My husband and I stayed a night here while on honeymoon. Absolutely stunning location and great food. We had a package that included accommodation, dinner and breakfast so it was great value. Both meals were delicious. He had a hearty lamb stew while I had the seafood platter, with a rhubarb and almond crumble for dessert. For breakfast, I had the drop scones with bacon and he had the full Irish. We were both stuffed after our meals. My only complaints are that I prefer having background music at dinner, as it adds to atmosphere and I found the waitress a bit brusque for my liking at breakfast. But overall, a lovely restaurant in beautiful settings overlooking the sea and mountains.

I enjoyed a wonderful family get-together in Gorman’s restaurant recently. I always enjoy any meal that I have in this restaurant as the food is really top-notch. The restaurant has a fantastic view of the cliffs of Dúinín & the three sisters and has a cosy atmosphere. The hostess was as always her warm and welcoming self. We started the night with a drink by the fire and were then seated in the restaurant. I ordered the avocado with sunflower seed & cashew nut pâté that was served with a mixed leaf salad and oatcakes as I wasn’t starving like I usually am in restaurants! It was a lovely starter with all the flavours of the dish complementing nicely. Most of my companions ordered some type of seafood starter (smoked salmon, prawns, crab etc) and all agreed that the fish was really fresh. For my main course, I ordered baked aubergine with pesto and natural yogurt as it caught my eye. It’s an unusual dish that I hadn’t come across before so I was dying to try it out. It was delicious – the pesto was very nice and the dish wasn’t heavy at all. Obviously, if you hungry, go for a meatier dish! I tried some fish (I think it was plaice) from my neighbour’s dinner and it was very tasty. I finished with a coffee and we stayed chatting for ages afterwards. The Hostess joined in our conversation for a while and we felt under no pressure to leave. The night was such a great experience as the food and hosting could not have been better. While the food might be a little on the expensive side, you can tell that it is very fresh and we were assured it was locally sourced (very important in these times). I left the restaurant knowing that it was money well spent! I’m looking forward already to going back.
