really nice pub with a lively atmosphere, the staff were very friendly and chatty - a nice change from some places. The food was very nice, there were two of us and we had some mussels and garlic bread to share. I had the chicken gougons and my husband had the special of roast chicken - very nice but at 16.95 a little over priced. We stayed on for a few drinks and there was some great traditional irish music. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food

We had dinner there on Saturday evening. It was busy, even at 6pm and it took some time to get seated. They staff were friendly and helpful, but they were under a bit of pressure. We had to ask twice for water and some items on the bill were incorrect. The food was simple but good and freshly cooked. It was above average for pub food and good value too.

Have just returned from weekend in Oughterard. This bar serves great food and fab breakfasts. We had dinner here twice and breakfast twice! Breakfast menu has great choice - I had delicious pancakes with maple syrup, rashers & suasages. Full Irish really good also - served with loads of toast and homemade brown bread. Dinner menu great for a pub - I had deep fried brie followed by cajun chicken - really nice. Service excellent - owner very hands on which explains why it's always so busy.

Recently moved to Oughterard, and called to Breathnachs for dinner with my family. The food is just like the food "mother use to make", beautifully home cooked meals which everyone loved. Staff are very friendly and service is excellant. Would highly recommend Breathnachs, will definitely be seeing us again.
