I'd like to highly recommend Tulsi. I've always enjoyed the food there but hadn't been back in years. A small group of us went there last night and had a lovely experience. The service and food were fab. They do an early bird menu until 7.30 (not sure about weekends). It's €16 for 2 courses and tea/coffee. And there's a big choice in the early bird too so you won't be stuck for choice. Top marks!

One of my worst eating out experiences. Food pathetic and service hopeless which means they do not understand when customer ask for something. Shared a platter, oily soggy and tasteless stuff. Mains were so liquidy as the chef had added a lot of water by mistake and tomatoey. Sorry folks it was my first time and there was no point in complaining as your waiter just kept saying yes to everything so i was confused but i am not now as i have a lot of different options to eat out in galway. Total waste of Money and time

dined in this restaurant last night, walk in and we were brought to a table. ordered wine and then we ordered our food, for starter we ordered a mix veg platter and for main courses, we ordered dal turka, and chana bhuna, 2 plain naan. our waiter was not at all polite taking our order, very rude actually. We got our starters and main courses brought at the same time, when the waiter put the chana bhuna dw we advised that what he brought was chana saag and that we had ordered chana bhuna, he spoke in his own language to me and took the dish and advised that it would be 2 minutes. our bread was under cooked, full of dough. eventually we got the chana bhuna, tasteless could t eat it. we advised this when the waiter came to clear the plates and he got very up set, saying no problem you only pay for wine and he walked off into the kitchen, within a few seconds the chef came out shouting at me about the naan bread that i didn't eat, when i spoke to whom i taught was the manager, he said he didn't know what i was talking about, i'm surprised as there was only 1 other table in the restaurant. my night was ruined and i was quite upset about been shouted at, my b/f was very angry and asked for the bill, we were only charged for the wine but we left E20.00 extra as we didn't have any problem with our starter or dal turka. But waiters had problems with me.

Response:
hi i dont know what is the point to just post something like that. when something like that neva happend. we were full of coustomers that night and we were not let you's in because you were quit drunk as we seen. still we did and all our coustomes has seen the aswell.you even confused the waiter when you were giving the order because you's were drunk.but still when u complained to the manager about the bad service we said ok we are not billing you for the food. because we did not want to get a bad reviews about our restaurant without no reason.

Kakonclub,This review is not made up. you only had one other table dining that night. Your staff are rude and are you with your lies. If you are a member of staff and it seems you are i wounder why u are allowed to have a profile on menu pages. You said that u offered us the food for free because you didnt want us to write a bad review, that has to be the most stupit thing i have ever heard. With the service and standard of food you are giving to customers i wounder how you even make any money as you must be giving free food to everyone.

Went here recently on a Saturday night with a few friends. It was really nice and the food was lovely. The service is always very attentive here without over-doing it. I would recommend the korma or passanda and the garlic naan. they were amazing..proper indian cooking! It is a little expensive but I think it is worth it. The atmosphere is calm with indian decorations and music and lots of space between tables which is good. They are very welcoming to groups, I would say book in advance just in case it is busy on a weekend.

I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant while out for a walk with my boyfriend last Sat and I'm so glad I did. The service was brilliant we were well looked after ansd it seemed like it was very important for us to be enjoying ourselves, the food was beautiful and portion size was great too not huge and not tiny just enough to walk away feeling satisfied and not bloated and horrible. We got a bottle of wine and 2 starter mains each plus naan bread and an extra portion of chips and all for 63.00. We were not rushed out of the restaurant even though it was busy and when we were leaving the staff were chatting away to us. The decor isnt all that modern its quite quaint though and sure who cares about the decoration when the food and atmosphere is brilliant. This is one now one of my favourite place to eat and I will definately be back.

This is an excellent restaurant although it was pretty empty (not surprising on a Wed night?). The food was great and the service very good. My big complaint is that we were deliberately overcharged. The waiter asked if we wanted extra rice with our dish, and we said no. Then he said we needed to order rice, as if we wouldn't get any rice unless we ordered it separately (what Indian food comes without any rice at all?). So, we ordered what we thought was extra rice, but no extra rice was brought. I should have challenged the bill but we needed to leave. So, they really need to be more honest and straightforward with their customers if they want completely good reviews and repeat business.

I have eaten here several times before but had not been for a while. The good news is that it is still as good as ever. Probably the best indian restaurant in Galway and reasonable value for money. Best Naan bread ever and everything else cooked to perfection. Can be difficult to find if you do not know where it is.

My family and I have visited Tulsi for the most part of my life, and still visit regularly, and I must admit it is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in, let alone Indian restaurants. The staff, when given a chance, are some of the friendliest and most easy-going people around. The service is top-notch, and staff are always willing to help. Now the most important part: The food. Due to my fear of extremely spicy dishes, I try to eat mild dishes, but have found myself tasting and absolutely loving the spicy dishes also. The food has never failed to impress and every dish has its own unique exquisite flavour. I am a 6ft tall man very much into sports and eat quite a lot, and i have never left this place unsatisfied(I usually have no room for desert-and thats saying something). The atmosphere is really relaxing, and after a swim and dip in the jacuzzi, there is no better place to go. The Sunday lunch buffet is absolutely brilliant and the most loved dishes are on offer. I would highly recommend the chicken or lamb tikka masala. Give Tulsi a go-you will love it!

Nice Indian, have visited on two occasions now and have not been disappointed. Definetly worth a visit. Staff are pleasant & welcoming and not overbearing like some places. Decor could do with some updating but food is good and not bad value. We enjoyed it and think its worth a visit. i didn't find any fault with it.

As good as it gets!!! My favourite thing in the world to do is to head to Tulsi on a Friday night. The food is excellent. I've made my way through the entire menu and enjoyed all the main courses, but the winner for me is The Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala, this is the nicest thing in the world to eat! When I get it for a takeaway, the drive home to knocknacarra is a killer as I am so excited about my meal that is only minutes away! If I had to make a complaint it would be with the starters, starters are not really their thing. On my last visit I had the Jumbo Prawn Butterfly which was very ordinary and I would say the same for the Tandoori Quail additionally the presentation leaves a lot to be desire(this is forgivable as its not about presentation, its about mopping up the delicious sauce with a fist of Naan). Your best bet is the mixed platter which gives a nice variety and gets the taste buds going. Unfortunately things aren't much better in the dessert section, no effort is made here, the ice-cream is as though it comes straight from Aldi and is served in the container it came from the supermarket in! Please do not be put off by this because all is completely re-deemed in the mains section. If Tikka Masala isn't your thing try a good hot Lamb/Chicken Jal Ferezi and start downing the Tigers............ BLISS!!!!!

This is one of my favourite restaurants in galway - the food is always gorgeous. Their lunch menu is great - very reasonable. Serivce has always been good when I have been and I have been quite a lot - as have my family. Best Indian in town I think

Went to Galway for the races at the weekend and came across this restaurant. When we walked into the restaurant we were basically on top of the diners. The place was small and they tried to fit as many tables in as possible! We were seated at a table for four, even though there was only two of us,it took ages for the waiter to take our order. When she arrived down with the drinks she forgot to take the jug of water down, when our meal was ready she brought me down lamb jalferezi in stead of chicken jalferezi. We ordered naan bread to have with our meal this came down to us when we both had finished our meal. Indian food is my favourite cuisine and to me this was the worst Indian restaurant I have ever ate in. A couple were also sitting at a table of four, the woman was heavily pregnant and they were asked to move to a table of two as the table of four was booked. This I found appalling!!! I also went to the toilets and this was appalling too. The whole restaurant needs to be ripped apart. If I was ever back in Galway I would never ever go to this restaurant.

Well 7 of us dinned and i must say, having eaten in many Indian restaurants over the years in UK and abroad, this was a terrible value for money night, poor quality taste and way over priced. All dishes tasted the same, from Masala, korma, biryani and passada (sorry if I do not spell correctly). I saw the special biryani which included chicken and lamb and prawn for 17.95 Euro, I asked for only prawn as I did not eat meat, the price then jumped to 19.95 with a mere four prawns on my plate. I questioned this and was simply told ooh they are big prawns, my reply was that I thought it was a bit mean, the sauce to accompany should have been a rich vegetable sauce, it had 2 small cubes of potato, no other veg and tasted of nothing but hot chilli powder, I would say a quarter of a millimetre of potatoes and nothing else, my plate was full of rice and that was it! Biryani is supposed to have boiled eggs and other vegetables with it. This was an utter rip off and pretty tasteless. When I tried my fellow guests food, it was the same, bland and lacking fresh spices, so important in Indian cooking. I also ordered a bottle of Indian beer priced at 4.95 Euro; I did not get a bottle but simply a half pint, the other beer in half pints retailed at 2.95, I asked for a really cold bottle and got only a warm half. The dreadful twanging of old fashioned Indian Sitar music was dreadful, and the response of the waiter when I complained about the 'four prawns' was pathetic - well actually no, it was just insipid and none existent, he simply walked away. Had I not been with 6 other guests I would have taken it further in fact I would have refused to pay the 19.95 Euro for four prawns, but did not want to offend my guests. All in all this was a very expensive evening for nothing more than indigestion.

I've eaten here on two occasions! The food is reasonable, but it lacks a strong Indian flavour! The service didn't stand out, neither good nor bad! I believe that it has a good Sunday lunch!

I ate at this restaurant because of rave reviews from this website. The restaurant itself is clean but a little on the drab side decor wise. It is difficult to say anything about atmosphere since on a Wednesday at 8:30pm there were 4 other tables. Service was OK - fast and not unfriendly. The food is disappointing. Not because of anything unsanitary but rather it is the use of poor quality ingredients, combined in an imaginative way and not presented with any style. The meal started with complimentary poppadoms which were slightly undercooked and served with an array of largely flavourless condiments. For starters my colleague had flattened Onion Bhaji, while I had Chicken Tikka. The Bhaji was OK,nothing to write home about. The Chicken Tikka were obviously not cooked in a Tandoor oven and lacked any of the required spices that give this dish its flavour. For the main course I had a Lamb Masala. My colleague ordered Chicken Tikka Masala. We did not venture as far as the standard fare of rock hard frozen desserts that require a blow torch to eat and taste vaguely sugary. We also ordered a side of Mater Paneer with soggy Garlic and plain nan. The portions are large but for me large portions often indicate a lack of confidence in the food on the part of the chef. In this case it is well founded. What is letting the place down is poor presentation, low quality ingredients, little or no use of fresh basic raw materials and lack of imagination in their combination. The food is largely bland, lacking both texture and character. The sauces appear to be mass produced rather than freshly prepared. All in all you it is one to avoid if you are looking for a special culinary experience.

I ate here with a friend on Monday night. The restaurant was quiet, so the staff were attentive. The food was really delicious, more than enough in the main course alone to fill. The prices are around average for an Indian restaurant. I really enjoyed this restaurant and will definitely return!

The finest Indian restaurant that I have been in in Ireland. The quality of food here is absolutely sublime and the portions are more than enough to fill any person! Definitely recommended!
