I have to say for a pub the food is delicious. They do the best chicken caesar salad I have ever had. The kids eat free weekdays making it very good value for families. And the staff are very friendly and helpful.

I've been here quite a few times and have never been disapointed. The food is lovely, the staff are very friendly and great value for money. Kids eat free with every main meal mid week, which is even better. Overall, great place for pub grub. I will definitely come back.

myself and my husban ate here on sunday for some lunch and i have to say the food was fab.. they have changed there menu a few weeks ago and the choice was great.. The food was sooo good with good portions.. will defo be eating here again

A bit of a rough diamond this one. The pub is the pits but the food is really excellent. I have eaten here several times and have been really impressed every time. If you can look past the facade, the grumpy waitresses and the chewed up menus you will have a great meal that is very good value for money

I love this pub for food I have never been here and been disappointed . The kids love it too. The staff are very friendly too . My favourite is the spaghetti with cajun chicken . Would recommend this pub for Lunch or Dinner.

Love the speaker, come here alot for food and drinks. Food is always very tasty but service can be a bit slack and waitress' not overly friendly! The only thing ive noticed lately is they seem to have a bit of a problem with flies in the pub! Not very appetising when your trying to eat!! Sort out the flies and the atmosphere would be much better!!

Good pub grub. We frequent during the week if late home from work or too lazy to cook. Food is good quality, would recommend the salads, paté, chicken goujons. Steaks and burgers are good too. The battered fish is always tasty and the lasagne is exceptional. sometimes the food can have a deep fried feel to it, all chips and wedges on the side. Wish they had kept the baked potatoes on the menu. Overall the speaker is good honest traditional food, you won't go far wrong. It won't set the world on fire but it is nice pub grub and the staff are friendly. Love tyhe bar men!! we eat here often

Great pub grub - go here about once every two months when I come up to stay with my cousin who lives over the road. Nothing to look at from outside but great food. Had a fab spagetti with mussels a lunchtime special, relaxed atmosphere- can bring the kids or leave them at home whichever you prefer. Looking forward to my next visit again!!!!

This place is really great. I'm from Firhouse but never thought of going here for food until I heard recommendations from friends. I'ts REALLY good value for money. I've had the chicken wings starter, the fajitas and a pizza. The fajitas were served with wedges and presentation was lovely. Pizza came with chips and 3 decent sized delicious dips. So perfect for a casual lunch or hangover fix!

Went here today withy partner and well well well wasn't it a surprise. The actual pub itself is well used and a bit rough around the edges. If you are simply looking for some tasty food and not worried about a grumpy waitress then come here. I had a chnese Chicken curry and i must say it was delicious. Came with rice and chips and was beautifully spiced. My partner had chicken wings and thought they were very nice also. I'll definately go back for a quick bite again.

Worst waitress award i feel goes to this place- i've eaten here a few times and always found the food to be really good and great value for money,they do pizza which pleases my teenage son, true the place needs a bit of a do up but they have totally re-done the toilets so thats a start, unfortunatly what the reviews say about the staff can be true, i was there 3days ago and the waitress that served us was fine but there was another one that looked at me with disdain when i asked for ice-cream for my niece and told me before i got a chance to say anything that she wasn't taken any more food orders, she then took my drink off the table before i'd finished it and glared at me as she went !! with staff like this they'll be out of customers soon enough and wont have to worry about doing place up.

This pub serves lovely food. The place isn't much to look at and really needs some updating, but the food makes up for this. Some dishes seem to be quite pricey but are worth the money. The smaller dishes like the wedges with dips and the soup are great value for money and are very tasty. The bar staff are excellent but sometimes the waitresses aren't too polite but that could be because it's always really busy - I've even seen the place packed out on a Tuesday night with diners. I live round the corner from this pub so hope to go there a lot more now!

The food here as said by other reviewers is lovely for pub food.When I have visited the Speaker I have always found the staff very nice and service prompt.The place seems to be in need of brightening up though.I think it is very drab but others would say it has a dirty look.Would recommend anyway as food is always tasty and well presented and portions are very generous.

The food here is delicious and very tasty. Its a bit pricey for pub grub but I don't mind paying for it when I get a nice meal. The place itself is a bit dirty which can be a bit off putting but the food is so nice that I keep going back.

I eat here every so often, the food here is of great quality with decent variety on the menu to cater for most. Food is lovely presented, perfect portions too. Always served hot, sides salads fresh. Service good and friendly. Great place for evening grub. Would recommend it and have done!

Was here recently with a friend for lunch. My friend had prawns which she said were delicious. I had a chicken bap which there was both eating and drinking in it. It was gorgeous. Toilets crap, atmosphere alright, its a pub what does one expect. Do a lovely latte, but waitresses have a lot of working to do on the smile and friendly factor.

Found this place very good - a nice twist on pub grub as it was much better quality than what you would get anywhere else in this genre of food. The chef seems to be adventurous and the food is well presented. Our waitress was friendly and fast, and the place wasn't as busy as on a Friday afternoon. Specials seem to be good and the lasagna with baked potato was also very good. Would call again if in the area.

Prepare to be ignored until you lock eyes with a waitress and then be prepared to wait another 10-15 minutes. The food is good but not a lot of choice. The weekends are definitely not a time for a quiet lunch because it is always packed.

The food in this pub is good, but overpriced. The staff are rude and the place is filthy. There is food on the floors and the towels are always on the ground in the toilets.

If you are a couple with not a lot of money go here and have the best meal ever at great prices. I regularly eat here but it’s better during the week. Sat/Sun very crowded.

This is the best restaurant food served in a pub. You could not get any better value, service or presentation in the most expensive restaurant. The only problem I have is getting a table.

Pub grub meets good Restaurant. Nice variety in food, great for watching a game & a bit to eat but can be creche-like at the weekends with all the kids. Otherwise, hard to fault.

This is my local and am only delighted to have the opportunity to rave about it. Being just beside us me and my partner frequent this place at least once a week for dinner. The food is absolutely spot on, great value and definitely restaurant quality. Best steak sandwich I've ever had - Ciabatta Bread, melt in the mouth Steak with BBQ sauce and cheese. Their burgers are also to-die for. Their specials are always worth a go as well. Not your run-of-the-mill pub grub - excellent!! Service is always very friendly and prompt. They do get slightly swamped on a Sunday so get there early !! Good local pub with the best food.... Go visit !

I visited this pub on the advice of a friend and I will be becoming a regular, the food is amazing all waitress service at your table (who wants carvery these days) its off a restaurant standard in a friendly local pub atmosphere we stayed around for the live music after our meal and had a great night.
