tasty and i did enjoy the only complaint was a huge knob of butter on the prawn's. A little unappetizing. My partner had the duck, which was really tender and tasty. My parents had the lamb pie, delicious apart from the mash potato which was very watery, and the burger which was ok. We shared and apple pie for desert, which was really good apart from the star anise which should of been removed, my partner thought he'd eaten a piece of bark! Over all the interior is amazing and the menu is appealing but a little over priced, the antipasto in particular is a disgrace. I would return maybe in a month or two for the early bird but wouldn't be in a huge rush.

Ate here with friends and my boyfriend after checking out the menu online. We found the food very delicious, although some of the portions were a little small. We each had a starter and a main and then shared a desert and a cheese board between us. Value for money was not bad - about €50 per head, so OK for the amount of wine that we had, and the meal was good. Service was good, but when i booked I was told that we would have to leave by a certain time. This is my pet peeve in restaurants. More-so when I walk in and there are VERY few tables booked, and there were no people queuing up to come in when we were finished. Because of the 'seating time' we felt the meal was a little rushed and we would have rathered sit back and relax a bit more. Will I go back - probably but not rushing back!

Visited this restaurant yesterday for brunch following a very successful visit in March for a hen party. The experience this time unfortunately was not so good. After arriving and giving our order to a very friendly waiter, we received our beverages and were content to read the papers as it was a relaxed Saturday afternoon for us. At least half an hour later, our food (a Club sandwich and an Eggs Benedict) had not arrived. Nobody had come to check on us and we only became aware of how long we had been waiting when we noticed other people receiving their food who had arrived after us and when we realised that the coffee and coke we had ordered were now finished. At that point, we mentioned it to a member of staff who said he'd check on it. Five minutes later, he still hadn't returned to us so we said it another different member of staff who again, didn't return to inform us what was happening. Eventually, my husband got up and said it to the man, who looked like the owner/manager who said it was 'on the way'. No apology or explanation was given at this time. When our food did in fact arrive (another five minutes later), the gruff manager/owner said that the chef had lost the ticket but again, did not offer an apology. He was about to leave the table when he kind of glanced at our drinks and said could he get us a drink. My food was 'fine' without being exciting and my husband said his was lovely, very tasty and fresh. We asked for the bill and there was no sign of any concession/reduction on that. As a result of the poor service, ignoring us and then not a sign of an apology, I will not be returning, which is unfortunate as I planned to book another hen party of 30 for there in the coming weeks.
