Cafe Topolis, City Centre South

Cafe Topolis is located in the heart of the city center, next door to Dublin's City Hall and serves its guests with a wide variety of mouth-watering Italian cuisine. All of the pizzas at Cafe Topolis are cooked in the traditional wood burning pizza oven. A wood fired pizza oven cooks your pizza better than a normal oven because of the heat it stores in its dense walls.Due to its shape, the oven disperses the heat very evenly which ensure the pizza is perfect when it arrives at your table. If you're going out for lunch, then you can get a great lunch at Cafe Topolis from €10.95.The early bird menu starts at 3pm and offers a great set meal from €13.95. Dinner is served from 5pm and offers you the best in traditional Italian food. Cafe Topolis has its own special charm, it is a popular choice for families as there is something for everyone on our menu.

Last night was my second visit to Cafe Topolis in a few weeks. The early bird is excellent value at €14.95 for starter, main course, tea or coffee. This time I was in a hurry to get to a play in the Project so I just had a main course of chicken stuffed with spinach and mozzarella in gorgonzola sauce with sauteed veg (in place of the potato option - not a problem) and the OH had a pizza. Both delicious and service was excellent (as it was previously). Ideal for a quick pre-theatre bite - close to Project Arts and New Theatre and for groups having a leisurely meal. Not exactly romantic type setting but very pleasant and warm interior. House red by the glass is quite acceptable and tap water served in bottles with mint is a nice touch.

My wife and I visited this restaurant last night without a reservation.Despite the restaurant being very busy, the staff were very helpful in finding us a table and the service was excellent throughout the evening. The atmosphere was very good and the restuarant was neither too noisy nor too crowded. We felt we had sufficient privacy as this can be an issue at other locations when the tables are close together. As for the food we both considered it to be excellent value for money as it was well presented and tasty. For starters we had calamari and bruschetta. Both can be easily done badly but in this case the chef made them perfectly. The calamari was appropriately crisp and came with a delicious swwet chilli sauce. I had a wood fired Hawaiian type pizza which was excellent value and contained very fresh ingredients. Finally there is a great choice of desserts but I would recommend the sticky toffee pudding which was delicious and was neither too moist nor too dry. All in all I would highly recommend for great service, food and a lovely atmosphere.
