Super spot. I had the steak and guinness pie which was beautiful, tasty and enough to satifsy a big apetite. Plus the chowder starter was delicious. My partner had the ceasar salad and two weaks later she still craves it. My 4yr old daughter was treated v.well by the excellent lovely staff who were friendly patient and welcoming. We ate there twice and on the second night a slight error occured in the ordering and our meal was 30mins late. We did not complain but the waitress could not apologise enough and offered us free deserts or drinks and even gave my daughter a free ice cream as well. I think this is one of these spots that people look for and rarely find. I will always go back to the old smokehouse when I am in dingle. A gauranteed beautiful meal every time.

We’ve dined here once before and it was a pleasure to return, this time with a group of 9 of us. We had a view out into the main street as opposed to sitting in the back room area overlooking the river that flows by outside. It’s an original building of the street and is tastefully decorated to appreciate the well-prepared dishes that presented us. I had the mussels in chilli & tarragon sauce for starters which is very unusual but having something exceptionally different was a pleasure. Mind you, my wife’s codling sauce was too strong for an entire dish. On returning it, there was no charge and was provided with a free dessert. Meanwhile, she availed of the far-too-many mackerel pieces that accompanied my champ & pesto special. These were tastefully grilled and as the mackerel were small they did not have that excessive oily taste you can get from this fish. Others to the table chose from the variety of fish dishes of salmon & herb-crusted plaice which are all derive from the local Atlantic seaboard, and you can taste the freshness. Moderate prices, you’ll get good value & service here.

Would totally recommend this place, the food, service and whole experience was fantastic. You must try it. I especially recommend the Tempura fish and homemade chips, it melted in your mouth.
