had roast beef (very tough) other half got deep fried place, was only ok, could have gotten better in a chipper, really disappointed, staff were very nice, they asked if the meal was ok, i told them it was fairly poor quality and the girl didnt seem that surprised... all in all, this was a first time bad experience in here so it wouldnt put me off

I would not recommend this place for food at all. I don't know if I went on a bad day or what, but the food was bland and overpriced and the portion was small. I was very disappointed as I'd heard it was great and had wanted to go for ages. We ate in the pub, not realising there was a separate restaurant. I'm not sure which menu they gave us, as the one we saw didn't match either of the ones on this web site. I had the salmon acapulco. It consisted of a small fillet baked in foil, with a little red onion and avocado on top. It was served with a portion of dry tasteless mash. I could have done better myself, and I'm not a great cook. And I was charged €16 for it! There wasn't a herb or sauce in sight, or a portion of veg. And they should be ashamed of their mash potato! My friend has the steak sandwich, and she was very happy with it. The kiddies menu is varied and good value, at €5.50. However nothing will get me through the door again.

situated in clarenbridge, its a real gem of a place, got the old pub atmosphere combined with delicious food, especially seafood, all locally sourced also. great place for a family sunday meal and also to sit back and relax in a friendly atmosphere, staff always very helpful which adds to the old irish charm of the place. portions are big size also so defo value for money, The shellfish dishes are definitely worth a look..regulary have given vouchers as presents for this place and the opinions has always been top marks

This is an institution when it comes to Oysters and the Oyster festival. I would agree, if you are looking for oysters it is a place to go. For general food, it however is quite the normal pub fare. The menu is quite standard, some twists on salads etc are quite inventive but don't quite hit the mark, my pet hate is when restaurants put a twist on a menu item and it no longer is that menu item, the Caesar Salad here is lovely but it is not a Caesar Salad! The service is as you would expect in pub environment and the atmosphere is quite the same, although very pleasant. For pirvacy, try get a table in the very back room, although on occassion you may be forgotten; as I have! Value for money can be found elsewhere in the area but as far as pub grub goes, it is not too bad.

Lovely Oysters!! Very nice atmosphere in main bar but was disappointed to be seated in a dull room out the back with only us (a couple) and a large party. You won't leave here hungry!! Huge portions of food, which is OK quality traditional - nothing fancy! Duck was a little dry only complaint. Great place for a good feed.

This is by far my favourite restaurant in Galway! Everything about it is excellent, the food is beautiful, we have never had a bad meal here and have gone in large groups for special occasions and groups of 2. The staff are the friendliest you will ever meet!
