Stayed at this hotel for the weekend food in the Bar is excellant, we had lunch here on the day we arrived and it was so good we had dinner here on the saturday night after having a terrible dinner in Galway on the friday thought it was best to stick wit the hotel. For lunch on the Friday i had red snapper and on the Saturday i had trout both catch of the day and both were excellant and fault could not be found. Staff are really friendly and helpful. I would definatelyrecommend a meal here if you are in the area

Was staying in the hotel this weekend. We ate in the bar on the friday where the service was fantastic, and the food was good so we really looking forward to trying the restaurant. We were sadly disappointed! when we went in we were shown to a table that felt like an ''add on'' the chairs were different to the rest of the restaurant and it was cold..not good start! the menu wasn't very big starters were bit over priced in my opinion the mains were much more reasonable. My husband odered the duck spring roll which when arrived was huge well dressed very tasty and appeared to be freshly made. I asked would it be possible to have the side of mushroom risotto for starter which was no problem. But it was awful, tastless goo, with mushrooms thrown in at end as an after thought! We both ordered the monkfish for mains. Awful!!! Over cooked and tasteless, served with baby potatoes and veg also not great. when the waitress collected plate we told her it was awful and she said oh i will tell chef. she returned and did offer to get something else but we really didnt fancy chancing it. we had enough. we ordered cheese for dessert which was lovely. As soon as our bottle of wine was gone the ice bucket and wine was taken no offer of more...although we were ready to leave! we got bill and the final insult was not alone were they charging for the2 horrible monkfish but we were overcharged 20 euro for them. at this point we were feeling like a real problem to the waitress and she done nothing to dispell this. we paid and went to leave and as we were walking to the door the waitress seen us coming turned around and burid her head in the till.we left furious hungry and over 75 euro poorer...not happy!!!!

Good Hotel, there is a bit of athmosphere in the bar and the staff were friendly. They reccomended a special, beef stroganoff. I was sold on this and my companion had chicken. we were served about 5 mins apart, with one dish getting cold. The place wasnt overly busy, just felt the staff wernt on the ball. The stroganoff was very dissapointing, more like a stew with rice. We got coffees the same time as the table beside us and we noticed that they had got a couple biscuits on the side, and we hadnt. I call a staff member over to ask for our little biscuits and was told "Oh, they are Regulars" I hope the next time I go back things improve.

Booked this for 6:30 as we had cinema tickets booked for 8:30 and was worried about having enough time. I needn't have. 3 courses in less than an hour!! very rushed, food was ok, but nothing stood out as being special which is what you'd expect from a 4* hotel. Carrot soup, sirlion steak, and baileys cheesecake, all average. The waitress that brought the order/cleaned the table etc was very efficient, but the one that took the order got mine wrong twice, she didnt write anything down and she didnt seem to be paying attention. Just ate there cos we were staying there, wouldnt rush back if we were staying elsewhere.

Firstly I have to say I visited the hotel during the Galway races so service and food may not have been the norm. Certainly, the menu on the website was far more varied and appealing than what was given to us on the day. The service was really appalling even taking into account how busy it was. We were left waiting for AGES for our drinks. when the food came it was bland and my partner's fries were undercooked. This could have been a once off because the hotel breakfast was of a very high quality for a 4* hotel.

My highest praise for the Tribes Restaurant certainly has to go to the waiting staff. Our waiter was very professional and couldn't do enough to make our evening enjoyable. The basket of homemade breads were wonderful! The food was just okay; we were expecting a higher standard considering the cost. The dining room is pleasant, but dark in places and they could really use some candles.

Recently dined in Tribes Restaurant and I must say it was truly amazing. Being a lover of seafood I was delighted to see such a range of fresh, local seafood on the menu. I chose the mussels to start and the monk fish for main course and both were delicious. Others in my party chose the T-Bone Steak and thought it was the best they had ever had. I will definitely go back, not just for the food but the really courteous and friendly staff who made our evening truly memorable.

Tried the early bird menu (2 courses) the other day. I had the beef steak while friend had the roast duckling. Food was nicely presented. It was one of the best pieces of steak I had in a long time - tender & juicy just perfect. For dessert, we had the assite of sweet things where u can try a bit of everything like creme brulee, cheesecake, ice cream etc. atmosphere was warm and waiters attentive. Will consider coming back for the early bird menu.
