Fogartys is under new management. It has been redecorated and looks very well. The menu has also changed. We weren't offered the early bird so I'm not sure of the times. The new menu is more upmarket. Starter of pork belly with black pudding looked really impressive. Presentation was wonderful however the black pudding was just ok. The other starter of fish cakes was really tasty - lots of fish. Mains: sea bass with wonderful basil and olive mash. The chicken main dish was divine - very indulgent. We were too full for dessert. There were only 2 disappointments: the ordinary brown bread. As an accompaniment to the new improved dishes some unusual breads would have been better i.e. walnut or tomato breads. Also background music didn't add to the traditional Irish ambience. However we were very impressed and will be back.

We tried the Early Bird menu - which was available even though it Saturday evening at 7.00pm. It was excellent value and the food was really good. We went for the three courses and cleared our plates. The homemade soup was very tasty as were the mushrooms. We both had the haddock for main course, that batter was really light and the fish very good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
