Excellent selection of dishes that catered for all our tastes from traditional Irish dishes to seafood or steak. Reasonably priced with friendly staff. Would highly recommend.

As a food critic it is my job to eat in many different restaurants. Its not very often you come across a gem like the Quays. I would have no problem saying that the Quays Restaurant is the best place to eat in Galway. I eat there every time i'm in town, no other restaurant compares. It has one of the biggest lunch menu's i've seen anywhere and the consistency and quality of food is always as good as the last visit. It is a traditional Irish restaurant that serves traditional Irish food which believe it or not is hard to come by in Ireland. It's informal decor is much more welcoming and warm than that of some of it's stuck up neighbours. For a great night of fantastic food and amazing atmosphere I would recommend it to all my friends and family.

My partner ordered a seafood dish. You could tell it had been sitting on the plate for some time and just heated up when ordered. His bread was served with the cling film still on it. I ordered the quiche, salad and chips. The chips were uncooked. The quiche was soggy at the bottom. Four different waiters served us. The waiting staff looked confused and unprofessional. We were served another main course after our meal by accident. Our bill came to around 35euro including drinks. I paid with a 50 note and our change was given in mostly coin. First and last time we will dine in the Quays.

I had lunch in here a couple of times, the last time I went there I wasn't impressed at all with the dry tasteless vegetables and fatty lamb. I usually don't like carverys anyway, but this one was just bad. Can be a good pub to drink in at night, but I wont be eating here again.

I am not a fussy person. In fact this is the first time in my life that I have ever written a negative review about a restaurant but I am doing it in the hope that other people will not pay money for the disgusting slop that they serve in this place. Pub grub or not. When I saw the prices on the menu I presumed the food would be good. Its pub grub, so when the majority of the mains are over €20 you better get something good right? Wrong. My starter was the "tiger prawns wrapped in filo pastry" which in reality were frozen prawns done in batter, most likely bought in Tesco, and thrown into a deep fat fryer and put on a plate along with a minging chili sauce and some disgusting coleslaw. €7. Still it was edible, since I would often buy this sort of thing in Tesco myself after all, just not at that price, you understand. My main course was "chicken Kiev supreme". When it arrived it literally looked like a kid’s runner, if I chopped it into pieces and made it circular we could have used it to play table tennis. Absolutely disgusting and of course there was no filling in it despite being described as a chicken "Kiev". Also the pathetic portion of vegetables tasted exactly like they had been fried up in the same pan and tasted of every type of meat juice you can imagine the chef used throughout an entire days work. Top off with a potato in tinfoil and about 4 chips. Absolutely disgusting. €21 There were 5 other people at our table so many other dishes were selected. The lamb stew- I mean it literally looked like someone had vomited into a bowl and put 3 chunks of lamb into it. The steaks were equally disgusting and as for the seafood platter - Ever heard of John West's or Picnic Tuna and seafood? If not, again visit your local shop and pick up a few cans. Added to the fact that the whole eating area stank, and you couldn’t even breath due to lack of ventilation (not even asking for air con here) and you've got the worst meal I've had anywhere in Ireland since I can remember.

I have lunch in the quays every time I’m in Galway, its typical pub grub but of the highest quality, and great value for money! They do a great cold meat salad also which normally gives meat from the other specials of the day. The staff are really nice and friendly also!
