The first thing that hit me on the day that I walked into Devs was the lingering smell of old grease. The floors and tables and even the glasses seemed to be coated in it. I ordered a full dinner with chicken wrapped in ham served with veg and potatoes. It sounded nice on the menu. And I was looking forward to it. The waitress was polite but rushed and apologised as there was no potatoes left and offered chips as an alternative. I asked if they were home-made she said they were. I ended up with a pile of fried frozen chips with a couple of lumps of chicken that seemed re-heated in a frier. The whole 'meal' tasted of the greasy smell that was hanging in the air and it wasn't until later that evening (several hours later) that the taste of old grease left my mouth. To add insult to injury they tried to charge me for the full meal that was on the menu. I wouldn't eat there again if I was paid to do so.
