Was working in Galway for a few weeks and was passing by one day at lunchtime. The bar was fairly busy and a full carvery in place plus a menu of sandwiches and starters to order from. Service was good but at 8 euro for a wrap it was little dear for vegetables. Plenty of parking and you don't have to pay so that is good in Galway

last time i was here,a long time ago they had an organic menu...and there food was really good for lunch..

This place is good for a bite to eat/ lunch. They do a great value deal of a toasted sandwich with cheese/tomato/onion served with chips and salad for €4.95, if you want ham it is €5.95 (called the kingsvalley special). It is definetly very filling. The only thing is the staff are very slow we waited over 20minutes for someone to take our order, so don't go in a rush. It is no culinary delight, the carvery is pretty standard, good selection but the fish can be dried out if you come a little later in the afternoon. In essence what brings me back is the good value, lunch for under a €5 is pretty hard to come by these days, and a filling one at that. So I would say if your passing and feeling hungry drop by as it is very relaxing with big couches etc :)

Stayed in this hotel over New Year's and had two meals here, lunch and dinner. The first thing I will say is that service is painfully slow! We were waiting about 20 mins in an almost empty bar/restaurant before we could place our order! But then once we'd ordered the food didn't take too long to appear, but we had to go looking for someone to get more drinks, ketchup, etc. Anyway for dinner there were 4 of us and we shared the platter for 2 to start which was nice, good selection on it. I had the steak with pepper sauce for my main which was was more rare than I would have liked but the pepper sauce was lovely. Lunch the next day was more successful, even slower service (I actually resorted to buying crisps from the vending machine so we didn't die of starvation while we waited!) but lovely sambos and you get loads of chips with them. I probably would go back because the hotel was great value but if I wasn't staying there I wouldn't be rushing there for the food!

i work close to hear and have had lunch here alot, it is great, the carvery is the same as most places, they also have a menu with soup and sandwiches and things like that, i love this place! you would pay about ten euro for an average dinner/sandwich and a drink

I love this place for lunch, i love the fact that you can ask for any amount of extra veg or potatoe if you wish or you can have a half portion if you are not too hungry, which still amounts to a huge portion of meat, veg and potatoe for lunch. Staff are great and welcoming, very relaxed attmosphere, sit by the fire if you are cold or up on the balcony if you want a view. Would eat time and time again.

Bodkins is a lovely place to visit and has a lovely atmosphere but the evening I went here with a friend the service was terrible! We were looking for a quick bite to eat but this was not happening! Having said that the food was good when it did arrive and we were happy with it in the end, but the long wait wouldn’t encourage me to rush back!
