Had continental breakfast here on a Saturday morning: croissants were stale and their cappuccino is watery and tasteless. It is a self service, not particularly cosy. Overall a bit disappointed.

Went here on the advice of someone who lives just outside the city. I was looking for somewhere near Eyre Square and just wanted a light lunch. I had the Grilled Fillet of Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce and it was excellent. I stayed on a little longer and grabbed a coffee to go - will be back when I visit Galway City again!

Went for lunch here recently. Food was ok but very much a canteen type setting. Was also very busy and overly crowded.

Tried upstairs last night with my wife and 3 kids I had chicken maryland and my wife had salmon The meal was really good and the kids menu went down a treat especially the colouring book gift. It cost €70 for the 5 of us. I consider that great value in these times and would definitely go back again

I have eaten here many times but it always seems the same downstairs - busy, no seats and mediocre service. However, if you choose to eat upstairs it is quite different - helpful staff, good menu and no rushing. The toilets are not convenient from downstairs either - they are located up lots of stairs. Overall, avoid the lower level and eat upstairs in the restaurant.

Who doesn't know an older relative that doesn't frequent this place on a daily basis? It's a great place to have a cuppa and watch the day go by!!

I've eaten in the GBC a couple of times and I think it's just OK. The food is tasty enough but the prices are quite high, considering what you get. The menu is varied however and there is a good choice.

This cafe has been in Galway for years, and other than redecorating it has never improved. The staff can be very abrupt; the prices are extremely high for Galway, normally its impossible to get a seat. I normally just go in for a quick coffee when meeting someone in Galway, outside the GBC is a common meeting place!
