Had a lovely evening in this restaurant. It is a bit on the expensive side, don't expect a main course for less than €30. But saying that the food is lovely, serivce was without fault, and the atmosphere was nice and cosy, not too quiet, not too loud.. If you don't mind paying a bit extra for excellent food this place is definately worth a visit.

Easily one of the best restaurants I have been to. Was empty when we arrived but it filled up quickly. For my starter I had a warm crab salad in a chilli and ginger sauce. Then I had the lobster which was amazing. Well worth the €36 price tag. Staff were excellent. Would love to go back next time im near Kenmare.

Was looking forward to eating in this well known Kenmare restaurant for months. Has been booked out on previous visits to Kenmare as it is very popular particularly during the peak summer months. Food definitely impressed and service was very attentive as well. Main courses very much seafood focused due to the location. Great selection including a number of specials on the night, Monkfish, Seabass, Turbot, Cod, etc. We went for the Monkfish with a Ginger and Garlic crust and dip and the Turbot Special. Sides include Salad / Fries / Colcannon and a nice selection of roast baby veg. Desserts were very good as well we opted for the praline ice cream with chocolate sauce. Was a very impressive meal in a very nice restaurant and would recommend. Only gripes are as follows; prices are way too expensive 28 to 34 Euros for a main course is too much. We had a table from 6.30 to 8.30pm which they needed back which is fair enough, but no allowance for early diners through an early bird or cheaper menu. Finally it doesnt look like they have passed on the recent vat reductions again. If they could get their prices more reasonable would be perfect!

Started with asparagus and a duck leg confit. The former was good but the later was dry and was more like a roast then confit. Very nice panfried john dory for mains. Decent wine list with some reasonably priced bottles. Service was professional and attentive. The head chef certainly made an effort to get involved in the front of house which was nice to see.

I love this restaurant. The food is A1. It's very cosy and the atmosphere is great. I had the soup and the duck. The soup was delicious and the duck was superb. My boyfriend had the crabcakes and the scallops. I tasted both of these and they were very nice. I did find it on the expensive side but I would definitely return.

The family booked the early sitting here on a busy Friday night, and it was one the highlights of our holiday in Kenmare. The food was superb, good quality ingredients, cooked to perfection,a decent wine list, but what really won us over was the service, not once did we feel we were being rushed to be out by 9 pm. I look forward to our next visit.

Visited Packies last Saturday during a trip to Kerry, group of seven people. Before I say anything about the food I have to say that the service was excellent, it really made the meal. Overall very nice, I had a starter of crab & coriander in filo pastry, which was a bit light on the coriander but quite tasty. For mains I had halibut in a nice simple but Beurre blanc & shallot sauce. My only complaint here is that the portion sizes where absolutely huge. Desert was a cheeseboard shared among three of us, four cheeses, but a let down here was the crackers that came with them, glorified cream crackers if I am honest. Wine wise we had a bottle of Prosecco to start, followed by several bottles of a nice Albarino, which was very good value. On a side note, cost wise this is not in the 15-20 a main, more the 25-35 range. All told though it was still very good value.

This is my third visit to the restaurant and all good experiences. The menu is predominately fish with a small selection of chicken and lamb. For starter I had the crab cakes with tartar sauce, slighted overcooked on one side, but still tasty. I had the chicken for main with coconut sauce, natural yoghurt and pineapple salsa - succulent chicken, extremely tasty and very large portion. All mains served with a choice of rice, fries, boiled potatoes and veg. My companions had fish dishes and reported that they were extremely good. Dessert was Crème brûlée- very soft. Perhaps it’s my own preference that I prefer more solid Crème brûlée. Overall a very pleasant visit. The staff were exceptional nice. I would recommend booking in advance as we saw a number of people being turned away and go hungry as portions are large.

For me no visit to Kenmare would be complete without visiting this restaurant. For ambience, value for money and overall fabulous food with exceptional staff I couldn't rate it highly enough. I am never dissappointed by the food and look forward to eating here again.
