The food was very nice although the options were a bit limited. I enjoyed the chicken fillet burger. The presentation was different but I liked it. Service was excellent, there was no delay in ordering and the food arrived quickly. It was very quiet when we arrived but the place filled up quickly. Location was also excellent - on the edge of town with loads of parking.

We popped in here for lunch last Sunday ( I did call to book earlier that morning as it is always very busy). The service was very rushed and seemed to be understaffed. We both ordered main courses, I had the hake which was nice and my partner ordered the fish pie which was very tasty. Both came with side salads which were fine. I had the pavlova for dessert which was gorgeous. I thought it was a bit over priced for " pub grub" as there wasn't much to either main course.

Incredibly disappointed today. The dinner of two halves. Lazy food was handed out, the batter was not fully cooked on my fish, chef didn't turn it while cooking and felt it acceptably to serve. My chips were a mix of cooked properly and over cooked. I go here because it's consistently good, but not today. Lazy.

Food was nice but totally overpriced! E.g. almost €9 for a plain chicken wrap with a tiny salad on the side!! Chicken salad with mango was delicious. The open egg mayonnaise sandwich tasted really fishy...like of smoked salmon!!! Not nice!! Great parking, ery nice pub, very clean bathrooms but prices are ridiculous. Our waitress was quite surly from the off but maybe she was just having a bad day! Won't be in a hurry back.

I like the huntsman as a pub which is why I gave it 4 for atmosphere but that's what it is... A pub. Charging restaurant prices for pub grub. That being said there are plenty of places in the city where you would get restaurant food more affordable than this.We ordered crab claws to start and while we were waiting another couple who ordered a fair bit after us had been served their starter, when it did come it was overcooked. Then for the main, which also came after the other table had theirs, I had chicken fajitas, which were ok, and my partner had pork, which was quite nice but a tiny portion, for €19 you would expect more. I could live with waiting for food if the food was good value and quality, but I feel no one should have to pay above €15 euros for a main in a pub. I live in Galway and will not be recommending the huntsman. There cheaper, better eats to be had in Galway.

Nice modern pub / restaurant. Food was good enough and the staff were friendly. As some other reviewers have noted I thought the prices were higher than they should have been. That said a very pleasant evening was had and I would go back.

I have mixed feelings for this place. It is expensive for pub grub. For example, I had great bruschetta (mushrooms on foccacia with parma ham so not your typical bruschetta), but it cost me €7! I also had the cod 7 chips for €14! The batter on the cod was nto crispy so I didn't enjoy it at all. It would be difficult to get me back there.

The food is really really nice but the prices are a bit on the expensive side considering it is a pub. They have a restaurant menu and a separate pub menu. At the moment they have a quite nice food platter menu in the pub area which is great value. We shared a platter for 25 Euro with 4 different choices and the portions were quite good. There is a good selection on what you can order for your platter and if was very tasty with different dips and chips on the side.

I had a very nice meal here today with a friend. The place was nice and busy. I found the service a little slow, but the food made up for it. The staff were very friendly. I would go here again.

Very busy for a Tuesday evening..Very pricey for what we had ...Probably the worst Bruchetta ive ever had but thats just personal taste i suppose..Chicken Goujons (5 of them) were tasty but when you can count the number of chips that accompanied them its not exactly filling if you not having the full 4 course meal..too expensive for a pub

Very tasty food but too pricey for pub grub. The chowder is the best I've ever tasted and the goujons are to be recommended too. Busy pub, busy staff could be much more attentive.

I like this place, we go there about once a month for a quick bite. It's a very busy bar/restaurant, so probably not a good place for a romantic date, but the food is very good - I love the chicken goujons and fajitas, but would not recommend the caesar salad (a little too much souce-bacon-chicken-parmesan, not much lettuce).

Had a quick lunch here last Sunday, the restaurant was really busy but we managed to get a table. They mixed up the drinks order but the food was good and reasonably priced. Overall, nothing special.

my worst visit between no toilet paper and hand basin not working waiting 15 to 20 mins for our order to be taken, then order to our table with tea and side order had to be requested again. No parmesan or black pepper offered had to request (supervisor was notified) then left on our table to service myself and left on the table for duration of meal. Yes the food was OK but the pasta dish was full of tomatoes and the caesar salad (lettuce limp and yellow) Standard has definitely dropped.

I have eaten here many times before and both service and food were excellent. However, I was extremely dissatisfied after my visit today. Firstly, on visiting the loo, there was an absence of toilet roll? and two of the hand basins were out of order. Regarding service or should I say "lack of", we were left waiting 15-20mins and had to ask for our order to be taken. We requested tea with our order but it did not arrive and neither did the side order which I requested. My friend ordered a pasta dish but had to request parmasan cheese and black pepper. both items were eventually brought (by the supervisor!)and simply left on the table, without being attended to. Regarding value for money, the recession has had no bearing on meal prices...overpriced pub grub:( I will not be returning.

A group of us booked the restaurant for the dinner menu and were nicely suprised at how decent the food was for a pub restuarant. I had the steak which was well cooked and nicely presented. The selectin of food on the menu was great and served everyones tastes!

Good Pub Grub. But pub grub is its limit. Had an evening meal here and was a tad dissapointed at the food and presentation. The place was very busy so this may have had a bearing. My partner said the chowder was excellent but I had steak and I was very dissapointed as it was quite dry served with no imagination or presentation and the veg arrived 10 minutes into the meal. Coffee and tea was offered up and drank before the desserts arrived. This spot is ok for quick early evening meals and lunches. There are far better eateries within eazy reach for a proper evening dinner experience. The atmosphere was good

Im really wondering if Im rating the same place as most of the people below. I visited last week and the food was anything but tasty. I had the pasta with chilli pesto and sundried tomatoes (I counted 2) - it was smothered in oil and tasted of nothing. The boy had the goujons which again tasted of nothing although the chips were quite good. They were big enough servings and the place is nice but I wouldnt be coming back expecting a nice feed.

Have eaten here on a few occasions and stayed here too, it is a lovely place to go for food and stay on for a few drinks after, the decor is nice and bright and the staff are so friendly and efficient, they have a good wine list also. Great place and definitely worth a visit, will definitely be going back.

Really like this place. It's just on the outskirts of the city so it's really handy to get to with lots of car parking and also a bus stop right outside the door!! Food is lovely and wholesome and there's plenty of space in the pub, even though it's always quite busy.. Worth a visit!

I've eaten here twice in the last two months and both times found the food excellent and really tasty. Service was a bit patchy although well intentioned. The decor is interesting and modern, though drafty when smokers hold the door open! overall interesting and tasty food well presented, if a little pricey for what is effectively pub grub.
