Had dinner here on Saturday night, wife and infant son in tow. After a hard days trekking around Galway had been looking forward to a nice dinner and bottle of wine. The staff couldn't have been more helpful on arrival. The menu were presented and we were given plenty of time to make our choices. Whilst the menu was on the small side there were some interesting sounding dishes on it. Both my wife and I picked the Cajun Chicken salad. The first disappointment here was the chicken was cold, sliced and probably from a packet. To add to our disappointment the menu seemed to suggest that there were to be strawberries in balsamic, however, the only strawberry seems to have been in the balsamic dressing which ws difficult to tell given the dearth of dressing on the plate. For our mains I plumped for the roasted pork loin dressed in honey and served with a apple sauce. The pork itself was fine however, the apple sauce was a serious let down. It appeared to be some of gravy from the days earlier carvery with a few sliced apples through it. My wife's half of roasted duck with an orange sauce appered to have been half of a Chinese crispy duck with orange sauce and I suspected frozen. Both dishes were seved with the usual crescent shaped plate of overdone vegetables. I think the less said about dessert the better as both were defrosted and soggy. All in all a disappointing meal given the genuine class and friendly atmosphere that the hotel had. If they could bring up the quality of the food the hotel would be far far better.

Nothing special, my husband and I ate here twice as part of a package. On the first night four tables sat waiting to order while 3 staff cleared and reset a table for 4. Slightly frustrating, as we had not had a chance to order a drink yet either. The water tasted like it had come from the swimming pool, it was so full of chlorine. Our waitress was lovely, but you got the impression the place was over booked and the staff couldn't handle it. Second night was much better, we booked an early table and managed to avoid most of the rush. Wouldn't have eaten there on the second night but it was already paid for. (the manager did try to charge me again as we left though!)

The food here is average and nothing to write home about really. In fact it lets down what is really a lovely hotel and I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here when there are far nicer restaurants in Galway.
