What a great spot. We were staying nearby but didn't fancy hotel food. We arrived here at about 8pm and had the door held open for us. The restaurant area is at the back of the pub but many were eating at the pub tables too. The restaurant was full with locals and there was a great buzz about the place - luckily we got a table fairly quickly. The service was excellent and so was the food - my husband had chicken kiev which was freshly made and delicious. One son had chicken gougons and chips - 6 massive chicken breast gougons which he demolished. Sadly they were accompanied by frozen chips and no vegetables (why do restaurants forget that kids need veg too). I opted for lasagne but it was sold out so I ordered chicken fajitas which were fabulous - second son wasn't hungry so didn't order anything but soon recovered his appetite when my sizzling dinner arrived and helped finish the lot. With two pints and two glasses of Guinness, two soft drinks and two desserts (four massive scoops of various ice creams each) the bill came to €62 - great value. The service was friendly and efficient. The food would have received 5 stars if they had used fresh chips and supplied some veg with the kids meal.
