The waitress we had had no interest in us and seemed totally bored with us and put out by our small baby and her needs. We were told the food would come with potatoes and veg and out came chips and a small bowl of leuttice. I could not reccomend this restaurant especially for anyone with children.

I would travel through Kenmare on a regular basis, and have dined in many of the fine establishments that this quaint village has to offer. The Horse Shoe is one of my favourite eating haunts, as it is very cosy, friendly and offers good value for money. On a recent trip to Kerry, we stopped off for a bite to eat. I had the crab which was absolutely delicious - full of flavour and a decent sized portion to boot. My wife had a fillet steak which she thoroughly enjoyed. A bottle of mid priced Cabernet Ssuvignon and 2 coffees rounded off a very nice meal. Well worth visiting if you are in the Kenmare area.

We had dinner here last wednesday night & it was excellent. My wife had the fillet steak and I had a gourmet burger with fries. The staff were very attentive, even though it was a midweek night and the place was surprisingly busy. Next time we're in Kenmare, we'll definitely return here.

The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the food was absolutely fantastic, and our server was very friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I both ordered the burgers, and they were absolute perfection. I can also say that the Treble Chocolate dessert is one of the best desserts I have had in a very long time. DELICIOUS!

We stopped in on our way back up from Beara Peninsula to get energy up for drive to Dublin. Very warm welcome from barman/waiter and we were sat by the door. Very pleasant breeze from hot street outside aided thirst. It was great being able to have a pint but the range of wines by the glass on offer proved far more attractive for some. The highlight had to be the crispy chips. They were just stunning. The fish dishes (halibut and turbot I think) were a hit. My burger was a delight, I liked the fact that the bun was a small one meaning less bread and more meat. Really set us up for the drive home and was a lovely bookend to trip down South. Highly recommended.

we visited as part of a group of 7 on New Years eve, having had the place recommended to us. I will not be overly harsh on the place, as I appreciate that, with the night that was in it, the kitchen may have been under pressure. Having said that, we had a booking for 8:30, but we were contacted by phone to push out this until 9. when we arived at the restaurant, our table was not ready. The place is small enough, and even though there was a bar, it was not big enough for us to have a drink and wait, so we had to leave. It was 9:30 before we were seated. We were seated just inside the door, and midway through the meal, the bar area behind us had filled up to such an extent that it was uncomfortable to eat there, and several of our group were getting bumped by people standing directly behind our table. Many of our party had monkfish for main course, which was overcooked, but our complaint was not entertained. The bill was incorrect, but out of honesty we pointed out their mistake but not even thanked for our honesty (they had under charged us originally about 120 euros. I have no doubt that the food here can be better, and maybe if we had eaten earlier it might have been a more plesaurable experience, but we were all a bit disappointed leaving this restaurant.
