A large group of us (15 adults & 10 children) went for my nieces birthday. There was a really good atmosphere. The waitress was lovely, but the food was a while coming out and when it did it was all over the place. I got fillet steak and the baked potato came about 10 mins later! Lots of other mix ups. This was probably because of the large group. However the food was lovely all the same.

Went here for a family meal on a friday evening.Waited on a table for about 20 minutes. Food was really nice, service was excellent. They don't rush you which is also a bonus. Great deals on as well but even without the deals its great value for money. Good sized portions portions and the kids were happy with their choice of menu which included ice cream. Overall will definitely come back, very family orientated and casual so if you are looking for a romantic or quiet meal I wouldnt advise coming here.

Went here as a guest at a christening with about 20 other people. The service was very good as was the food and it is always good value here, However, we brought a christening cake for the occasion but were told by the manager that it could not be consumed on the premises as we had not purchased it from Joels. i thought this was rude and ignorant on the managers part as we had already spent apporx €600 on the table. To say this to a party of that size was idotic and has left a sour taste in my mouth. I will think twice about returning here and would not recommend it as a party venue as it is obvious that joels put profit before customer satisfaction.

Stayed recently in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, which is adjacent to Joel's Restaurant. There is plenty of parking around the restaurant. We hadn't a reservation, so we were told to wait but it was only a very short wait of not even 5 minutes. Service was very prompt and friendly. I ordered Garlic Mushrooms for starter, my husband ordered Nachos - both delicious and came very quickly. Main course - I ordered Chicken Enchilladas and my husband ordered Pasta. His pasta was VERY spicy but tasty. The only BAD thing I'd have to say about Joel's is that the portions of chips are tiny. Chips came as apart of my meal but didn't come with my husbands so he ordered an extra portion. Both portions that came, were on a timy plate like a saucer and had about 8 chips on them! But apart from that, I really enjoyed my trip to Joels and will go back again when I am in the area.

My family and I used to go here often for special treats, and upon my return after a few years I have to wonder if we had been starved of food or public outings! I went with my boyfriend and we had to wait, which was no problem, so I had a cocktail which was great value for the money. then when we ordered I had the garlic mushrooms, which were tasty but it was a tiny portion. Then for mains i had Pasta which wasn't particularly outstanding, and my boyfriend had the lamb shanks. He complained his portion was too small aswell. We didn't bother with desert and both of us left feeling a little disappointed, especially after my rave reviews! not what it used to be and definitely not worth the money, very disappointed!

Atmosphere the main talking about...Went for a family dinner, a large party so we were put in the middle of the floor, there was no problem with this its were all the large partys go but when another party of people with kids come and sit behind you and there kids start running around and throwing food all over the table and floor and have been told by the managment several times to sit down and stop throwing food while the parents are sitting drinking its was the last straw when one of the kids throw some soup from his bowl over one of the members of my party we up'ed and left leaving half of our main couse the managment were nice to us after we complained

I go back here time and time again this place is a real winner in every respect, good food great service, real buzz about the place and not over the top on price...my only gripe would be their wine per glass is expensive but this is greatly over shadowed by all the other great things. Will be back again and again......

Went here for a cheap girly dinner on a Tuesday night and I dont think I would ever be going back!! Although food was very cheap it sadly wasnt very cheeful : ( I got garlic mushrooms for starters which were all shrivelled up, chicken kiev and savoury mash for my main which was also quiet dry and the mash was lumpy and pavlova for dessert, which was mainly cream accompanied with a tiny bit of meringue and a few strawberries on the side! But on a positive note the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was very lively, its just a pity about the reheated food!!!

I ate here last night with one of the girls and we had no reservation but got a seat no problem We opted for the early bird so I had garlic mushrooms to start, turkey and ham for main and apple pie for dessert and followed by tea or coffee My garlic mushrooms were served in a cereal bowl with some garlic mayo on the side, I though it was a little odd and that perhaps to serve them on a side plate would have looked more attractive with perhaps a little side salad but none the less they were tasty. There was quite a wait between our starter and main which was a little disappointing I thought, but when I got it I could not fault it, very nice and tasty and the apple pie was yummy. All in all the early bird was €19.95 which I thought was a super deal of the amount of food we had and the quality. Nice place for a bit of food but I wouldn’t say its for special occasions.. Just for a casual bite

We have being to joels for years we have two children in wheelchairs and this place suits our family needs.Apart from the front doors everything else is perfect. The staff are very friendly and are always there to help with the children. The staff hold the doors open for us going in and going out.The food is really good and there is always plenty of food on each plate. We love going there and our children feel really welcome by all the staff. You would know it is a great place to work because all the staff seem to get on great together. One thing i love about the place is the staff are always in good form.We where just there today 16/7 2011. and we had a lovely time food was fab and staff where brilliant.

Wanted a nice relaxing meal and had enjoyed a meal at Joels before, so decided to stop by. Unfortunately, it was really disappointing this time round. There were a couple of tears in the seats that we were led to, so we asked to be moved. The service was incredibly slow and it took a long time to get the waiters' attention to order our meal and to get the bill at the end. The food itself was only ok, was not impressed. Don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.

We ate here last Sat and had the turkey and ham, Which was very overpriced the ham was like rubber both the veg and potatoes were dried out as if they were under a heatlamp for too long. I had the nachos which was tiny and had only one Jalopeno pepper. I didnt bother complaining as the waiting staff didnt seem to be bothered and just served up the meals with not so much as smile or a hello! So overpriced and not good quality to justify the price, maybe Joels are not aware of the recession long may it continue for them.as its a buyers market!!

Nice big restaurant, would be great for girls/boys night out but not one for a romantic meal. Busy atmosphere and always seems to be pretty full. The menu is quite good value. There is a €10 menu with a wide variety of dishes from pasta, burgers, steak sandwich etc. I went for the Cheese burger which was a substantial meal. The burger was thick and home made with fresh salad and cheese. It came with a small bowl of home made chips. Good pub grub style food and good value.

We stopped here aroung 5.30 thinking that the rush would be over, on entering we were overcome with the noise, I could easily have turned around and left but partner said we would give it a try. Between us we had nachos, crab salad and crispy chicken strips, the food was tasty and the service was good, but with people waiting for tables it is not the type of place where you could dilly dally unless you had a meal or drink in front of you. I personally felt like I was in a large school dining hall, it is too big and impersonal for me. On saying that there were plenty of families and lots of children who seemed to be enjoying themselves. Good for families but definately not the place if you want a nice relaxing meal..

I had high expectations of Joels as my brother loves the place, and is a regular visitor. I was most impressed. We went last night. The restaurant itself is absolutely huge. I had a regular portion of nachos for starter. Heaven. They had cheese and chilli beef on them, as well as kidney beans and sweetcorn. They were delicious. My main course was medallions of beef. It was two portions of something akin to fillet mignon with two sauces - peppercorn and mushroom. My wife had chicken kiev. It was two huge chicken breasts in breadcrumbs, swimming in garlic butter. I had a taste and they were lovely. We both had a chocolate and marshmallow ice cream sundae for dessert. Delicious. The waiting staff were attentive and efficient. A minor gripe was that I ordered a glass of club orange but got a pint of rock shandy by accident. However I was charged for the former, so no harm ! The food was a bit on the pricey side. Might have to go early bird next time. I will be back to Joels I reckon. The food was excellent and we loved the atmosphere and the service

I was here with my boyfriend twice and both times we had a lovely meal. We got the fillet steak the last time it came with chunky chips and it tasted delicious, would really recommend it. The service is great most of the time, just the last time we were there the waiter forgot our water and drinks and we were already eating our starters before we got them. The atmosphere is good. Its very casual, a lot of groups and birthdays happening around us. There is also a function room if u want a private party. Would definitely recommend Joels. :)

Visited here with 8 others for the girls nite out menu @ 19.95 which includes starter, main, mini dessert platter and a glass of fizzy wine and live music. We had a wonderful time, food was excellent as usual and service was very good. When we finished meal, we asked if we could be moved nearer the singer and we were accommodated even though this meant going to a table which had been set for the morning. Great value, great atmosphere. Will be back.

I visited Joels yesterday for lunch with family and friends. I have been a customer of Joels for more than 15 years as i work in the area, but, i havent been there for awhile. I wasnt very impressed either. Service was dreadfully slow, no atmosphere in the place, and the food was only okay. The men in the group were not safisfied with the amount of food that they got. It will be a long time before i return here again.

My girlfriend and I went here on a Tuesday evening round 4:30, no problems getting a seat. It was the first time either of us had been here but had heard good things. My girlfriend had the Bruchetta and she loved it. I had the spicy wings, they were nice but not that spicy. My girlfriend ordered Lasagne and chips for her mains, she was very impressed. I oredered the ribs and chicken, be warned, you really have to be hungry for this one, it was a very generous portion which i was unable to finish. Neither of us had a desert because we simply didn't have room for more food. All in all, we both were very impressed with every aspect, will definitely be back and we will be bringing friends with us next time.

I absolutley LOVE Joel's... The food is delicious. The staff are very friendly and will do their best to to accomadate your requests. And the price.. well.. Its very very reasonable.. Can be a bit of a nightmare to get in to it depending on what your travelling but that would be my only complaint.. But dont pay much attention to the menu on here.. As its really old!! Some items are still on there but not all.. Definitley reccomend a visit to Joel's.. And you will return once you've been!!

Joels is a great restaurant for a sunday dinner, girly night or birthday celebration but would not suit those looking for a romantic evening as there are generally a lot of children there. Food is fantastic, proper comfort food I would particularly recommend the enchilada and the lasagne but everything is great. They do lovely cocktails if your there for a girly night and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. I don't think I will ever tire of this restaurant!

lunch menu during the weekday is excellent and very cheap so i decided to try it at the weekend, hugely disappointed, had chicken satay that was like chicken in a greasy stew, partner had sea bass that was very bland, i was so dissapointed as the weekday lunchs are yum, wont be back at the weekends im afraid, way overpriced and badly presented

Visited on a Sunday afternoon as a party of 2 adults and 2 children. The atmosphere and service were fantastic, it's very child-friendly, and the range of foods on both the regular and kid's menus is very broad. The food was just ok in my opinion. A lot of it seemed quite greasy. I had salmon and boiled veg and it was quite nice, but nothing special really. I thought it was quite pricey for what it was. Having said that, the portions are huge, and I imagine that it's impossible to leave Joels without feeling full. I love the atmosphere there and that would be the main reason I would go back - I find it feels like a real occasion to go to Joels!

I'll concede that its exact location can be difficult, as getting the Luas means walking a bit of distance. But overall im very pleased with my night. Its even better if you have a car!!...

Joels is big and usually very busy but it is Not the most comfortable or intimate restaurant. The staff are very friendly but the food is just ok, everything is deep fried and kind of, all tastes the same. I hate all the flyers/advertising flyers on the tables it makes it feel tacky. Price is reasonable and you will be full but the food is nearly like fast food. Wont be back

4 of us visited Joels for dinner on a Saturday evening. On arrival, we were advised we would be waiting around 30 mins for a table, however we were called in around 5 mins. Service was excellent, quick, polite & friendly. Food was beautiful, nothing to complain about, excellent portions, asked for extra gravy which was brought immediately. Great range of range on menu. Will definitely visit again - great value for money too.

Went here on Friday evening for the first time with a group of friends as we heard there was a special offer of €20 for a the early bird three course meal. We had booked our table and had time for a drink before being seated, table was a bit overcrowded but nevertheless we survived We were looked after by very friendly and efficient staff who took our order and delivered it promptly. Excellent value for money with generous size portions. Also we were given a fee goody bag each with some samples of mascara face cream etc. Also a free cosmopolitan each, a nice touch by all accounts. Would recommend and will be back.

used to always go to this restaurants as kids. and remember it being alot nicer . have been every couple of years in recent times always willing to give it a new shot - but it just doesnt seem to be improving. granted the menu has gotten alot cheaper - but the quality of the food has gone with it too. i would usually go for a chicken kiev - or chicken mary land - which are pretty standard meals - a good dinner when cooked well - but not overly complicated. portions are always big. on my recent trip i decided id try something different - the duck - what made me do this i dont know - but possibly the worst thing ive ever tasted - would recommend joels - is very family friendly - but know what to expect - and at the price you pay you wont mind. but try not to venture too far on the menu.

I go to Joels quite a bit and its ok, They changed their menu which is better than it used to be, I always find that their portion sizes are huge, and as someone who is watching their weight that can be bad, that said my boyfriend who loves his food can never clear the plate. They do the most amazing chocolate brownie that isn't on the menu, you have to ask the waiter for it as it is so popular but if you're going to have that I suggest you skip starters!

ive have just come home from here with my partner and son.myself and my partner had chicken wings between us which was 6 chicken wings no even side salad very basic.then my son had kids roast beef for €8.10 which consisted of the thinnest slice of roast beef 2 small lumps of mash and 1 yorkshire pudding.as surprising as it sounds my 10yr old asks "is there no veg mam"not even carrots on plate.now for the good part ,my meal.i ordered carbanara..it came like dry bowl of pasta wit (which i counted)3 pices of bacon in it plus dry sauce.i asked for extra sauce which was lumpy and didnt even taste like carbanara sauce.thats when i gave up.i called manager she said herself it didnt look right and my meal wouldnt be charged for..too right.never ever will i go back again.so save your money.go elsewhere.

I have passed this place thousands of times decided to pull in one evening and let the traffic go. It is very big and lacked atmosphere, the décor was a bit glary. But it is what it is fast food done well. I had chicken wings very good and a pasta dish which was ok. and a coffee as all dishes came very quickly and the traffic was still there so I sat for a while over the coffee. It would not be my choice for a celebration or romantic evening, or even a night out but certainly can offer a quick and tasty bite.

Went her for a quick bite to eat an a ca5tch up with my friend. Great value, when we got there, there was actually 20 mains for €10, and on mondays all starters are only €5. we got nachos as wings to share an they were super tasty. then we both got two different pasta dishes for mains. i got chicken an chorizo i was a bit disappointed as i felt the chicken was dry from being over cooked an the chorizo wasn't as flavoured as id expect. Our waiter was friendly an helpful though. Will go back but will order something different next time.

Haven't been here for about 6 years and couldn't believe the change - the choice on the menu was fantastic, as was the food, service, value for money and atmosphere. Place was jammers at lunchtime today. Defo somewhere I'll be returning to and will spread the good word amongst my friends. I did fill in the comment card and recommended that they update their website as it definitely doesn't do the restaurant any justice.

Absolutely love this restaurant, i stay in the Louis Hotel with business and always look forward to a meal here!! The menu in Joels has a huge selections of everyones favourites... The menu is extremely resonably priced and the food is excellent. Most recently i went on the new "ladies night" and had a 3 course meal for 19.95...and that includes a free coctail of your choice. The atmosphere is lovely also and the staff are efficient and friendly. Highly recommend to go here if you want a delicious meal but dont have alot of money. 5/5 stars!

Excellent value for money. I have been here a few times and the food is always good. This time they had a midweek deal on. Any starter fo €5.00 and a choice of 20 mains for only €10.00 each! The portions where generous, i had no complaints with the food at all. The atmosphere was not very lively but the staff where very helpful and service was quick.

Myself and my boyfriend came here for lunch on Saturday for the first time, We were seated immediately, the staff were generally friendly. The garlic bread starter was possibly the best I've had, I had chicken Kiev for mains which was also delicious and also dessert. The bill was very reasonable and the atmosphere was lively and cosy. Look forward to returning for evening dinner. Only downside, It could sometimes take a while to get somebody's attention for bill etc.

I went here in Dec, they had a huge crowd in for christmas parties and gave us seats out the side. There was a really good festive atmosphere going. we ordered turkey&ham and lamb shank. she said the sank was very tasty, but I didn't notice any thing special about it when I tasted it. The turkey was fine but the ham was tasteless processed muck, which I left. I suppose poorer cuts of ham are used to keep the cost of a christmas dinner down. I would recommend our 2 starters of chicken wings and garlic mushrooms. I will eat here again, its location is a big plus.

Possibly the most nostalgic menu I have come across in a while.. If you were a fan of the Swiss Chalet in Stillorgan back in the 80s this is the place for you.. Great atmosphere and family friendly but I have never brought kids here.. just me and Mr Man! The fillet steaks are delicious and cooked to perfection.. I love coming here for the roast dinners as well... make sure you have the profiteroles for dessert! The only time to steer clear of this restaurant is around the Communion and Confirmation times as this place is hugely popular and you might be left waiting for a table... apart from that, well worth a visit for a hearty no fuss meal!

Visited here while staying in the adjacent hotel "The Louis Fitzgerald." I have to say, this restaurant is highly recommended by myself and most others that have eaten here. Food is exquisite, extremely tasty too. Compliments to the chefs that were there on our visit, as it was truly a great dining experience. The experience in the restaurant was also great, very busy BUT not closely packed together either, spaced and well decorated. Vibrant, Modern and Spacious is how I could describe the interior. Truly a great restaurant, a must visit if in the Dublin 22/24 Area. - Patrick.

I heard bad comments about this place, aso was reluctant to go, but howandever, i went. And it was quite good! I had the chicken wings for starters, which were lovely, but there was no dip! madness! Then has the king prawns in chilli and garlic. They were HUGE! not exagerating, they were massive, and lovely! id go back just for them! Atmosphere was crap. they put everyone in the windows, which made it look busy. lights are far far too bright!!! no music! But the prawns were only 16e for a huge bowl of them, so id definately go back!

No complaints about the service or the atmosphere- it's a nice restaurant! The food was mediocre at best. I had a rather bland lasagne and my friend didn't seem to be in love with her chicken salad either... little bit expensive for average stuff.

I had dinner here with 2 friends last week and we shared a bowl of chicken wings for starter, they were very tasty! We weren't finished when our mains came out and considering there was 3 of us eating a starter for one person we couldn't have been very long eating! So we weren't overy impressed with that. I had the steak sandwich, the others had lasagne and chicken noodles. They were all tasty enough.

Myself and my partner find here good for a quick bite after a hard day at work. Food is not amazing but good and plain. Service is always fast and friendly. It is very big and usually has big parties celebrating family or business events. It is what it is fast food done well. It would not be my choice for a celebration or romantic evening, but certainly can offer a quick and tasty bite.

visited this place a couple of weeks ago and was plesantly suprised.our last visit over two years ago was not good so we were a bit wary of returning.we started with garlic bread with cheese which for what it is was expensive and also shared garlic mushrooms.i had the chicken kiev and he tried the oriental duck.food is ok but nothing special.onion rings and garlic mushrooms straight from the freezer.soup tastes the exact same for the last five years which leads me to believe its also bought in.srevice was good and didnt wait long for anything.overall i would not go for a special occasion but would be somewhere for a quick meal if nowhere else comes to mind

There is a very varied menu and the Sunday Lunch early offer (available from 12 00 to 14 00) was particularly good value. There were seven in our party, including one child, and the service was good. Portions were perhaps too generous as some of us couldnt finish the main course! Will definitely come back.

Visited here on Saturday night , group of 8 people. Never been before and was pleasantly surprised. The food was delivered quickly and was absolutely lovely for the prices you pay.. couldnt believe it was so cheap. Our waitress was really friendly and on the ball without being overbearing.. left us to it but when we needed anything appeared like magic. We had 3 courses each. ranging from steak to fish to duck with drinks, (alcoholic and non) on top and the bill came to well below €300.. absolute bargain. If ur looking for a relaxed fun atmosphere for a group of friends/family Id recommend it.. saw lots of couples on group dates also as the seats by the windows with the lamps are lovely. Believe they also do some good deals on a Sunday so i'll be back for sure. Spacious carpark too and can leave car overnight so handy for a few tipples.

Went to Joels for Sunday dinner this evening. While the waiter was very efficient and friendly the food was only ok. We had starters main and desserts. I was very disappointed with the knickerbockerglory. I had asked the waiter before I ordered it, however it was only jelly and ice cream. Such a shame the good old traditional dessert has been ruined .

went for a confirmation there was 9 of us, i love the menu as there is so much to choose . i do think you get value but as there was only 2 of us having wine and the rest was minerals we felt it made the bill very pricey as the soft drinks are so expensive, the athmosphere was not great as it was early in the day and the restaurant was quite, but overall i like joels and will eat there again

Went to Joels for a quick lunch. We noticed that there was a special which included a main course and desert for €10. I think you either love Joels or you hate it. I would be the latter. Although it is great for fussy eaters and child friendly it really is just fairly average. It has such a large menu that it doesn't seem to do any of it particularly well and as for the atmoshere, it is just way to big to create any sort of mood. It is just too loud and busy for me!

Recently we were looking for a late lunch/early dinner around the Tallaght area and decided to try Joels. We were both agreeably surprised as we had been there a few years ago and were disappointed but not on this visit. The meal was tasty and very good value, I also liked the choice of a small or large glass of wine – the service was friendly and efficient and despite being late afternoon the atmosphere was pleasant. We will definitely be back.

I find Joels to be average. I've been there several times now, and must say the food is only ok. While you're eating it you just taste reheated food and poor flavours. Joels menu is way too varied that you just feel that the restaurant is a jack-of-all-trades, because it's the master of none in my opinion. On the positive side the cocktails are lovely, and the restaurant has a nice family friendly atmosphere. I won't be back.

This was my first visit to Joels in quite a long time - had become tired of the menu, which had remained the same for years (or so it seemed). Was pleasantly surprised with the changes - we were seated almost immediately, despite it being such a busy time of year, so close to Christmas and all that. The place was buzzing with people, we were served quickly - all our meals were very good. It's great to see that they supply crayons and colouring paper for the kids - bonus points to Joels for that! Portions were very generous and the meal was good value for money. Will go back for another visit soon to see if they keep up the standard.

Good food, service is ok. Sometimes staff can be a bit too attentive - asked a few times during the main course was everything ok? Just got a tad annoying. Great value for money. Can recommend the aromatic duck with noodles or the chicken kievs!!!

5 of us for lunch. It was practially empty so not atmosphere - but it's so big not unexpected. Food was fine - reasonable price. My one HUGE issue was a cappachino for €2.80. This turned out to be normally filtered coffee - dish water with froated milk on top - total ripoff.

Have been to this place numerous times. Food is good, staff are pleasant. Had to send my wine back on a few occasions as it tasted like it has been sitting out for days and was completely tasteless. I would recommend getting a bottle and watch them open it at your table. Another downfall is that you cant book but overall it is a nice place to eat.

Eat here regularly on the spur of the moment. Always reliable for good food and decent service. Waiting times can sometimes be a problem, especially at weekends when the families with kids are out in force! Can be very noisy between 17.00 and 19.00 hrs, with kids running around.

Recommended by friends i decided to pop in on the way home from Kildare. I was impressed straight away withthe paging service used to let you know your table is ready. Food was excellent and staff efficient and friendly. Great kids menu too and i also loved the booth like tables which gave a sense of privacy but not enclosed. I would recommend 100 %

Second chance for this place due to handy parking on a rainy day. Unfortunetely difficult to recommend. The food is poor. Although it's not an expensive place i expect more quality for average of 15euro for a main course.65euro for two people excluding any alcohol isn't very cheap either.BBQ sauce on the wings were overpowering, the enchiladas were tasty and the chocolate heaven dessert was fine but nothing special

While the portions are large for the price you pay, the food can be quite greasy (and I have a cast iron stomach). For the most part though, it's acceptable. The service varies considerably. The left hand doesn't always know what the right hand is doing so it can be quite disorganised at times. Previous reviewers have said the same thing I see...in that the starter is swiftly followed by the main, followed by the dessert, followed by the bill(assuming you are lucky enough to not be in a situation where it needs to be hunted down), leaving you with very little time to digest between courses. It is a family friendly restaurant and while that's great for families, it's not so good for everyone else as children tend to run rampant(get a booth if possible, for this very reason). Overall, an average place to get some reasonably priced food in good portions if you're stuck but if you can keep looking for somewhere to eat without starvation setting in, then by all means do as you will get better food and better service somewhere else without too much effort.

Have been there on a number of times. Never been sorry to go . Food is always excellent and hot.only problem found is that each course comes straight after each one finished, no time to digest. In my view one of the best value restaurants anywhere in ireland,

Have been here a couple of times and enjoyed it but the only down fall it's off the beaten track, during the day it's full of kids, they charge for extras so if you have a big appetite it may not fill the gap and you cannot book so have to wait for a table. Otherwise the food is lovely and it's not overly expensive but watch out for those hidden costs with the side orders!! However an idea place for familes.

I went there on several occasions, with a big group of friends, every time. We were never let down by the food, great big portions, tasty and a great variety of choices. And I think the idea of a pre-drink in the lounge is a great idea, gets people to chill out before starting their dinner.

Excellent for a pre night out meal in town! The service is very sharp indeed, food cooked well. It is not fine dining, just very well done home cooking. Well priced, definite hit!

I have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions over the years and always enjoyed the food - portions are large. It is not a restaurant for a romantic night out but good for groups. Unlike others I never minded the wait at the bar - nice to start the evening with a pre dinner drink. Good for informal eating but not for that special night out.

I cringe when someone tells me we're going to Joels. The thing that bugs me most is the lack of reservations. We end up sitting in the waiting area for sometimes over an hour (on busy nights) This way they make more money from the bar. The Service, I find is very lax. There has been times when the waiter/ess would bring our main and look surprised that she had forgotten to clear the table of our starter dishes. Speaking of dishes, Do they ever vary the menu?? I end up playing it safe and go for the same tired combo of Soup, Chicken Kiev and pavlova every time. Nothing exciting or new jumps out at you. Plain, Dull and Boring.......Sums up Joels for me.

The food is very edible but you would expect more for your money even as a reasonable priced restaurant. Service was terrible on this occasion, wasnt sure who our server was, forgot to bring us water, empty bowl for our son. NO one was taking the empty glasses off our table, even had to move our plates to another table as they were sitting in front of us so long with people walking by constantly ignoring them. Waiting a long time on our mains. We are regular customers but will give this a long break before we consider returning. Wouldnt recommend!

Joels restaurant seems to be hit and miss and seems to be missing on a regular basis lately. I live close by and have dined there and also have a lot of close friends and family that would dine there and the reports are mixed but generally disappointing. Unless you can get a table by the window when its not too busy you have a strong chance of being satisfied but lets be honest, when is joels not busy. Food is badly presented, greasy, thrown at you and taken away just as quick. On weekends the motto is get in and get out. Food is reasonably prices but you get what you pay for. Staff are always very busy and seem to be under pressure but remain friendly and accomodating and they make the experience the best it could be. I would go back in 6-8mths hoping they would have time to make a lot of improvements.

Joels is not for everyone, but I personnally really like it. Some people have commented in the past that the meals are rushed and that the menu is nothing special. I personally cannot fault the service in Joels. The staff are excellent the portions are very generous and there is a huge variety. I have always enjoyed meals here, its not exactly fine dining but it is simple enjoyable and very reasonably priced food. They are especially good for catering to large groups.

Joel's is a most perplexing restaurant. I knew that outwardly it has the appearance of an air traffic control tower but I have now learned that inside you can find the delirious ambience of Busaras on a bank holiday Friday evening. The menu has the reassuring familiarity of a local chipper but the pricing would suggest that said chipper had relocated to Zurich. The food itself is invariably deep fried, tasteless and badly presented and the portion control seems to be regulated by Ebeneezer Scrooge. In short I was nigh impressed.

Visited here for the 2nd time. This is an enjoyable place to eat, standard sort of menu that is guaranteed to have something you like. I had the ribs and chicken wings and found it very tasty. In general, it's hard for me to fault the place, 7 of us had mains, and with several drinks and a few desserts the bill was €180, not too bad nowadays. Special marks for the pina colada and appletini cocktails, really nice.

I ate here recently and it was nice. We got seated very fast as the place was only half full.We were a bit surprised as the food arrived very fast, within 10 minutes of ordering.... Two of us ordered the turkey and ham, while the other 2 people in the group ordered the beef. We all really enjoyed our meal. My only complaint was that we were waiting a few minutes for the veg and potatoes to arrive! We would have preferred for all the food to arrive together. Service was very good, efficient from start to finish. Would recommend a visit.

I have been to Joels on a number of occasions and, even though some people have been down on the place in the last while, i never find any problems with the food or service. My family and I went for my dad's birthday a few months ago on mother's day weekend so there was a lot of groups. We were lucky to get two tables together instead of waiting on one for all of us. The food was gorgeous, and the staff were both extremely nice and even came over to sing happy birthday to my dad. I would easily go to Joels and have no problem recommending it to friends.

Myself and partner ate here for the umpteenth time yesterday 19/07/08 and glad to report that high standards are still the norm. From front line staff all the way through couldn't find fault. I had double Joel's burger, really nice if a bit too much, partner had steak, cooked to perfection. Service really good, prices reasonable and overall I would recommend Joel's especially at less busy times.

The only thing I don't understand is all the comments on the children in the place??I'm very offended about it....I don't allow my children run around as if they are in a barn!! And to be honest Sunday is a family day with most people........ Its a great place to go....

Upon my visit to Joel's restaurant I found it to be disgusting and found the management to come on to strong as I was eating my meal I was disrupted constantly by numerous members of management and couldn't eat my meal in peace. The rest of the staff I found to be very pleasant maybe the management should lead by their example. Food reminded me of microwave ready meals.

I eat here a lot with my boyf and we normally have a good experience. when we were last here, about a month ago, I ordered the Creamy Penne with Chicken and it was so bland, no taste, no colour, I just had to leave it. I never complain in restaurants, but I will have to start. Nobody can be expected to eat something as tasteless as that Penne!!

The people who work here are lovely. The menu is great. I was a little bit disappointed by my main course the last time I went, but that was the only complaint I've ever had about the place. I wouldn't go on a sunday - the place is crawling with kids, great for families though. This place is great on a friday evening, A few cocktails and lovely food in a fun atmosphere. Definately recommend this place.

I used to eat here at least three times a month but one night I ordered the cajun chicken burger and I was half way through when I noticed it was raw. So I complaned to the manager who just took the plate away without even an apology. I would never eat here again.

Was here couple of weeks ago for my niece's communion. Food was excellent as usual. Very filling. My only problem was I asked for steak well done and got it medium but still lovely. Good value for money. They changed the garlic bread which I was disappointed. The old one was to die for. New still nice but old better. Staff very helpful. Would recommend. Don't forget to tip the carpark assistant.

went there a couple of times with the b/f and so far it was always great atmosphere, good service and the food is delish, its quite a big restaurant and so far we always had to wait about 10 mins for a table but thats not too bad for what you get, i just love those roundy seating areas, this place is actually great for a couple or a group and the menu is quite big as well, everythin I've tried so far (lasagne, Enchilada, Salmon, etc and various startes) was brilliant and the portions are quite big too so its very good value for money, can recommend it for a chilled sunday dinner or any other casual dinner,

I like Joel's restaurant. I think the location is good the menu is diverse and the staff are friendly. The only problem I would find with this restaurant is that you can be waiting for over an hour to get a table which can be a deterrent when your looking for somewhere to eat and you haven't planned to go out for food.

Horrible resturant - it looks dirty, food was dreadful - couldn't eat my vegetable stir fry - I still don't know how they got this wrong. Staff are disinterested and messy looking. There were lots of big family type parties with young children so this large restaurant probably suits these type of groups. Never again!

I went here for a family meal and found the menu and food rather boring to be honest, I really found it difficult to become excited by anything on their menu but being so basic I thought at least it should be good honest food, I ordered the chicken maryland and found it to be extremely bland and badly cooked and the others in our party sadly had much the same experience, The service was friendly and quick and the dining room was bright with a good atmosphere, the only thing letting the restaurant down is unfortunately the most important part the food!!!!

It's not somewhere I'd go again too soon, much like a motorway stop - would go there only if travelling. Went for my brother's birtday - we were a large group of 20 and waited over 2 hours for a table despite calling days in advance and being assured a table would be kept aside. Host was quite rude (don't know how she is still working there) but waiting staff were very efficient and were great with the kids. Despite being overly hungry and fed up with the wait, the food was good and portions were generous. Wouldn't go out of my way to go there - recommend if during the day/ a weekday and passing by.

Went here for Mothers day!! There were 8 of us! Waited a hour & a half which I didn't think was that bad for the day that was in it. We had a drink in the bar to pass the time. I had the prawn salad for starters but was very disappointed - it didn't come out in the big glass smothered in Marie rose sauce. Instead there were 6 prawns laid out on a plate with the smallest drizzle of sauce over them - not impressed. For mains I had the surf & turf & it was fab - really tasty. I'd recommend this place to families & big groups. They cater for this market brilliantly.

I like this place. In my whole life I've been here millions of times. I like it because you know what to expect, the food always satisfies, the service is always good and it's good value. Usually I like places a little smaller, a bit more upmarket and with a more creative menu but Joels still satisfies me each time. If there's a queue I don't mind waiting because I get to get in a few Cosmos before my meal. My father is disabled and when I bring him out here they always look after him. They know him by name and always come over for a chat and try to seat us as soon as possible as close to the entrance as possible. They are always extremely attentive and although this place really packs out sometimes, it is worth the wait. It's also great value and my all time favourites are the fillet steak and the plaice. Good for a big group, pity you can't reserve a table though. The soup is incredible and any long timers will know that the fudge brownie is never on the dessert menu but they usually always have it so just ask your waiter and if they have it, I guarantee you the finest, tastiest fudge brownie you've ever tasted! My only dissapointment is the gravy, it has gone downhill in the last year or so...other than that, top marks all round!

This restaurant is definitely aimed at the young families market and if you do not fit into this category avoid this place at the weekends. It becomes something of a noisy playground and you will be waiting ages for a table. The food quality is OK, it tends to be fresher when you go at busy times but during the week it often looks and tastes like it's been sitting out all day. The choice on the menu is very varied although a lot of the foreign cusine on offer is very westernised but once again this would probably suit the target market. The service is very good, the staff seem to be very well trained and are very efficient.

Been here twice, both times left waiting one hour for a table. Food is nothing special, although there is a wide range of dishes to choose from. Staff are nice and efficent. The restaurant is better suited to families with young children, so if you're looking for somewhere quiet and relaxing, try elsewhere.

I use to go here all the time, but i have stopped completely, its not worth the time and effort. The food is gone downhill completely, they have replaced food with cheaper versions and its not presented well at all. I got a plate of melted cheese before with a bit of beef in it, they called it Lasagne. I will not go again, as i would not wait for the rubbish they send out to the table. Staff are great

Me, my partner and 2 kids went here last Tuesday about half five. It was nice and quiet and not too busy, so no waiting around for seats. Kids ate off the menu had good selection for them and they got free afters, they enjoyed spaghetti bolognaise. We enjoyed our food to but I would have liked mine bit hotter. As it got bit busier the staff went missing and we were left waiting around for our bill, other than that, we enjoyed it and would go back at about same time.

This restaurant has the feeling of a large conveyor belt. The food cannot be faulted but it is ideal for getting in, getting fed and back out. The staff are friendly and food a bit over priced.

Had a meal here on Sunday evening and all I can say is: Delicious food, very reasonable prices, friendly helpful staff, wonderful atmosphere. They have a great three course special menu, I had tempura prawns with a rocket salad lime and garlic dip, absolutely divine and a beautiful warm beef salad for main course that was so full of flavour. Bravo Joels

Have been to Joels a few times and still unable to finish all my food. Joels menu is pretty varied. There is a great vegetarian option - which is rare for a Dublin retaurant. We ordered the platter for two for starters - I have to say this was very expensive and not worth the money. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was very good - no faults there. The main course of beef lasagne was bland and lacked taste - I left half the lasagne as it was not worth wasting my calories on this stoggy dish. Unfortunately there was not much meat or tomato sauce in the lasagne - as a result the lasagne was dry to taste. Portion sizes are very good - good for families as you could share alot of the main courses. The Joel burger is good value for money and a healthy size Overall the food could be improved - service was very good. Stop putting paprika on all the plates as decoration!!!

I used to really like this restaurant but i think it's gone downhill over the last few years. The quality of the food just isn't up to scratch anymore and the menu is pretty boring - there's not a great selection to choose from. Another thing that kinda puts me off is you can't book a table, you just put your name down when you arrive. I've often waited over an hour and a half for a table (but this was at the weekend so it was obviously busy). The one positive thing about this place is the service - the staff are really friendly and helpful and you're never waiting too long for your order to be taken or for your food!

Have eaten here many times and have finally given up! It is like a barn of a place that serves service station quality food without the speed or quality. The food is bland, mass produced and generally rubbish. Standard has gone down and down over the last few years! I also experienced the hair in the food thing too. If you'r looking for a bite to eat when travelling down the road wait till you get to Naas or something!

Joels is a restaurant you can confidently take your family (kids included) and be assured that you will get value for money. The atmosphere is laid back and casual but due to its large size it can be noisy at times. I've been to better and I've been to worse and Joels falls somewhere in between. A major drawback is the parking facilities, although upon my last visit I noticed there was construction work happening so perhaps that situation has been delt with.

Have gone to Joel’s out of a last resort over years as no booking needed but always left disappointed never go back after a watery lasagne and sister had hair in food which was supplemented for with a dessert and a sorry! Rang up next day to further complain and was told I would get free drink if I'm in again I don’t think so!

Not happy with this place at all. Drove by it many times and thought it looked nice and had heard good things in the past. How far from the truth they were was just ridiculous. Both me and my partner left there pissed off with everything we'd ordered that night. My steak was like a lump of leather and the service was great either. They try to shoo you in and out if they’re so to get as many people in every night. Definitely not a great spot to have a relaxing evening meal. This place could do with changing management and chef but I can't see that happening as they jam it each night with people who have no respect for their taste buds!!

I LOVE Joel’s! I love their Steaks & Savoury Mash most - yummy!! Only thing I don't like about Joel’s is that you can't book a table, but saying that I've never waited more than half an hour for a table so it could be worse!!

I’ve been here many a time, mostly for birthdays etc over the years but unfortunately it hasn’t changed much. The menu is now dated and been the same for a long time, service seems to have gotten a lot slower and there’s always at least a half an hour wait for bookings of 4 or more people. It can also be quite noisy and not recommended if your looking for a quite meal.

You either love it or hate it and I hate it. I don't see why people would queue for so long just to sit in what feels like a huge airport restaurant. My last visit will be my last. The quality of the food was below par. The standard of service was fast and furious, people running everywhere. Food flying around and in general no real thought given to the customer.

I used to work here about ten years ago; I thought it was a nice enough place up until recently. The menu is very limited, lack of salads & healthy options. The car park is beyond a joke & the fact that it is now on the forecourt of a petrol station! The cutlery is wild...like something you would see in a truck stop (used to be a truck stop about 15 years ago.... think it is heading back that way)

This used to be our favourite place to go for family birthdays etc, the service used to be top quality and the food (mainly the medallions of beef) were unreal. Things have changed in the last couple of years though. Portions have got smaller and the food isn't as nice, always a good atmosphere in the place though

Having been going to this restaurant for a few years, Bank Holiday Monday type of place, pit stop before the pub.... Not too bad. Last visit was Sunday last, we were told we would have to wait for 30 mins but we were seated within about 15 mins. While we were ordering our food (one of the orders was a steak and pepper sauce) one of the waitresses (Not one of the young girls, but an older woman) dropped a boat of pepper sauce all over the floor beside us, covering my mothers arm, now that was fast service!!! Hehehehe! We were a party of four and as we usually do, we ordered the table sampler to start; this has drastically reduced in size, 4 garlic breads, now reduced to 2 etc.. etc... Main courses were served promptly and done to perfection, desserts were very tasty too... (Chocolate Heaven is a must, not as heavy as you may think) The only down point about this place is the waiter's constant presence at your table, there are only so many times you can say "yes thanks, everything is fine, thanks" before it starts to get annoying, he may as well have stood there and said, " ok, every time I walk past your table and ask if everything is alright I want another 3euro in my tip..." Here's a tip...let people enjoy their meal! Value isn't too bad, Table sampler to start, 3 steaks and a Turkey and Ham, and 3 desserts with drinks only 120 euro

Been here a few times, after visit remarks went like this 1st time never again 2nd lovely will return 3rd never again!! Most recent time was just a week ago just went in cause we were passing after a lovely day out, you know the type. Told of wait 45 mins ok grabbed a drink while we waited seated then hassled to order like we were taking up residence starters arrived nachos burned hidden under chilli, Caesar salad came with free hair that definitely wasn't well received mains then came immediately after or almost alongside the replaced starters, complaints were dealt with by a child mains were however ok and desserts ok both spoiled dishes were removed from bill but is not enough these days.. Won’t be back even if we are just passing!!!!

Went with family. I used to enjoy the type of food and atmosphere but I think new managers have taken over with no experience. The food was dry over cooked, we complained and the manager said he would look after us another time. (Fantastic excuse may I add because I will never be returning) A previous review said that McDonald's had more class and they couldn't of been more correct. The clientele must have to scrimp and save just to go there. Oh and the fist time I went I was informed that I had won a Mercedes Benz BY WINNING A COMPETITION, I am still waiting for it to arrive but I doubt I will get it. Here is me hoping

My mother used to bring me here as a child, after the communion, it is very family oriented, but lets face its we've all got 'em! But for a romantic night out on a date with some hot guy, you don't want to end up at Joel’s. However Spending a sunny Sunday with the nieces and nephews having an extra special treat cause the youngest took his first steps no more than hour ago, Joel's is the only place on the map, they very accommodating and child friendly, even to us pushy pregnant women who just don't know which end is up, they have nothing but patients. Family Quality (most definitely) Aces! Family Quantity, not for those who want to pop any kind of questions!

Ate here with an ex and her mother (not that they made it a bad experience) and found it over-priced for what is essentially greasy spoon food. Also the kids running about and generally bad service didn't enhance the dining experience at all. Wouldn't recommend it unless you want to pay over inflated prices for very average food and be driven to distraction during your meal by kids running about.

The food here is decent enough, but the atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. Although there is plenty of space, the sheer volume of people makes it feel and sound like a shopping centre on a Saturday afternoon! That said, it is cheap and cheerful, and perfect for picky eaters since the menu is so straightforward you know exactly what you’re getting. It’s not the most stylish of eateries, but at least that’s reflected in the price. I’d avoid it for special occasions, but recommend it for an ample feed! Kids seem very welcome, and are accommodated for in the menu, so I’d say it’d be a perfect family venue.

Conveyor belt pit stop is the only way to describe this place. If you go on a weekend you have to wait for hours for a table as you cannot reserve a table here, you just turn up and get in a queue. They send you to a bar to spend more money while you wait, and the problem is it is not worth the wait. The food is bland and boring stuff and the service is bordering on pushy, there is no time to relax here its a quick in and out affair. Not worth the time and money.

Have been eating in Joel's a few times since January. Overall you get value for your money. On one occasion the service was not up to par. They need to get a Coeliac menu though cos plain salmon isn't much of a choice. Just use some corn flour for gravy please. Otherwise it's worth the wait.

Went on a Sunday, it was like the m50 during rush hour traffic!!! Had to wait an hour for a table. Starters were grand but the mains were a let down. Some of the food was very dry and tasteless along with the portions being far too small for mains! The service was pretty poor. We had about five different waiters and when it came to the cheque, they looked at us as if we had just got in. they really should assign a waitress to a table and leave it at that. We kind of got the feeling that the food was mass produced...and let’s face it- nobody likes a TV dinner!

I used to really like this restaurant but a group of us went up last week for a family birthday and the customer service was awful. Nobody came over during the meal to check was everything ok or take a drink order. We had phoned up and asked was it ok to bring our own cake into the restaurant for the birthday they told us it was fine. When the cake came out they took it straight away and then left us sitting at the table for 25 mins. When we asked about the cake they told us we could only have dessert from the menu, which is fine if someone had bothered to come and take an order. I'm really dissapointed with how downhill this place has gone

Really disappointed, stopped off for a bite to eat on the way back from a trip, wasn't expecting much but what we got was even worse. The chicken wings were cold and bland, the nachos were fine, I had crispy duck in plum sauce which I can safely say was the worst duck I've ever had in my life, considering you can get better from a Chinese takeaway at 1 in the morning, it was swimming in sauce. My friend was happy enough with her fish. Will not be heading back anytime soon.

We stopped here on our way into the city for a bite to eat one day and how I wish I hadn't!!! Now granted it was a communion day so I really don't think it would be fair of me to comment on the number of children. Also, the food was reasonable. Large portions and at quite reasonable prices so I was happy enough with that (even though there was quite literally a puddle of grease at the bottom of my plate when I had finished, but I can live with that). But what was completely unacceptable was their lack of customer service! We were waiting at our table for 45 minutes after we ordered with no sign of drinks. Not one person came to our table in this 45 minutes and no matter how hard I tried to grab the attention of a waiter to help us get drinks (since we weren't allowed up to the bar) we remained without them. When the waiter eventually came (minus the drinks) we had to wait till nearly half way through our meal before he came back with them. Joel’s must realise that while the food is quite good, waiting 45 minutes for a burger is a bit excessive! I'm not tempted to go back anytime soon.

Very busy and LOTS of screaming babies and kids running around. The manager was extremely rude and asked us with no manners whatsoever to move from our table and another party had reserved the window booth. So we all, including my very elderly grandmother, had to get all our drinks and menus and move. She did not even apologise. A very big selection of food on the menu but they fire out the dishes with little care put into the food. HUGE portions, a cheap and cheerful place that isn't really that cheap. Ok at times but not for a special occasion. Quite casual.

We go to Joel's at least once a week and cannot fault it. We usually go for the lunchtime carvery which is great value at approx. €9.00 for a hot main course. There is always a good selection of both hot and cold food, the portions are very generous. Unlike quite a few lunchtime carveries we have tried, the food is always hot and looks appetising - it also tastes great. We eat there in the evenings about once a month and have been doing so for the last three years - we have never had a bad meal or experience there. The portions in the evenings are even bigger than at lunchtime, last week I had the Babyback Ribs and Chicken Wings for my main meal and had no problems when I asked to substitute the chips/baked potato for coleslaw - they were very accomodating. The lunchtime Chef is really friendly and gets to know his regulars and the staff have always been polite and friendly too. The waiting time in the evening can be a bit of a pain if they are busy, and the car park is quite small so you could end up having to park down the road, but these are the only bad points I can think of. I'm really surprised at some of the poor reviews here (and lack of good reviews) as we thoroughly enjoy our meal every time we go to Joel's, it's always packed in the evenings and fairly busy during the lunchtimes sitting too.

One word- stodge. No matter what you eat you feel like you've eaten twenty steaks. Everything is so heavy and fried. It's like a glorified greasy spoon! PS if screaming babies and wild children running around your table isn't your scene-don't come here.

This used to be a great place but lately it has gone down hill, the last time I visited the food was terrible, all our orders were mixed up and, my steak was raw. We were all packed around the table and there were no high chairs available for my son. Dreadful!

If you’re looking for a quality meal at a good price go to Joel’s. Joel’s has a few bad factors. Its always busy, and you can feel like you are on a conveyor belt but if your looking for a quality meal at a good price you can't beat it. I haven’t ever gone and not come out satisfied. Plus you can drink in the bar before and after your meal. Avoid Sunday afternoons though if you don’t want kids running between your feet and a long wait for a table.

I was a regular visitor to Joel's but lately I have found the service to be Very poor. The last time I went I got cold soup and my boyfriends steak was Under cooked even though he asked for it to be well done!! I think there are a lot of new staff and they really don't know what they are doing! The menu has changed in the past few months also which I am really unhappy with as the portions have gotten smaller for example...I used to get the chicken curry which came on a plate with onion rings but this has changed to mixed veg and chicken in a little bowl...I can't see us going back in the Near future and that is for sure...

This place is like a factory. Not great if you want a nice meal but fantastic if you're absolutely starving and it's the only place in the vicinity. You get a massive amount of food. Food is basic and generic and you could get better in any pub in Ireland. I have mixed feelings about this place but will probably avoid it in the future.

Popped in to Joel's last Saturday afternoon for a quick bite. We travel up and down to Cork quite regularly and always though the place looked nice from the outside. So we though ok we're 'starving' lets give it a try. The bar area and I suppose the general feel of the place was 'clean' enough. The service was friendly but a but stiff. The place settings where very poor, cutlery has seen better days, and placemats that looked like they came straight out of your grandmas sideboard, so old they had lost their shine and where sporting lots of chips and cracks in fact my partner only got 3/4 of a placemat so large was one of the chips from hers. The menu is pretty bland, and un-inventive. Main dish accompanied by chips or a baked potato (chips are generic frozen style served with any pub-grub) - no substitutions my partner asked could she swap side of chips for a side of veg (cheaper on the menu) as her dish already contained mashed potatoes, but was told ‘No’. Food tasted ok but nothing great (food of this type is prepared with more class in lots of decent food pubs and places....) and man they use a LOT of coleslaw, which is described by the waiter as 'salad'. I also thought that it was quite expensive for what you got, a basic to average burger and chips for €13+. Bottom line if you are tempted to stop off for a bite on your way in to Dublin, don't bother keep going the city has a lot better to offer!

Bland food and a conveyor belt feeling to the sittings I wouldn't be a huge fan of Joel’s. The staff are usually very nice but I find its large size leads to a lack of atmosphere that impacts on the dining experience. Good if you’re travelling on the Naas Road but otherwise head into the suburbs of Tallaght, Saggart or Clondalkin for a more satisfying experience.

What a disaster! We went to Joel's this weekend, as we were looking for a local (family friendly) restaurant. All can say is: The food was just terrible, the atmosphere was comparable to a Butlin's Holiday Camp and it was completely overpriced!! The only saving grace was the lovely waitress, who made sure that we had everything we needed to be comfortable. Will NEVER be going back.

Disastrous place! Went there on a Sunday and had to wait twenty minutes for a table when the restaurant was very clearly only half full! To top it all off when we did get seated they put us in a crèche - along with loads of screaming kiddies. Food was brutal, service even worse, never ever ever again. This place is a nightmare!

Used to go here a lot, but the last few times, people have been sick afterwards. Think the management changed hands a while back and the place has gone slightly downhill since. Might try it again to see if it has improved, because it used to be very nice. Good value and generous portion sizes. Can be a bit of a pain that you cannot make a booking and have to sit around and wait for up to an hour on a table.

This restaurant isn't too bad. The food is nice and the service is okay but I wouldn’t really call it a place I'd go "out" for dinner. One thing I'd point out about this place is that you can't book a table so if it's a busy night you could be waiting a couple of hours.

About average restaurant, it is a lot like pub grub in a snazzier setting! Nothing too exciting on the menu. I'm sure if you live nearby it would be nice to go to but when you have so many restaurants in and around the city centre serving the same type food there's not much reason to visit but for a change of scenery!

Cheap and cheerful is the best way to describe Joel’s. Food will not disappoint but if you are looking for a night out in a classy restaurant this is not it. It is always packed mainly because of the lack of descent restaurants in the area. It is good for big crowds as it is a huge restaurant. The food is typical Irish restaurant easy dishes chicken stir-fry, steaks, chicken kiev etc. You can have all of this accompanied by frozen chips and dollops of coleslaw, mass produced it is like an army canteen but a bit more comfortable. Joel’s is a fast food restaurant with a bar, handy but not out of this world.

I have been to Joel's a lot of times with friends and family and the experience has always been good. There is a fine big menu with a bit of everything on there. The staff are great and there is a great atmosphere is buzzing, oh and you don't even have to book a table.

Have been to Joel’s regularly over the years. Had a lovely meal there last night, I would recommend the Thai prawn stir-fry, very tasty and a big portion. Was very busy, and we were waiting for a bit longer than usual but it's worth the wait.

Stopped in for a quick bite one Friday evening. Place looked lovely from outside and bar area was nice. But that’s where the good impressions ended! The place settings were dreadful, I’ve seen better quality cutlery in Tescos! From there value range! And the food was appalling, I had a mixed grill and had enough oil left on my plate to run my car for a week! Dreadful experience.

Top Marks! It should be a disaster. You can’t book a table. You have to wait until you’re called. Its open plan and very big! All the ingredients to be a flop, yet it is still a fantastic restaurant. It has a nice lounge area to enjoy a drink before getting called to your table (electronically). It can cater for parties of 2 to 30 without putting anyone out of place, or disturbing any other tables. Loads of friendly staff to get some of the best food in Dublin to your table within no time whatsoever. Brilliant!

Joels is great for going to on the spur of the moment. You can’t book a table so may have to wait, but the bar is nice so it’s not so bad. The food is basic but tasty. Nothing to fancy on offer, although they have added a few new things to there menu more recently. Staff are very friendly and fast. Brilliant atmosphere at the weekend.

Absolutely love Joels. Would eat there every day if I could. Don’t mind the wait as it is nice to relax in the bar for a few drinks before dinner. At least you’re not arriving eating and out within an hr or two. For a three course meal for two with drinks it costs about 70-80ˆ. Absolutely brilliant value for lovely food. Definitely recommend Joels.....

Me and my girlfriend went there few months ago, it was a total disaster. The waiter brought the wine to table and disappeared never opened the wine. I asked for the fish of the day and she has no idea what it was then I asked 3 times for a glass of water but still waiting for it total disaster anyway.

This restaurant has a great buzz in it at the weekend. Unfortunately you cannot book at table and can be waiting quite a while, but the good part of that is having a few beverages to work up an appetite in the bar beforehand!! Staff are really friendly and helpful and the food is lovely...
