Two of us just made it in for the early bird and i had the chicken ceasar starter and she had the soup. Both were lovely and our mains of chicken fahijtas and fish bites were lovely. i thought the portion of fish looked a little measly but the diner eating said it was just right. i've had their fahijtas a few times and always find a plate to go with them would be great and also you get two tortillas and enough to fill three. Deserts on the set menu could do with a light option like meringue but that's personal taste. Set menu before 7 is 19.95 for three courses and wine or a soft drink (not sure if beer is an option) but it's great value in a place where the food is consistant and the service attentive. That's my recommendation for the early bird - i know it can be a different place later on when it gets busier

Went here with 4 friends, it was about 9.30 when we got there, we hadn't booked but they were able to seat us after only a few mins wait. It was really busy with a couple of large groups and lots of couple and smaller groups. We each had a starter and main and a bottle of beer. I had the cheese and bacon potato bites to start and the chilli beef nachos (as a main) and it was really lovely, nice and spicy and good sized portions. The only downside was that it was quite warm, even though we were sitting by an open window. The staff were really friendly and efficient. Would definitely go back!

On a miserably wet evening in Galway we decided to avail of the early bird menu at 19.95 for 3 courses plus a drink, there were 4 of us and we were first in. First of all have to say that the booths which we were directed to were obviously designed for supermodels as we found them very small and uncomfortable. starters arrived and were ok, 4 chicken wings com was a bit on the measly side, caesar salad didn't taste as usual was ok and guacamole was good. Mains of enchilladas and fajitas were good, decent sized and tasted good so went down well, I went for the fish bites which comprised of 2 small pieces of battered fish and the batter had a bit of a weird taste. By the amount of bones in the fish at least it was probably fish. Chicken strips were dry and over cooked. Desserts were average. Service was excellent in so far as the waiter/waitresses were attentive, friendly etc. We were hungry so we did eat most of it but would I go back - No.

Recently myself and three female friends went to Cactus Jacks for a Girlie nite out and i have to say i was very disappointed. The Food was very over spiced to hide its mediocre Quality and the portions very small. We were also seated in a very bad area surrounded by large parties. We couldnt hear each other. A bit of advise if you are booking a table and want a quite area ask for the Booths much quiter. Have to say dont think we will be visitin there agin which is very disappointing because it was one of our favourites

Were in Galway for my partners birthday. He loves a good steak so we decided to try Cactus Jacks. While the place looked nice it was cold. The Staff were professional and courteous but the quality of the food let the establishment down. It was bland at best and the steak my partner ordered was 1/4 inedible gristle. The drinks were expensive even by restaurant standards. We didn't stay for dessert or coffee as much as the tequila lime pie looked interesting.

working in galway so good food and good price are important when you are eating out four nights a week!three hungry workers left this establishment FULL! and happy ,we got the early bird menu with starter main and desert for 20 euro including a glass of wine or a soft drink ,the food was of a good standard the staff where helpull and attentive without hovering over you like they do in some restaurants . i,ll be back

My girlfreind and I went to cactus jacks for a meal last week. We ordered the garlic mussles with breadcrumbs and it was absolutely beautiful! :) The main I got chicken fajitas and she got a prawn dish that were ok but a bit bland. The meal came to around 70 with a nice bottle of wine. We were happy enough with the meal espcailly because of the mussels starter but the only thing that ruined it was when we asked for the wine the american/canadian waiter presents the bottle and said 'ill let you do the honours!' so he didnt give us a sample of the wine just showed us the bottle and gave me 'the honour' of pouring my own glass of wine! So unprofessional! :(

I have dined here on many occasions mainly for friends birthday parties, it would not be my first choice as it is quiet expensive for what you get and the food cant be quiet bland... usually the bill will come to over €55 for starter main course and wine if 4 of us are eating there which is quiet expensive for potato skins and fajitas. The only good thing would be the atmosphere as there is always a hen party or birthday party on in there. but if i had the choice i would definately dine somewhere else in Galway where there is better value

We arrived at the restaurant just after 7pm and it was very busy. We didn't have a booking but there were a couple of free tables so we were able to get a table. It looked like there was a hen and a stag party that night so the noise level was quite high. Food was good but as always on the expensive side. Plenty of staff there but they were running around like headless chickens. Would recommend for the food but not for value for money....

There were 9 of us. The table was supposed to be for 8pm but they called us a couple of times to say it would be another 15 mins so we didnt sit until just after 8.30pm. The food was nice- calamari and the tequlia and lime cheesecake were good. Had a very average chicken dish for main. The service was bad. We didnt get our wine until just before the main course arrived.Waited ages for some water we had about 5-6 waitresses who were all a bit confused. They included service which I know is standard for a table of 9 but on the bill it just said sub total 230 euro O 23 euro Total 253 euro When did O become the symbol for Service charge??Purposly misleading? I think so.

Good Food, big portions. I havent had a bad meal in there yet. Its just too pricey. Over €9 for a mojito. These guys still think its 2007, the number of empty tables showed it. Its a pity because it has great athmosphere when busy. I guess I will continue with my love hate relationship and start saving for my next visit.

Arrived one min before the early bird was due to finish and were accomodated. Very pleasant helpful staff. Wasnt all that impressed with the food. Had chicken wings to start which were fine, burger was just average, nothing special. The chocolate cake for dessert was lovely though. Husband thought the fish goujons were very bland as were the chunky chips.

Folks, Plain and simple this place is woeful.. I used to love it I had eaten here 3/4 times but the last time was awful. I ordered chicken enchilada's and I got Veg( which was fresh) in a tortilla wrap and a bit of salsa and cheese on top. NO SPICES. I just hope they have not tried to cost cut by buying cheap tasteless spices as I am sure the chef could not have forgotten to put in the spices. I would be reluctant to go back although the starter was nice. (Nachos) My wife had a Veggie Burrito and she was really disappointed as she felt there was no flavour and that the refried beans were not refried they were just Kidney beans out of a tin and the the Mexican rice was actually saffron rice again none of the spice that makes boiled rice into Mexican rice. Its really disappointing as this used to be a a nice restaurant.

i went with a large group here, service was good, i wasn't very impressed with the food though, but that could have partially been because i am allergic to wheat and there was only one thing i could eat on the menu.

This place seems to have gone a bit downhill recently and slightly overpriced for tex mex! I find the dublin tallaght restaurant to be of a much higher standard though prices are still very high!

Disappointing! Food was very poor and there was meat in the veggie option. Our waiter was lovely and probably the best I have come across in a while - but that is the only positive I have for here. And very over priced!

Visited with small group, Food was ok, I got the Vegetarian Tacos. They were OK, but not amazing. There isnt a huge amount of veggie options, but i see that a previous reviewer has said that you can order any of the mains without the meat. If i go back again, i might do this. Service was really good and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. Id visit again.

Visited with a large group. The set menu for us had no vegetarian main course so I was a bit confused as to what to do. I was mid-conversation with the person next to me when the waitress poked me quite hard in the arm and said she needed to take my order. I said 'do you mind, I'm just speaking to someone for a second.' She just gave me a look. I asked her what the vegetarian options were and she said I could have any starter as a main course. There was only one vegetarian starter so I said, what would I have for mains, and again she said I could have whatever I liked. She said it very gumpily though. I said, well whatever they can do that's vegetarian. Then she said that any of the meals could be made vegetarian, with no explanation as to how! Would it not just have been a lot easier if they had put vegetarian options on the menu!? Anyway, the food was fine, except that I found a piece of ham in my "vegetarian" potato skins. I didn't complain as I didn't want grumpy waitress to have a fit. The main course was nice but nothing great. No spicyness at all. The best thing about this restaurant was the cocktails. Could not fault them. Well, I won't go back there in a hurry but wouldn't say no if I had to go again.

I've had the fajitas here a few times and this was the first time I've been a bit disappointed... A big sizzling plate of food, but unfortunately not much meat! I had to root around to find the prawns. The rest of the meal was good and the service was friendly.

A group of ten of us eat here during race week, this could explain for the delay in being seated, food coming etc. Overall we all enjoyed our food and our night, lovely cocktails. I had the combo fajitas, these were ok, very dry thou! others had the enchiladas and chicken fajitas, the enchiladas went down very well. Would try again but perhaps not on race week!

Got in before our time. Just as well, very busy, people queuing. Large group hadn't gone by alloted time therefore others had to wait outside. Food was only ok. Value for money wasn't bad as prices go these days.

It was a busy evening and a number of groups had booked tables. However, the previous people were still eating at the tables so a large number of people had to wait. There was no waiting area and this caused problems. The chicken in the Enchiladas and Fajitas was quite dry. there was a difference in different servings of the Fajitas, so it seemed servings are inconsistent. I thought the cost of the side salad wasn't good value.

Like it's Dublin counterpart, I adore this restaurant. Went here recently with two friends and although we hadn't booked and the place was busy, they found us a table within 5 minutes, with the really friendly hostess chatting to us all the time while we waited. Service is second to none and food is fantastic. Would definitely recommend it.

We went in here mid week; it wasn't very busy, still very enjoyable place to be. Was a little disappointed with my mains I got king prawn fajitas there was on 7 prawns and it was very greasy, I did complain to staff to no avail, my husband got a burger and said it was fab, but not to sure if I would go back again.

We were here on the Saturday night of the Easter weekend there was four or us. I was disappointed because I love the one in Tallaght and I heard this one was far better. I had nachos to start they were okay the portion alot smaller than I expected and not enough dips and cheese on them. We ordered a pitcher of cocktail and when we got the bill they had charged us for the pitcher and the price of another cocktail we didn't bother saying anything we just want to leave. The service was good and the meal was okay don't think I would go back again the next time we are in Galway.

I went to Cactus Jacks with a group of friends and we were a little disappointed. It was very quiet, but then it was midweek so maybe that's why. But as it was so quiet service should have been better as there were plenty of staff there but they weren't great. Restaurant had run out of jalapenos! And maybe cheese too as there was none on nachos as described on menu. Food was ok, pretty bland. Desserts were nice though. Overall it's ok.

Cactus jacks is always a winner! a great place to eat with friends or family. I ate here last Friday with my parents and we got such great value for money as portions are huge! My dad couldn't finish his burger and likewise I struggled with my prawn fajitas which were lovely. Staff were very courteous and helpful. We were placed in the inner dining room but my parents were getting a bit of a headache as a large group came along and were very loud...so much so that it was very difficult to talk. When we asked to move to a quieter area of the restaurant it was no problem and the service was excellent. Cactus Jacks is always a very buzzy, noisy place so that might be a problem for some older customers. Otherwise everything was great and it still remains a firm favourite for my friends and I.

I'm a regular here for years. Never been disappointed. Service is always friendly and efficient. Best to book at weekend’s coz always busy. The chicken wings as starter or main course are fab. In the main courses I usually order the Cajun Salmon or the Beef Enchilada. Both extremely tasty. Great atmosphere and great value too. Enjoy!!

Best of all the Cactus Jacks. I think this the original one. Nice menu, fun interior, friendly staff and fairly priced. Their fajitas are the business.
